1963 jack merridew: somewhat awkward but straightforward, has some sort of authority from the beginning and it gradually culminates to the end. very, very strong presence. you can feel the pressure raising and air thickening when they and ralph fight. you are not merely scared of him, at the same tame you are unconsciously acknowledging his true power and skill in hunt and command. you could see how he wallowed in this special sense of dominion he got from getting almost everyone joining his tribe, still, it was subtle. he was utterly respectful until you made him feel like he does something wrong. if you did make him feel that way - just you wait. his men don’t sleep if chief is not allowed them to.

1990 jack: more of a school bully before he even become one. bratty but still kind, at least before completely forgetting himself. cares for his hunters and seems to be a close friend to roger. celebrates ralph on his election victory, laughs freely when he wants to. aggressive, insecure and hides his fears behind loud words or swinging fists. honestly was just playing games and let everyone else do the same. probably regretted everything happened trice every other jack from any other adaptation could (from my perspective ofc)
