But what’s going to happen when we forget the next time? As an often-strapped consumer and self-professed clotheshorse I will say that I struggle to find a way to strike a balance between the exorbitant prices of luxury (much of which is made in the same sweatshops and dubious labour conditions) and the overtly cheap-at-the-cost-of-human-life fast fashion. As a generation we’ve gotten almost too good at ensuring the food we eat is brought to us in the most ethical way, what about the clothes on our back? Buy less, buy better, sure. Or perhaps just buy less, period.
