Maybe it cause in her song it can be interpreted as her not having agency in what happened? Like she was a ditzy girl who just so happened to have all these things happen to her? But that’s a very bare bones interpretation I feel. Cause you get moments of her completely understanding what’s happening until it becomes too much to handle, and well her saying “what was I meant to do?” can just be about her feeling pressure from different forces to HAVE to do it all until it comes to destroy even tho she had little real choice. But that’s my interpretation I guess. But again those moments of her understanding the situation aren’t deep and buried I feel.

Through out the show Anne is always making precise jabs at each of the queens cause she wants to win (it’s a fake competition but still). She knows how to push buttons, when to back off, when to make herself look better. She knows the power of words and that to me is super smart! Yeah we get that moment once the charade is over and she gives her little speech and says she reads, but why is it that people only point at that for a sign of intelligence? Being smart isn’t about using fancy big words all the time, at least to me. If they wanted to do that for her whole character to make sure that she’s seen as “smart”, it’ll feel forced.

Idk I just see people who hate the show, people who love the show, hell even the writers act like Anne is this Ditz with no agency and only likes to use her phone. That’s pretty sad to me, when even tho shes missing some historical elements (while I don’t think her song fully confirmed the allegations against her (she could be lying or playing it down after all as a way to not get into it in such detail) or the politics line could be more obviously sarcastic (i think it is but a lot of other people take it at face value which i can’t blame) or at least mention Elizabeth at all), she’s still a person. Not a temptress evil villain or an innocent clueless girl but a women who had agency, is witty and cunning, wants to enjoy life. But again that’s what I think I guess.

Honestly I don’t even have much to add to this anon because you’re bang on!!! This is exactly how I feel towards Boleyn too and I hate the fact that she’s so often written off as dumb or stupid when she’s really...not. She’s just as smart as any of the other queens in the show!

I’ve often talked about how I think Boleyn is also trying to manipulate the audience within Six for her own gain and how her hiding her more calculated and intelligent nature plays into that (if I can find the post I’ll add it to this in a reblog, I’m at work right now haha). And you’re exactly right with how she pushes the other queens buttons. Boleyn is the queen who always knows what to say to annoy the others, but she’s also smart enough not to be as explosive as queens such a Seymour! She knows how to keep the audience on her side and also push the other queens buttons.

And honestly? I absolutely prefer the idea of Anne as a queen who just wants to have some fun and live her life much more than the alternative schemeing and cunning version we could have had! Boleyn is never the villain of six, despite the fact that it could have been so easy for her to come off like that. And I think that in of itself is so important to remember.
