I met my husband in the military seven years ago. I was away from my family and in a state of desperately wanting to be loved. I found my safety net in him and we grew very much in love. We were engaged, pregnant, and married. He wasn’t a Christian, but I fervently prayed that God would work my plan out because I was convinced he was the only man who would love me. Unfortunately, our “marriage” unraveled a few short days after my daughter was born and we separated, moving states away and legally divorcing years later. In a way, my fear has proven true, no man has loved me like my husband has, I have had 6 years of a dating nightmares. I’m not exaggerating. All I’ve wanted was a whole complete loving family and I have run into dead end road after dead end road, all a horrific waste of my time. It wasn’t until I recently read the book “Praying for your future husband” did I finally realize how much I wasn’t trusting God with my love life. I think I always knew it, but I don’t think I realized how bad it was affecting me. I didn’t realize how much love I was missing out on. I put my trust in God and it was a like a skydiving free fall. I finally have that love that fills every nook and cranny of my lonely, broken, disappointed, self doubting, self loathing untrusting heart. I finally have hope, not so much that I will have a husband, but I have all the love I can’t even comprehend by truly embracing Jesus’s act on the cross and God’s relentless love for us. So anyways, now I’m a single mother renewing the love that matters most everyday. I still love marriage and I am very happy for others, and I pray daily over the man that God has chosen for me and I pray over the life I lead as a single woman.
