This is also my old sketch, Knight-Paladin Gelebor TES:V
The Snow Prince
TesFest23, Day 2 - Beloved or Ritual
@tes-summer-fest
"You were born a slave," said Konahrik. "Do you not wish for freedom?" The sightless eyes of the Falmer gazed straight ahead. "My people learned long ago," said she, "that to wish for the impossible would be too much to bear."
Tried a bit of a fancier style for an upcoming scene from my fic Death and the Maiden.
im rlly behind on posting my art here
Art is an extremely important part of many Falmer hives’ culture, though it may not appear that way to outsiders. Obviously, Falmer have little use for visual art – a drawing on a wall has almost no value when no-one can see it or really notice that it’s there most of the time – but tactile pieces based on texture and shape are much appreciated. This can take the forms of tool and item carvings, sculpture, and sometimes bioart, but by far the most common form of artistic expression is body decoration. Decorative scarification, jewellery and adornments, and sometimes piercings are widespread and well-regarded types of both self and artistic expression.

Skyrim moodboard: Ancient Falmer/Snow Elves (requested by: @future-dregs)
Since 70% of my LDBs tend to be a Snow Elf I was imagining the nords reaction to finding out that their dragonborn of legend is a snelf.
While we know that this concept (being Dragonborn) exists all throughout Tamriel, it has never had more presence or importance in a culture of a country like Skyrim. Perhaps another could be Cyrodiil, but even despite the dynasties/empires initiated by St.Alessia or Tiber Septim, imperials don't integrate Dragons into their cultures like the nords do. With their Dragon overloads of old, the dragon cult, dragon priests, true first dragonborn (it was believed it was Alessia until Miraak in TesSkyrim), then the dragon wars, dragon hunting, dragon mounts, even dovahzul (which the Atmorans seemed to be fluent given by the number of walls), their previous use of the Thu'um, Greybeards with The Way of the Voice, and last but not least the prophecy of the end times with Alduin's return.
It's a normal day like any other and then it happens, Alduin has returned. Dragons are attacking, and rumors spread about the dragonborn since the Greybeards summoning them. I mean everyone heard them and felt the earth shake at the power of their voice.
So here at this point, Nords start wishing for a second Talos to come by walking and save them, imagining this mega Chad Atmoran of legend vibing like Ysgramor, only to find out their savior is a motherfucking ELF. Can you imagine their faces? And one that looks like a pale as fuck Altmer. The majority of adults are veterans from the great war, their worship of Talos is forbidden, Thalmor are taking people, there's a civil war, and dragons are back. I can't think of the amount of profanities some Nords must've yelled. Specifically Stormcloaks. Both hilarious and concerning. And that's before they find out that the LDB is a Snow Elf, their ancient foes. Actual natives of Skyrim, while Atmorans had to do great feats of mental gymnastics to convince themselves that this was their land and they came back to claim it (which of course had nothing to do with the fact that they were fleeing from Atmora with its civil war and also it was freezing), basically gaslighting themselves into thinking it was their home and all elves were colonizers. So they still think that snelfs are invaders, and enemies.
I imagine their conflictive feelings towards their gods, and this milk drinker elf the gods chose to save the world. While also being in awe at the fact that they are witnessing an actual dragonborn killing dragons. It must've been so bizarre for them.
This kind of nuance was missing in the game, because we know, Bethesda knows, and everybody knows, that the Nords would've reacted (A LOT) to the race of the dragonborn, a being so integral for their culture. Especially if they were elves, even bosmer who are the least hated elves. They would've think it was a Thalmor plot or something like that at first.
With a few comments from people, and extra charisma needed to do things (that a human wouldn't have the need for) could've changed the story.
(P.S: And for Khajiits and Argonians is a whole topic altogether)
Snow Elves and the cold
+15°C It doesn’t get any warmer than this in Skyrim. In Anvil, people are wearing winter coats and gloves. The Snow Elves are out sweltering in the sun.
+10°C The Bretons of Wayrest are in vain trying to warm their houses. The Snow Elves are planting flowers in the garden.
+5°C Wagon wheels in Hammerfell are stuck due to the cold. The Snow Elves are cruising around in open carriages.
0°C Water freezes. Water in the White River becomes slightly thicker.
-5°C Elves in Alinor are freezing to death. The Snow Elves have the last barbecue before autumn.
-10°C The Dunmer in Blacklight start heating their houses. The Snow Elves start wearing long-sleeved shirts.
-20°C The Altmer are fleeing Elsweyr. The Snow Elves stop celebrating the summer festival - fall has arrived.
-30°C People in Valenwood are freezing to death. The Snow Elves start drying their laundry indoors.
-40°C The Imperial City starts cracking because of cold damage. The Snow Elves close the bathroom window.
-50°C The Nords are evacuating Atmora. The Snow Elf army suspends their winter exercises awaiting real winter weather.
-60°C Solstheim experiences bottom freeze. The Snow Elves decide to stay home for a cozy night with friends.
-70°C Frost atronachs flee their realm of Oblivion. The Snow Elves are frustrated because they can’t put their snowberry wine to cool outside. The Snow Elf army starts their winter exercise.
-183°C Microbes no longer survive in food. Skyrim’s cows complain that the farmer’s hands are cold.
-273°C All atomic movement ceases. The Snow Elves start saying “Molag’s balls, it’s cold outside today”.
Ilaglav (noun, colloquialism)
Direct translation: "star-always-blazing" debated with "star-without-falter"
Ilaglav is not a place or thing, but rather something someone simply is. To be ilaglav is to have a fortitude of mind, a spirit that cannot be broken. Ilaglav is a star that shines in even the blackest nights, a beacon of hope to others and an encouragement to get back up.
A bust portrait of my Snow Elf from the Elder Scrolls Online. Very happy with how this one came out! 🤍🥺💙

Serenarth was an ancient Snow Elf wizard. He participated in the infamous Night of Tears where the Snow Elves and Nords fought over the razing of Saarthal.
According to the tales, Ysgramor, with swift and accurate aim, fell Serenarth with his legendary bow Long-Launcher.
As Serenarth lay dying, he made a bargain with unknown but malevolent forces to swap his spirit with that of a Frost Atronach. His host form still persists to this day, encased in ice within a glacier close to where his frozen corpse still lies with the threat of thawing out and exacting vengeance upon Ysgramor's heirs.
it’s been ages since I drew falmer and my art style has changed a fair bit, so I tried my hand at it again! I had a lot of fun designing each of these characters - details and explanation of some of my thought process under the cut
