how can you tell an Fi dom from an Fi tertiary? aka IXFP from IXTJ, but only the judging functions.
One good way is to determine if they are able to put themselves and their like/dislike aside to remain impartial in an intense situation. An ITJ can put aside personal dislike of someone to work with them -- they can "smile in the face of their enemies," whereas IFPs find that almost impossible, because their personal judgment about someone dominates their thought process. ITJs are also capable of 'separating the art from the artist,' whereas IFPs struggle with that.
Another way is that ITJs when asked to consider a profession will pick something they know to be sustainable and in-demand for a long time, to create a sense of stability; they do not need to feel fulfilled through their work (though if it does that for them, that makes them happy) because work is a means to an end. You work to earn a living so you can buy the things you need and want, which leads to happiness. An IFP will instead think about what they like to do and will try to build a career out of it, because doing something they hate for 30 years would be impossible for them. They think in terms of "my time" and "my life" in a desire to achieve emotional fulfillment and happiness and must form a connection to a career to seriously consider it. So, I will be an artist, or I will curate a museum because of my love for ancient history, or I love studying English literature / skiing / marine life, so I want to do that. Basically, what they love or find interesting comes ahead of what's "logical" for them to do, because it doesn't occur to them to be "detached."
