Hi! I just graduated college with a dual cert in early education and special ed. I just got a job as a 1st and 2nd grade special education teacher in an enclosed classroom. Any tips?

When one of the APs drops a court summons on me the day before the student’s hearing.

When there are still 3 weeks left of school and I’m done.

Dealing with *that* parent again for the umpteenth time this week.

How it feels sending out my resume.

MRW when I find out that my principal who is still trying to “rebuild the department” let nearly half of the department go for the 3rd year in a row so instead of getting to do my job next year I’ll need to train in 6~ new people again.

When I try and be supportive to the kids on my caseload who are taking AP tests this week.

When I list off a kid’s 23 missing assignments after they tell me they have no missing work.

When I see the department schedule for next year and rather than letting everyone teach the same classes again, admin shuffled everyone.

When another teacher rhetorically asks how many days we have left and I answer without hesitation.

When the office tries really hard to get me to sub on my prep for a teacher who went home sick.

When I find out 6 of my students get into the district’s juried art show.

Me before 1st period has even started on any day in trimester 3.

When I get the email that after today’s snow day, we’ll be closed for two more days due to the severe cold.

When my students finish their final show, we get strike done, and everyone leaves before a blizzard hits.

Trying to give a pep talk to my coworker midway through a rough day.

MRW one of my IEPs gets pulled for the Dept of Ed compliance review and the only thing they want changed is the progress monitoring statement.
