There’s only three weeks left before September, and I feel like there might be more and more new blogs showing up in the studyblr community, looking for motivation and tips on focus, organisation and studying. Remembering the first time I’ve seen this type of blogs, I think there might be lots of misconceptions, due to the aesthetic, staged photos we all post and reblog (I pledge guilty).
1. Our notes are always neat and beautiful. - Well, technically. Lots of us usually write on loose papers or use extra notebooks for taking notes in class. The notes you see on your dashboard are usually the result of rewriting class notes into another notebook, both for aesthetic reasons (studying is so much easier when you have everything in order), but also because rewriting notes makes it easier to remember the information.
2. Our desk is always neatly organised. - Probably only during the time period after cleaning, and before studying. While it’s important to clean your desk regularly, because it’s better to have everything you need for studying around you, you’re most likely to mess up your desk during studying. Loose papers and pens everywhere, two different notebooks and four books taking up 90% of your desk. I actually lost my phone a few times because of this.
3. Apple products are a must. - When I first joined this community, I didn’t want to post any original photos because I thought I wasn’t valid, as I don’t own any Apple products. While it’s true that most studyblr bloggers do own Apple products, it’s definitely not a must. Heck, you don’t even need a laptop for this.
4. Our wardrobe consists mostly of pastel and natural colors, and sweaters are worn even in the summer. - While this mostly goes for the booklr community, it might be relevant to this one as well. I did try to actually change my style at the beginning, but I felt uncomfortable in so many colors. Although I really love pastels and flowers and all that (my theme is #1 proof), I feel the best just wearing a black band tee and leggings. (I also really love breaking the metalhead=bad student stereotype, and I can’t wait to be the most modified English Literature student tbh)
5. We are perfect students. - Definitely not. We do try hard to achieve our goals, but sometimes life gets in the way and we have to take a different path. Shoutout too all of you who had to drop out, retake the subject, or struggling with studying due to mental illnesses or other problems; you’re all great and I love you 💚
