AND ANOTHER THING about Supergirl is that I was really worried the movie would be all “take the high ground” about killing human traffickers and shit, but then at the end Kara just fucking stabs that guy TWICE and I realized the movies actually about cycles of abuse and protecting the innocent

Something I really appreciated about the Supergirl movie was that Lobo didn’t actually get like, a whole bunch of screen time. He wasn’t shoehorned into the plot just so a man could be there.

(Don’t talk to me about how, in my opinion, they kinda did make sure he was prominent in the promotional features to make people come see it…)

As a Mary with a Clark in my life, the people who say they relate to Clark or, even worse, ARE Clark really worry me. I can understand it if they truly understand his character, but the fact that he refused to realize that the harm he people caused was his own fault makes me worry that most people who think that don’t fully comprehend how complex he is 😭

Yknow people like characters that are evil right? People like darth vader even though he’s killed a lot of people. It’s because he’s fake. Liking a character doesn’t mean you agree with their actions in real life. It’s fun to like fictional characters who are bad. <3

Absolutely I do! And I like characters who are evil or have questionable morals, too. But I guess I’m just upset a lot of people are acting like Clark is innocent in all of this? Also, being abusive to your partner is a specific BRAND of evil— one that makes it difficult to stomach the “Clark x reader” fanfics because like, honey, he would hate you.

To be clear, I don’t think that the people who like/sympathize with Clark are bad people or stupid or anything, and I get where they’re coming from, its just frustrating seeing some people gloss over all this violence.

(Also, all the victims of Clark’s cruelty are women, which is don’t think should be ignored.)

I genuinely can’t stand the amount of Clark love I’m seeing online. I get it—it’s easy to sympathize with the feelings he has: not wanting to change, a desire to stay in the same self-destructive habits, feeling trapped. But he also pretty clearly was abusive to his wife? And I feel like many people are forgetting this or willfully ignoring it. Also! He killed a woman! That is a thing that happened. And then he fucking KIDNAPPED his therapist. “He was going to let her go” YEAH BECAUSE SHE CONVINCED HIM TO?? There is a strong possibility that if Mary had acted differently, said anything else, he would’ve fucking killed her. I hate that bastard with my whole heart.

Reinsve did such a good job portraying Mary in the Backrooms movie and I can’t stop thinking about it. SPECIFICALLY the moment where she says to Clark “I can’t fix you” (or something similar idk man) and we see in her EYES the realization she could never fix, never SAVE her mother.

And then she got immediately attacked by a giant pirate, so that moment was kinda cut short but for good reason
