ᴛʜᴇ ꜱᴛʀᴀɴɢᴇ ᴏɴᴇꜱ

amy let a small laugh escape her lips. “hopeless in the way that you don’t know what to do when it comes your way, or hopeless in the sense that you fall in love with everyone you see?” she questioned,  offering the other a kind smile. “that was my teddy - it took him a while, and i’d loved him since i first saw him but eventually i think he realised that the love we had wasn’t platonic but had the potential to be more.” the blonde mused. “i’m sure there are plenty of lovely people in this world dying for a chance to know you.”

‘ both ! ’   he shrugged sheepishly.    at least he was confident in his hopelessness,    ‘ what can i say,   i’m a people person,   i’m just not good at actually communicating with other human beings. ’   he often felt like he must have been switched at birth  &  was in fact an alien,  which would explain his inability to grasp even the basics of average human conversational skills,   ‘ that’s so sweet.   i hope i find that one day.’  though he wasn’t holding on to too much hope,   ‘ maybe that’s the good thing about being here,  there’s a bunch of new people to fall for — maybe i’ll have better luck. ’ 

charlie returned the others smile, relaxing somewhat in the others presence. “i don’t blame you sometimes i get a little in over my head when it comes to speaking.” the brunette paused for a moment shrugging. “i find that my mind runs at a million miles an hour and my mouth is just trying to catch up.” he answered honestly. “i just feel like i’m missing something if i’m being honest - people coming up to me like they know me.” charlie added. “maybe i’m just being silly.”

 louis couldn’t help but laugh,   charlie’s statement so relatable that he was convinced he’d said those exact words before,  ‘ i know right ! ’   he said,  so excited he almost tripped over,  ‘ god,  it’s like i’m talking to a mirror.   i just find silences so awkward,  it’s like my brain has to say something stupid to ease the tension. ’   though in his experience,  it often added to the tension.  still,  it was nice to talk to someone who understood how his brain worked,   ‘ yeah,  it’s pretty crazy around here.  i’ve been running into my family,  but they have no idea who i am.  not even my parents ... ’   he felt that sadness washing over him,   but ignored it,  not wanting to be a downer,  ‘ it’s this place,   there’s something not right about it. ’

.｡.:*☆ “That Stark guy you know?” Tony watched the woman, actually getting a little wary. They had not met each other, as far as he could recall. Not in this universe, at least.

“Are you talking about my father? Also, there had been plenty of doctors already trying to figure out solutions. I do not think they know more in this place, than they did back home, really.”

dottie’s eyes flashed with recognition at the mention of his father.   by now,   dottie had been able to put the pieces together herself that this man was likely some relation to howard.   they had the same arrogant look in their eyes,    but it was nice to receive confirmation. 

“I wouldn’t expect anything less from you, honestly. I expect some form of fight.” Chloe chuckled. “I wouldn’t say I was loyal, considering I’ve done some things back home that wouldn’t be considered lawful.” It also mentioned that she was dating Lucifer himself and that he was her police assistant back home with no prior training. “Not really. This town is kind of boring, honestly. At least right now it is.”

peggy wasn’t sure how much of this she was buying, but she also didn’t have any real reason not to believe the other. still, keeping at an arms length couldn’t hurt and she was short on friends in the city. “he was like that.. before the serum too. well, not so well spoken,” she chuckled. “but the ideas were there even if he couldn’t articulate them,” she nodded. it’s why it had always been steve from the beginning. “i got a job with the fbi..” 

that fact surprised dottie,    she had always assumed captain america was some weak patriotic puppet,    a sacrificial lamb for the american military ... instead it seemed he was a misguided kid.   regardless,   it didn’t raise her already negative feelings towards him,   ‘ gosh,  he was such a hero !  i wish i had half the courage he had. ’   dottie said,  putting on a performance even whitney frost would be jealous of,   ‘ the fbi ?   that’s crazy.  i mean,   i know they’re hiring women now but ... ’    of course peggy went from one corrupt agency to the other,  the woman was nothing if not predictable,   ‘ how on earth did you end up working there ? ’

beth watched the other mull over her question, which didn’t help to settle her mind. the answer made beth’s eyes widen a bit. she couldn’t tell if the other was joking or not - she was speaking so casually about it. no matter what the other woman said, she didn’t exactly feel safe in her presence. maybe her anxious thoughts were what kept her from thinking straight enough to lie about her name, because she blurted “beth” as soon as the woman asked. she followed with an uneasy laugh, still unsure. “what’s yours? mata hari?” in case some investigators come knocking on my door, she thought. she hoped her half hearted joke would spare her looking a fool. she knew her doe eyes were easily read, but she wasn’t as soft looking as she could have been without her facial scars. 

dottie rather enjoyed that uneasy feeling she could bring out in people so effortlessly.   she didn’t even have to try,   it just came naturally to her.   it was something she felt great pride towards,   a sign that all her training had paid off.   of course,   if she really wanted to,   she could’ve been a lot more intimidating than she was in that moment,   but beth hadn’t given her a reason to  &  as long as she didn’t try anything,   it would stay that way,   ‘ mata hari ?  not quite.’  though there were some similarities,   so she appreciated the comment,   ‘ you can call me dottie,  that’s what my friends call me anyway — seeing as how we’re friends. ’  she chuckled,  referencing her little facade to lose the police.  giving her name didn’t matter to dottie,  it wasn’t as if it was the name she was born with anyway.   there were but a few people in the world who knew that  &  dottie herself wasn’t one of them,   ‘ so,  beth   you know why i’m here,   but what brings you here today,  all alone ? ’

Martin’s face twitches as he tries to keep from laughing. ‘Just a regular boy’– that sounds a lot like what a wooden Pinocchio would say; it’s not particularly convincing. He knows wizards probably do exist here, if everything else bizarre does as well. “Of course, yeah,” he nods, generously pretending to agree with the other’s claim. “Obviously you wouldn’t know where to start, since you’re, uh– a regular boy, and all. As long as these imaginary wizards don’t go around making people look like other people without their permission, it doesn’t sound too bad.”

sometimes louis thought it would be better for both him  &  the entire wizarding world if he’d had his mouth sewn shut as a child,    it would have preveted many awkward situations,  like the one he’d currently found himself in.  unfortunately,   he hadn’t been so lucky,   so now he was left trying to cover his tracks.   it didn’t help that he was an awful liar,   ‘ don’t worry,   no one’s tried that around here that i know of — not that i would know,   but i haven’t seen or heard anything.’  he folded his arms,  smiling like an idiot,   ‘ everything is completely  normal  around here,  just like me. ’  

“You’re still young, Louis.” Bill pointed out. “I was a few years older than you when I met your mum.” And prior to that Bill had been lucky if a relationship lasted more than a handful of months because of the amount of travelling he did for his work. “A toad? What were you trying to do?” He wasn’t entirely sure if he wanted to know just how that was possible. Bill chuckled, glad to see that growing older and having kids hadn’t changed himself too much. “You know, I’m not surprised in the least to hear that. But you know she’d only do it because she was worried about you.”

‘  yeah,   but you  &  mum had that whole  in the middle of a war  thing going on. ’    he rattled on,   as though they’d had this conversation many times,    which for louis,   they had,   ‘ war makes people go  crazy  sentimental. ’    he’d heard the stories from his gran about his parents rather rushed engagement,   though she left out the parts about her not being overly supportive in the beginning,   ‘ the restaurant got his order wrong,   i was trying to turn his shephard’s pie into a toad in the hole — you see where i’m going with this. ’   surprisingly not the worst first date he’d ever had,   but he still didn’t get a second one,   ‘ yeah i know,    wasn’t very happy with her at the time though.   we’d had a big row ... kind of wish we didn’t now. ’ 

Fleur had been out and about. She had a few jobs this morning and needed a pick me up before going back to the shoot. She heard Louis’ voice and smiled over to him as she approached. Despite his awkwardness she was being as open to him as possible. “Stood up? Who are they? I’ll kick their ass.” She took a seat across from him, cross her leg over her knee. 

truthfully,   louis wasn’t sure how his mum would react to the situation.  he knew his mum well,  but this woman wasn’t his mum ... not yet anyway.   her reaction was exactly the kind of reaction louis knew well,   which brought him a little comfort in this altogether uncomfortable situation,   ‘ woah ... calm down !    no need to go all over protective.  it’s fine,   i’m a big boy  &  it’s not the first time.   come to think of it,   i’m not even sure it was a date. ’

.｡.:*☆ “I have heard…. weirder things already since coming here?” And seen weirder things, as well. Like his parents being all young and alive again. So, harry just looked at Louis with a smile, having no intention to doubt the words of the other male.

“So, it is nice to meet you, then. I guess you are coming from Ginny’s side of the family then?”

“Yes. I worked in New York and Texas, they are some real weirdos in this world.” Tk admitted. It was sad to say, but people really could make you question humanity on a daily basis. “Any way you can think of to get money, just remember that there has been someone out in the world that has tried it.”T k chuckled.

(¸.• ♛ → when he hugged her, she also embraced him in a hug, it was comforting. vic knew that louis wasn’t the best at this, maybe he feels awkward but she also feels like that because she was used to console others, she didn’t like to show weakness just like that, it wasn’t in her but right now she couldn’t care less about this, this time a small laugh escaped from her lips, it was mostl ike a mix between a small laugh and a small sob. “i guess that’s something.” she pulled just a bit to look at him. “still, sorry just…i guess lately i’ve been feeling nostalgic, this place is not bad buti kind of want to go back as well.” she admitted.

“well thats probably the nicest thing someones ever said to me.” the brunette grinned widely at the other. “i probably read it somewhere though, i have to admit i’m not that inspirational in the big picture - rather quite dull and boring.” charlie shrugged. “growing up is more than a challenge these days, it’s more of a battle - if you win good for you, but a lot of people don’t and the dark consumes them in one way or another.” a soft sigh escaped his lips as he played with the watch on his wrist. though he’d never admit it to the other most days charlie lost that battle, and the darkness consumed everything the light touched.

 ‘ well,   you’re very welcome ! ’   louis smiled,   always having loved making other people happy.   he wished the man would have just accepted the compliment,   it wasn’t as if louis would have been any the wiser that the quote wasn’t his.   but  louis knew as well as anyone that self deprecating need to constantly let people know your weaknesses at every moment,   so he wasn’t one to judge,   ‘ wow ... your first quote was good,  but i might steer clear of that one when it comes to teaching. ’  he chuckled,   trying to lighten the mood,  ‘ it’s a little bit dark.   but hey,   i get it — there’s  lot  to feel down about here. ’

amy laughed at the others modesty, waving her hand at the sentiment. “don’t be silly - you’re gorgeous.” she replied, a soft smile on her lips. “oh no you’ll still make a fool of yourself but at least you’ll have the comfort of knowing that someone fell in love with you for the foolishness, and despite it they still care for you fully.” amy mused, offering the other knowing look. “it gets easier, don’t worry - if i can survive so can you.”

 louis felt his cheeks flush red as he playfully toyed with a strand of hair, imitating things he’d seen his sisters do time   &  again,    ‘ that’s actually a  really  sweet way of looking at it.’  he smiled.    the way amy  had explained it sounded like many of louis’ relatives.  many people often asked how his dad had won over his mum,   some even speculating he’d used some kind of spell.   but when louis saw them together,   he knew it was  true love ... now if he could only find that for himself,   ‘ thanks,   guess i better start looking,    though i am kind of  hopeless when it comes to romance. ’

“i wouldn’t necessarily say that. some are still pretty stupid. it’s just hard to con a conman. former petty thief that is.” scott just knew all the tricks and for women it was just easy to flirt with guys and have them be all oblivious to what was really going on. “it’s not that hard. isn’t there something that you like to do? something that interests you? something that isn’t trying to rob people…” he had to admit that he was happier working as ant-man but here in the city he had just become an engineer, the thing he had studied for back in college. it may not be his dream job but it paid the bills. “also, about what you said earlier, it doesn’t really sound insane that you’re from the forties. met people from different eras in time. hell, i even travelled back in time so it doesn’t sound crazy at all to me.” 

Chloe couldn’t help but smile. She reminded her of Lucifer, which was weird in a way. “That’s kind of a gray area, honestly. Technically yes, I would have to arrest you if you are doing something illegal but  I’m supposed to call back up if I’m in my own car, because you can’t ride in the back of my car. However, if I still have the cop car, I can just take you. Half the time we’re off-duty to everyone so we can catch more crime.” Chloe chuckled. “Of course, hypothetically speaking.”
