to clarify i haven't listened to recent mbmbam I'm listening to old episodes so this is just cause they were doing pro flower ads then.
DO NOT BUY FROM PRO FLOWERS!
DO NOT BUY FROM 1-800-FLOWERS!
DO NOT BUY FROM AVAS FLOWERS!
Or ANY similar sites. These are all scams.
What they do, in my experience from working at a flower shop, is take the order, promise the customer a price that is unrealistic and not doable, and then they call us.
We then have to explain that no we can't do 50 roses for $50. 50 roses, here where I am, where roses are actually the state flower, would be $250 WITHOUT a vase or greenery or babys breath. They then have to call the customer back and explain that for 50 dollars we can do 5 roses. If they want greenery and a vase and babys breath that is. We could maybe work out a half dozen. A lot of these orders end up being Designer Choices, where we get to choose how it looks, and we have to hope the customer will be happy with a much smaller arrangement. OUR name will be on it. Not the name of the company they ordered through.
It's even worse when people order for funerals. I have had to take calls from crying customers because they tried to order for a service through these sites. They pay 100s of dollars to send something to a loved ones service and do not get what they ordered IF a florist actually accepts the order at all. There's been several times that we're told they were told their order was cancelled HOURS before visitation begins.
So genuinely this is NOT hate to the McElroy's or anything, but it's just a warning.
Double check the shop you're looking at is actually local. These sites like to make it seem like they are. If you aren't sure, call the shop. I have not met a florist who wasn't happy to take an order by phone.
