I HATE the brothers’ house.

It makes no sense why the basement isn’t actually underneath the house?

As far as we know the second floor is floating, unless the lobby is under it but there’s no doors to get there.

If the lobby really is under the second floor, where is the balcony connected to?

There’s fireplaces with NO CHIMNEYS.

AND SOME DOORS DON’T EVEN LINE UP.

And then imagine actually LIVING THERE??? Tons of windows are broken, there’s mold everywhere, and it’s probably infested with bugs.

Honestly i feel like the confusion about the second floor floating wouldn’t exist had the weird stair door stayed, since maybe it could exist as a door to the entrance part of their house. A part they barricaded because, well, they’re kidnapping people. It would be such an obvious place to escape to. Why wouldn’t they barricade an easily accessible escape? Otherwise, they LITERALLY DON’T HAVE A FRONT DOOR. All of the other outside doors just lead into their garden.

(this is mentioned in the original post, but i figured i should talk about it too.) Also, the lobby doesn’t necessarily seem like it would be under the second floor. The lack of access to the rest of the house, for one, doesn’t make sense if it were to be there. It doesn’t have a place to connect in either part of the game (main or lobby), and it’d just be pretty much useless to have it there. The lobby house and the other two buildings seem to be separate from the main house and barn. So, really, it would make more sense for the stair door to have stayed and that to lead to something else under the second floor.

I have my own theories about the uh… storage, workshop, and hall area? Like maybe their dad or something/someone built the walls there and originally it wasn’t as confusing as it is (hallways to literally nowhere) but I’d have to think that over a lot.

As for the basement, I’d assume that chubby baby just didn’t think of placing it under the house when making the chapter introducing the basement, so it’s just stuck like that. Especially with the addition of mama’s hatch-basement thingy. In a real life scenario… I’ve got no clue about why it’s like that.

I also really cannot make sense of the floorplan part near the workshop where the bookshelf leading to the hallway down to the basement is (THE AREA WHERE THE WORKSHOP BOOKSHELF OPENS UP TO A HALLWAY. IT’S WEIRD ON THIS MAP VERSION.). It’s as though there’s an extra room?? I don’t know.

Another thing that genuinely makes me so mad is the garage. It doesn’t make sense. It’s only big enough to fit a car parallel to the garage door. So it’s extremely difficult to even get the car in there. Maybe, just maybe, it’s repurposed, but then whoever thought of that room being the garage oughta be dumb as hell, dude.

The overall shape’s still strange, sure, but thinking about why the weird house shape exists makes my head hurt so… I’m not gonna do that.

It could totally just be chubby baby reusing the same chair and I won’t really know till the game modes are finished, but I thought I’d share it.

I like to think the space under the second floor is where the brothers spend most of their (inside) time mostly because I cannot imagine eating in that kitchen. And as you said the area is blocked off to the victims/players so it would make sense if they kept all the stuff they use there. William would sleep there too, given his bed up in their childhood bedroom is so small, probably Jackson too just to be safe but he definitely goes up to the bedroom regularly.

I’m guessing that the house originally had these two rectangles in mind (purple area) and the drawing room/hallway to the basement was an afterthought.

Random but they have a lot of broken cars around the property, at least three from what I remember, so I’m guessing that they keep their working vehicle in the front.
