this is like a reach, but at this point I've stopped caring lol.
I was watching the second vhs tape episode, and when they zoomed out to show hopper and the other police officer together on the cliff, the coloring of their uniforms kinda made it look like mike and will are on the cliff together, in their s4 desert clothes. (I don't think this has anything to do with the vhs thing, but I'm too lazy to check what it looks like in the normal version)

You know how everyone talks about oh the timeline of events of Season 4 are weird and could take place on Mikeâs birthday (4/7).
You know what event could also be taking place on Mikeâs birthday if we just inverted the numbers from 4/7 -> 7/4?
July 4th -> April 7th
Is 12 important because of clocks? Is 12 important because of months? Yes AND
12 is important because if you use the 12 hour clock - you can mix up AM and PM. If you have events taking place in a month/day format, you can swap them too.
What an easy way to confuse people about dates and times if youâre trying to change memories âŚ
EDITS:
Is it
11/06 or 06/11
04/07 or 07/04
11/03 or 03/11
06/07 or 07/06
Is it 0315 or 1515? The difference being⌠twelve hours⌠why donât any of these fucking nerds use 24 hour/military clock!?
WHO ELSE BUT THE MILITARY AND LAB WOULD BE USING THE 24-HOUR CLOCK AND THE DD/MM/YYYY FORMAT!?
(I literally work at a lab in the US and we use 24 hour clock & a DD/MM/YYYY format btw!)
Itâs been a year Mike starts to make a little more senseâŚ

Omg I think that in the new content we're gonna get Mike's POV during the van scene
đŹ 0  đ 1  â¤ď¸ 5 ¡ NEW PIC OF THE VAN SCENE
I'M FREAKING OUT
This image just gave me a massive brain wave and now I'm thinking about all of the Byler scenes we've had over the years and Will silently longing in the background. In the new content we're gonna get MIKE'S POV during all the Byler scenes and HIM longing for Will!!!
This also could be a hint for all the missing/altered memories. They film a scene -> they film it again but slightly different/in a different pov -> they film the corrupted memory -> they use the corrupted memory in S5.
I actually have proof for this too (I think đ I could be remembering this wrong):
During Sorcerer, Vecna comes torments Will yadda yadda yah, and shows him the van scene from S4. Except, it's not actually the van scene from S4! It's slightly altered!
In the S4 van scene, Will looks away from Mike (towards the window) while Mike is looking at the painting, then he looks at Will and then back at the painting.
In the Sorcerer van scene, Will looks away from Mike (towards the window) while Mike is looking at the painting, then he DOESN'T look at Will and is just staring at the painting the whole time.
Guys I'm actually a genius đđ
Also this kinda explains the ridiculous amount of time they took to film the van scene (12 hours!!!) and S4 and S5 in general.
Anyways, blah blah blah, I will add more thoughts later (probably never) and I'm gonna call this vangate just because đ
Vangate <333
Anyways feel free to add to this (or correct me if I'm wrong) <333
The fact that Dustin was the last person to see both (1) Eddie before he died AND (2) Will before he went missing, when he jokingly screamed âIâm gonna kill youuuuuuâ
Iâm of the opinion that the first little flicker is probably MORE on Mikeâs end at the beginning of the first episode. Like that looks like the face of someone realizing what their first crush is, while Will is acting kinda normal. Even though it is not Mikeâs fault that Will goes missing, and all of this starts. Can you imagine how badly that would compound someoneâs internalised homophobia? That probably the first moment you realise you probably have a crush on your best friend of the same sex, and then they go missing. Like, everyone has their own reasons for having internalised homophobia, but Mikeâs is actually insane beyond even just his family. AND THEN, people are making fun of him to you, and you stand up for him by pushing someone over. And this stranger makes the bully pee his pants. And then you and your other friend get chased, and heâs being held at knife point while youâre told to jump off a cliff. The same cliff where they were just talking about queer kids dying in, AND where his body was. Iâm sorry, even IF we think that oh he did it because of his friends and he cares about them and itâs not about his love for Will, that is still actually a hate crimeâŚ? Like, point blank period, end of sentence. We basically watched Season 1 Mike Wheeler get hate-crimed.
And again, Dustin is right there, watching MIKE jump off the cliff to save him. Just like Eddie acts like a hero and gets himself killed in Season 4.
Iâm not a Mike metanarrative person, but his trauma is so real and strong. And it goes beyond just like Iâm gay and itâs wrong to be gay. Mikeâs lived experience so far has shown him that bad, super natural things happen when he has gay feelings. Even Eddie!
That would be so incredibly easily to exploit. Someone with that much internalised guilt and homophobia. Like OF COURSE Mike is hurting Will, but like be in Mikeâs head. Even if itâs not what he explicitly thinks on the surface level, there is that association between gay feelings and BAD THINGS happening to the object of his desires.
And then, after you âput your friend in dangerâ, the girl saves you and your friend. And this girl does this repeatedly throughout the whole season, saving you and your friends over and over. And sheâs the one who actually brought Will back.
And then when Will is back the next season, and having these incredibly traumatic experiences. You say that you know that if El was there, she could help him đ because MIKE thinks he cannot help him. Because he didnât get him back, because he didnât actually save him. And he didnât save Dustin. Because it was El that saved them, over and over and over and over and over and over again.
So this girl is saving YOU, your FRIENDS, and bringing your BEST FRIEND back. Like, THAT that same best friend, that you probably feel like you sent away. I know it can be interpreted as Mike âsendingâ him into the closet, but like⌠it could just as easily BE Mike realizing just for Will to go missing the NEXT DAY! Right after this moment!
^^^ like look at him đĽš
Like idk if thatâs Mikeâs scared face, or if heâs like confused or even just realizing something.
Like El is his shield in so many ways đ like Mike Wheeler has been proven time and time again that his feelings for men/boys, especially Will, are straight up dangerous. Like a threat to those around him, not just Will, not just Eddie, but your friends.
He couldnât save Will (he thinks that), AND he wasnât even there to fucking save Eddie.
This boy has the regular internalised homophobia of the 80s, the overt homophobic bullying to his face, his fatherâs comments, AND the supernatural entity taking his best friend who he has feelings for⌠like MULTIPLE times.
Of COURSE he would be leaning on El so much đ of course he would think that liking Will and being into Will is dangerous. And puts his life on the line.
I kind of love that Will's coming out feels more in-character for Mike to me.
"I haven't told any of you this because I don't want you to see me differently. But the truth is...I am. I am different."
The audience already knows Will is gay; they've already seen other characters suspect it in the show. We've had multiple scenes hinting at it: Jonathan's hug, the Van scene, all the longing stares in S4.
But the audience might see Mike in a different light after the truth is finally out. They might see his interactions with El differently nowâhis coming of age is hidden in plain sight now, there for everyone to analyze and speculate.
"I just pretended like I wasn't because I didn't want to be. I wanted to be like everyone else. I wanted to be like my friends, and I am like you."
Will doesn't like pretending; he's always honest with himself. He says it to Jonathan in S2âhe knows he is a freak. He chooses Bowie over Kenny Rogers. Will never really pushes Mike away because of shame. He's just resigned himself to the "best friend" moniker.
But Mike does pretend. He is afraid of what other people think of him. He wants to be like everyone else, so he quickly turns to the first girl he meets. He wants to be like his friends, so he turns to Lucas for advice. Mike does push Will away because he's ashamed.

You know whatâs actually soooooo fucking funny is that at the beginning of Season 3 they introduce Dustinâs long distance girlfriend Suzie. And no one believes Dustin at first, because no they canât really call her right. Because sheâs Mormon and their relationship is a secret since her parents donât want her dating a non-Mormon. And then he calls her using his Cerebro on the top of a hill, and she doesnât answer.
And no one believes that Dustin actually has a girlfriend.
Because yeah likely story! Sure, your âgirlfriendâ that you canât talk to over the phone, your âgirlfriendâ that lives in another state, your âgirlfriendâ that you met over camp and have known for like maybe a few weeks, your âgirlfriendâ whoâs suspiciously like a super-tech genius. Your âgirlfriendâ whoâs like âŚ
basically a superhero!! Like, Dustinâs best friends donât believe him
And then as the viewer, Iâm supposed to believe that *no one* in this ENTIRE TOWN would notice that Mr. Emo over hereâŚ
Is depressed as FUCK right after his boy best friend moves away to California? The same one who was acting out in Season 1 because his boy best friend was missing The same boy who Troy et al. targeted their homophobic bullying towards?!
Who *only* looks happy when heâs engaging with his hobby that is *directly* connected to his boy best friend?
**in the wrestling room mind you** I know what you are!!!
And sure, Dustin and Lucas know El, but like⌠!? NO ONE ELSE!
SureâŚ
Oh, Mike! Yeah, no heâs acting out because his âgirlfriendâ moved to another state with the Byers
Sure, Mikeâs âgirlfriendâ no one knows (or, last they saw her, she was being confused with Will fucking Byers)
Sure, Mikeâs âgirlfriendâ that he canât call because otherwise the âgovernmentâ will find out her location⌠so they can only communicate via radio (are we even sure that Dustinâs Cerebro is like a secure method of communicationâŚ? That is IF they even used it)
Sure, Mikeâs âgirlfriendâ thatâs supposedly SuperMAN a superhero!
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH now heâs leaving for Spring Break to visit his âgirlfriendâ who âlives with the Byersâ
You KNOW how bad those rumors were this time around Iâm sorry!!! And guess what!! Elâs not even there to fucking make his bullies piss their pants anymore!
No wonder we donât have a Mike POV book yet
And then the SECOND Mike is back in town. With the Byers. Whereâs Mikeâs girlfriend!?
Oh yeah⌠hiding from the government!!! Again!
But you know who heâs fucking living with now!? đđ
Oh and NOW HE HAS SUPER POWERS TOO!?
Iâm sure!!
Give me a fuckin break. That man was fighting rumors left and right I know it to be true!!
Looooool from convo with @disastertourwaterdeepedition
Mike was gonna become a brick in the wall since S1, and it was always connected to him conforming in his relationship with El.
We NOW know from S5:
At the end of the song, a man shouts:
If you donât eat your meat, you canât have any pudding!
This is obviously a metaphor for conforming: enduring your unpleasant duties first, do what's enforced and expected of you (eating meat, the proper food), only then being allowed something you actually enjoy: freedom and joy (the dessert).
In the finale of S1, Lucas and Dustin are quite excited to find loads of pudding:
Mike doesn't seem so interested:
El seems intrigued but doesn't know what pudding is (this is so sad: she doesn't know joy, only her duties):
Mike explains:
El also wants to eat Eggos, but Mike says no, eat real food:
Eat your meat!
This is where ST first uses this metaphor and it's right before Mike kisses El for the first time. I don't need to explain that that kiss does not look enjoyable, that Mike surprises her with it and she asks him if he's like her brother right before.
Then again in S3, during Mike's first attempted love confession to El, they sit in front of this sign:
Mike tries again to perform his expected obligation to reconcile with her after the break up to become her boyfriend again, and isn't successful this time or any other time really telling El that he loves her.
So this metaphor has been connected to Mike from S1 and specifically to Mike and El and the quintessential hallmarks of romance (first kiss and first love confession), being an unpleasant obligation enforced on them by an oppressive and authoritarian system.

Corruptiongate p.3: Bad parent Jim Hopper, byler field scenes and Will taken to the Lab (p.1, p.2, + bonus-post)
Itâs a theory based on cues hinting that m11 is byler in s3, the idea of which is the show being built upon corrupted memories. There are more significant posts revealing what exactly was altered (links will be below), but the ones based on Elâs character, explaining cues around her, are its base.
Have you ever felt that Hopper yelling at El the way hatred for him feels with the whole body is in the heaviest way ooc after everything heâs done by this time? Thatâs because itâs not Hopper.
If you know corruptiongate, then you probably know how suspicious Elâs room in s3 m11 scenes is. T85 didnât make it âeasierâ, turning orange objects (as if orange being Vecnaâs colour wasnât enough) into pink and placing the bird poster in two rooms at once (in part 1 I theorised what it can mean, but Iâd genuinely recommend to keep up with all three main posts).
What stood out for me this time is that s2 room looks nothing like s3 room (as if s3 room is not real at all): the walls are not green, the curtains are not yellow, and even Elâs bedside table is different.
And, as much as t85 timeline is questionable (pretending to be post s2, while it heavily feels like post s5), I mind you: if anything in T85 even is real, it wouldnât make sense for s2 to end at Snowball in the end of December with no plans for Hop and El to renovate her room, and in two weeks to have a fully new look for it (as T85 takes place in the middle of January). And even if we dismiss t85 as itâs still not a continuation of s2, but of s5, take into consideration just the og show and imagine that even though they had half a year till July to do that, it still doesnât seem reasonable, as El lived with Hop for almost one year, they prepared the place for it, but they never coloured the walls and didnât have a reason to do it urgently for s3.
Now I need to take you back to the opening scene of the episode: it has a parallel that I caught later in the notorious scene of the fight between El and Hopper. Letâs check how Will is doing (not great).
⌠your little what trip? your little field what? đ
1ď¸âŁ In the show playing a lot with a topic of drug trips, is what Will experienced at the field anything but a trip đ¨? (yes, thatâs trippygate over here)
2ď¸âŁ Who are we even looking at this scene? Who is Hopper speaking to? Is it Will?
Letâs move for a second to the way Hopper grounds El: he forbids her to watch TV. The show playing (and the shot implies that she likes it) is Cheers⌠who else, as we know, loves this show?
Doesnât it seem reasonable that out of all kids Will would be the one loving Cheers, bc he used to watch it with his mother?
I started the post claiming that this is not Hopper. You know, as many times as I watched this scene, I always tried to excuse Hopper as his arc is surely constructed to make us want to trust him, and bc of that this scene feels like a whiplash.
I get that people can lose their temper, even (or especially lol) when it comes to their kids, and we know that heâs so nervous for El etc⌠It seems like we have every reason to understand him even here, but his anger looks too beastly, not normal at all, so, the way he behaves throws us off.
I caught the feeling of something being wrong about Hopper behaving like this again this time with a thought yelling in my head âthis canât be himâ, so I started rewatching trying to understand how it is even possible that itâs not him⌠Thatâs when I found the field line. Thatâs when I suddenly understood that the kid kept in the cabin is Will, and the bad parent is not Jim Hopper, but Lonnie Byers, known for suspicions in kidnapping his own son since the very beginning of the show.
There is a theory that Lonnie was the one to take his kid to the Lab for money, as we know that heâs very capable of it as he infamously known for not giving a damn about his family at all. And heâs also of course disgustingly homophobic.
We know Willâs powers are âinnateâ, so he was a person of interest for the Lab: it also explains all the supernatural stuff El does in the scene.
Now, remember the weird drawing of Paladin that El had in her s3 room that made no sense (weird bc she doesnât care and knows nothing about D&D, has no idea who Paladin is, doesnât draw as good as Will, thereâs no reason for her to have this depiction of Mike at all)? If we consider those s3 scenes as Willâs corrupted memories, it suits perfectly well: he lives with Lonnie (not all Elâs scenes are his, but at least a specific one is) and has a drawing of Mike as Paladin on his wall. Lonnie hides Will, doesnât let him leave, the only thing that can support Will is a drawing of Mike.
Looks like Will escaped from the Lab/was taken back by Lonnie, but Lonnie doesnât want to be caught, and his supernatural kid is his pain in the ass. He still has contacts of the Lab though, and he still threatens Will to take him back:
Meanwhile, he manipulates or even truly believes that heâs doing something good for them both, Will included: letâs say heâs the shittiest parent, but probably still thinks that Brenner is evil, worse than him, so he explains himself, letâs Will know that he keeps him safe, but alsoâŚ
confirms that he is in danger too. Willâs being found by anyone is not in his interests.
Maybe Lonnie doesnât hate Will to the point where he wouldnât feed him, for example (and thatâs where good-parenting lines saving Hopperâs character in this scene build not pure evil-but still disgusting bad father Lonnie Byers), maybe he found out something he didnât like about the Lab/stopped getting money from there, and decided to take Will back. But he surely despises his own son enough to do egregiously awful things to him (still believing that teaching and feeding him in that environment is enough to demand gratefulness and obedience).
I hope the idea of Will being into Cheers makes even more sense now as itâs literally the show he used to watch with his mother, when everything was alright, and which now helps him to feel safe and to remember the way life was going before.
Now that we look at Hop and El seeing Lonnie and Will, this line also reads (and hits) differently:
Will, not being able to see Mike for over a year (almost a year in the cabin and god knows how long while he was in the Lab), knowing that Mike still believes heâs alive (canonical events of Willâs going missing and Elâs presumably being dead interestingly match here, and absolutely add up to each other, being just one storyline about Mike never giving up on Will), surely misses him, draws him and quotes him, which pisses Lonnie off.
Will desperately wants to see Mike, and Lonnie knows that. We also know how Lonnie calls him and can assume that he suspects that Mike is the one ânot just a friendâ to Will making him âqueerâ. And now even this question, that already had two layers, reveals the third:
Whereâd you go on your little trip?
From Mike. To Mike.
Coming back to the first post of corruptiongate: Does it mean s3 m11/byler-kiss is a part of Willâs life at Lonnieâs? I donât think so. (But Ig itâs time to finish my old theory of what is really going on with s3 through s5 lens.) Surely, not every scene of El and Hopper could be read as Will and Lonnie, so, most likely it has other explanations; however, El substituting Will barely leaves her as her own character with her own plotline. She might represent another character (Sara? still Jane but not Eleven?) in the right timeline/reality, but with every new detail El, as we know her, seems to be more of a concept and not her own character.
Now I suggest you watching the full scene with new eyes, and please pay attention to the OST (it starts being heard around the middle of the scene), it sounds eerie, but in a sci-fi way, like it implies that something scientific happens in this scene: like, a corrupted memory being loaded into the brain of a receiver, laying in the Nina machine, and only the sound directly gives it away.
Iâll finish this post with a picture of Hopper with matrixgate cue, i.e. blue and red [pills].
After all, if El is not fully real, it can mean that the whole storyline was corrupted since the very beginning, so we didnât have just Snowball as the point of no return, but some memory fuckery was happening all the way through.

I see people's believe starting to dwindle after July 15th and I kind of get it but I also don't because after the tapes thing with S1 it feels more likely than ever that we are getting something at some point, maybe after tales of 85 đ
Like, I don't think some people understand. Matthew Modine's behavior is very suspicious, not just "troll-like" because this:
is clearly a "professional" marketing tweet, meaning it was most likely prewritten and sent to him to just copy and publish onto his page to promote it. Meaning he is still apart of promoting, possibly out of contractual obligation, which is weird since he is nowhere to be seen in S5.
But also, his personal Insta, I get that he does technically troll in the comments sometimes, but I feel like he does it on purpose. Because if he truly didn't like Stranger Things and didn't/wasn't associated with it anymore? Then he probably wouldn't engage with it at all (unless contractually obligated to like i mentioned, but if he was, then saying "nope" when asked if he liked S5, seems a bit of a risk to take). He is also very vocal about his political beliefs on his insta so he really doesn't seem like the type to waste his time on something he doesn't support/like, but that is just how I see it based on his behavior on there.
