BIOGRAPHY !
Theodoric Krause was born into a household already filled with turmoil. His parentβs relationship was rocky by the time he was born and while they always told him they didnβt have him to fix their relationship, Theo could only wonder if that was the actual truth. Most nights his parents argued with each other, their isolated house keeping neighbors unsuspecting of how much the couple had actually begun to hate each other. Nathan would leave to go on a drive, not returning until well after midnight. He always said it was to clear his mind, to calm himself down after a fight, but that wasnβt the case. Heβd go to the bar, flirt with a couple of people, maybe throw some darts or play pool before coming home. Nathan rarely drank, never physically cheated, never got into any bar fights, but both of them were entirely miserable. Adalyn, on the other hand, felt trapped in her life. She had to take care of Theo, she had to put her career to the side for her child while her husband was able to go out every night. She wasnβt happy, then again, neither of them were.Β
It was difficult for his parents to shield him from how discontent they were in their lives from Theo, although they tried at first. Their anger never boiled over to the point where it was directed at Theo, yet he was aware his parents didnβt care for each other from an early age because often heβd be the go-between for his parents. When they wouldnβt talk to each other, theyβd make Theo carry messages back and forth. While Theo never minded because the alternative was having to hear his parents fight, it made him all too aware of the tension in his house. He grew up thinking that was normal until he went over to a friendβs house and their parents werenβt at each otherβs throats constantly. Theo tried to spend most of his time with his friend to avoid being in his own house and the never ending fighting. It worked most of the time, his mom liked having some time to herself and Theo liked being part of what was a much more stable household. While he couldnβt spend every night there, from seven to nine, Theo practically spent every day hanging out with his friend.Β
When Theo turned ten, his parents finally called it quits on their marriage, but thatβs when the real problems began. Neither of his parents wanted the other to have custody of Theo. Nathan moved out to his own apartment, officially separating himself from Adalyn. The time that Theo used to spend with his best friend and neighbor was now spent with his dad eating crappy television dinners and listening to complaints about his mother. Meanwhile whenever his mother came to pick him up, she refused to speak to Nathan at all and spent car rides home lecturing Theo on why he shouldnβt listen to anything his father told him. Theo felt like his life was more fractured than ever and he watched for over a year, the court battle got messy. So many people asked his opinion and he never knew what to say. On his eleventh birthday, the court officially came up with a plan. Theo would spend summers with his father and the school year with his mother.
As much as Theo pleaded with his mother to keep them in Aurora Bay, she didnβt listen. She moved them clear across the country to Wilmington, NC and Theo lost the only friend he had and the only family he felt like truly cared about him. Life with his mother wasnβt too terrible. She moved him back to her hometown. Another cute little beachy touristy college town, so it almost felt like he was still in Aurora Bay. He started making friends there and his life felt like it went back to normal. Theo hated when his friends started making summer plans because heβd never be able to join them when he was stuck going home to live with his dad. He didnβt like being sent off on a plane with a suitcase that was basically bigger than him every single summer.Β
Most summers were the exact same, spent cramped in his fatherβs apartment. Heβd go to the beach with his best friend, play video games, or hang around downtown with the other teens. Conversations with his dad were always stiff and almost informal. The summer he met Mireya was different though. From years of dealing with his parentβs relationship problems, Theo never really cared for anything romantic, often either rolling his eyes at movies or keeping people at a distance. When friends back home brought up dating, Theo casually changed the subject. He wasnβt the type to settle down. Feelings werenβt something he did. But from the minute he spoke to her, he knew she was different. Of course, he was his charming self with her, but it wasnβt the same, it was more genuine. Theo wanted her to like him. While he knew it could never be anything more than a summer fling, he didnβt exactly stop himself from seeing her. If he never said it out loud, then it didnβt have to be true. At the end of the summer, they both left. Theo didnβt try to contact her because life got too busy.Β
Theo made the decision to stop going to visit his father in Aurora Bay the summer after he met Mireya to focus his time on his education. He realized his life was in North Carolina and he would do his best to keep up with his dad across the country via phone and the occasional visit. He continued to live with his mom while he was working on his masterβs degree. The college he picked had a joint bachelorβs and masterβs program, so heβd be saving money. Theo wanted to become a therapist, to help people the way he never got help. He was nearly done with his masterβs degree portion when his mom got sick and despite her telling him not to, he deferred his final semester to take care of her. There wasnβt much to do other than make her final years comfortable. They took trips together, had a lot of laughs, celebrated the good in lifeβand when she was gone, Theo couldnβt find the strength to go back to finish his degree. He packed his bags, the town didnβt feel like home without his mom. So after he got his motherβs affairs in order and sold the house, he moved back to Aurora Bay to be closer to his father.Β
In the couple of months that he has been back in town, it hasnβt changed much, but his father had. Theo knew that his father met someone a couple of years back. He honestly hadnβt cared to know more, since he was dealing with his motherβs illness. He didnβt know how serious his father was about his new girlfriend until he showed up in town to find them engaged. Theo doesnβt know how to feel about it because he spent so long watching his parents be miserable together and heβs skeptical about the relationship, especially since she has a kid his own age that also doesnβt seem keen on the marriage either. His momβs death feels so fresh and he still hasnβt grappled with any of his feelings, but he is determined to start fresh in Aurora Bay and not think about the past.

"Ah, the more you know hm?" She answers, new found information that would definitely leave her mind the second she left the store.
( She can't remember the last time she did her own shopping, never mind organised a pantry. Probably sometime before her divorce, when she made more of an effort to fit into Santiagos life. A balance between her life and his, though differences proved to be too big. )
"Not like Mariah though, I don't have a meltdown ifβ" her head shakes, figuring her probably wasn't going to get her reference. "You know what, never mind."
He knew most people probably didn't care to talk about candy like this, but it was easier to talk about than other subjects. "I guess." He shrugged. Theo was still trying to get used to this town again, even though he'd moved so long ago.
"So what kind of meltdown are you planning on having?" Theo asked. He learned a long time ago not to have meltdowns over little stuff. "If it isn't Mariah level."
"Gross," he mutters, annoyed that Theo would even say such a thing. "Why?" Easton wonders, "it's not like he's spending time with you." Honestly, it's the same with his own mother and quite frankly, it's not really fair to either of them. "What do you mean? Like you have nowhere better to be? No friends? Crashing on your daddy's couch?"
It was more complicated than he wanted to admit and even if he did Easton was not the person that he wanted to talk about it with. "Yeah, well that was my entire life growing up. I was the collateral damage in the divorce when I was eight. Mom made up for it eventually, but dad... he didn't." He shrugged. Not that he thought Easton would care about it. "I have friends. They're just all busy. And no I'm not staying here. I have my own apartment. Dad's all I have left. Well other than my grandparents, but they're all in Germany."
Theo: I don't actually know. I've been staring at my wall for a few hours now.
Theo: Thinking about taking a walk to the beach. Maybe that'll clear my head.

How does your muse behave when they are with their crush / love?
"I hang on to every word they say. For the most part I'd say I don't act all that much different, but I try to make sure that I pay attention to what they want in a partner. I've only ever been in a couple relationships, so maybe I'll act differently now."

It'd officially been a year since Mireya had moved to Aurora Bay, and while she finally did feel like she'd settled in here, she did at times still feel...disjointed. And today was one of those days, seeing her just going through the motions of serving tea and wiping down tables, of politely greeting people and robotically getting by. She'd done just that too as the bell overhead rang out, signaling another new customer walking inside.
"Hi good afterno--..." Mireya's voice cut out, it felt like she'd finally lifted her head out from below water she'd been plunged into when she saw Theo there, heard his voice. Felt like she'd taken her first real breath of air that day. "Theo?" Immediately her brows furrowed slightly and she took a step closer, the edge of the counter pressing against her stomach as she got as close as she could. "No, it's--" She shook her head, frowning in concern, "Are you okay?"
He shouldn't go bother her. Theo knew that he shouldn't bother her at work, but seeing Mireya again was like a flash to that summer and how good everything had been. It was the last summer before everything changed. Not the good times because he had plenty of those with his mom, but the last summer that he'd felt carefreeβan adult with responsibilities, yet someone who didn't have to think about everything ending. He didn't think they could go back to that summer and yet when he was upset it wasn't his father he wanted to turn to.
"Sorry. I shouldn't have..." He trailed off, blinking as he walked into the room, much darker than outside. Theo shouldn't have come here. He didn't want to go to anyone. "I was just... a memory popped up on my phone. And I got... I don't know. I thought..." Again, he didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry for bothering you at work." He wasn't doing okay, but that was obvious. "I know you're working, but I'm having a bad day. It's stupid. You can't drop work to entertain me."
A memory had popped up on his phone of his mom on the beach in Cape Cod this morning and he'd been struggling all morning. There were days when it was easier to deal with all the changes in his life, but when he saw little moments from before it hurt. Theo could handle a lot, going to his dad over this was not something he was interested in. While he had friends, he didn't want to bother them about this. After all, there was only so much they could say at this point. No, what he wanted was more of a distraction. So he paced outside of the tea room for a few minutes before going on.
"Hi, um..." He had absolutely no right to come in here and bother her and yet. "Sorry. I didn't mean..." Theo sighed. "I don't know what I'm doing here."
"Yeah, I could leave, but I feel like I have to stick around to make sure that our parents don't announce a "geriatric" pregnancy or something," Easton responds, "even though they probably wouldn't notice if either of us left." He doesn't even know why he bothers. Spending time with his mom nowadays is not just being a third wheel, but a fourth wheel. Maybe he is meant to buddy up with Theo while their parents act like teenagers in love, but he's not interested. "What's keeping you from leaving?"@theoskrause
"I would think that could happen either way, unless you're planning on sleeping in the same room as them." He raised an eyebrow at Easton. He doubted that would be the case. Neither of their parents probably cared if they left. Theo didn't want this though. He never wanted this. Not being here in Aurora Bay or his dad remarrying. "My dad asked me to be here," he shrugged as if that answered the question. He didn't have any more family. "I don't have anywhere else to be either."
"It has to be." She responds, laugh falling off the tip of her tongue as though momentarily forgetting about her headache β the entire reason she'd even entered this place.
"No. Can't you buy them like that?" She asks, as if this was an epiphany.
( Bradley was born with a diamond encrusted spoon in her mouth, she didn't do normal people things. )
A shrug rolls off of her shoulders. "I guess my assistant removes them before I see them."
Theo personally didn't pay too much attention to how much red dye he ate, but he did make jokes about it sometimes.
"There's the all pink packs or whatever, but they've got the pink ones too." Theo shrugged. He didn't buy them like that because his favorites were the orange ones.
When he says 'depressing' she can't help but wince meekly, though a smile immediately surfaces. "God, it... really is very blah, isn't it?" She laughs, looking at her own bouquet again. "See, I tried a few of the more vibrant colors and, just... It felt too contrast-y... But maybe that's a good thing in bouquet..."
@theoskrause
"It's really not that bad," he responded, looking at it again. "I mean you could have done a lot worse. At least the it goes together." He'd seen one earlier with flowers that didn't go together in colors that clashed. "It really doesn't look that bad. I promise." Theo didn't know how to make a bouquet honestly, so he couldn't say much.

π GROWING HEART - if they have a crush, is it noticable? what changes when they're in love?
"I wear my emotions on my sleeve, so if I have a crush, then I am very obvious about it. It's small things, like making sure the door is open, texting them until late, offering to buy coffee or dinner if we're out together. I don't think I change all that much when I'm in love."

"I'm just going to say it because I think enough time has passed but honestly? Life Size is a better 'Barbie' movie than Barbie. I'm tired of pretending like it's not for the masses."
"Is that one of those movies I probably should have watched as a kid and never did?" Theo spent most of his childhood outside trying to stay away from his parent's arguments. "Honestly, I don't know that I ever watched Barbie either. That came out a few years ago?"
"Really." She answers, her hand moving to pull open the fridge door so she can pluck a bottle of water out from its home, her attention only returning to Theo once she had done so.
Truth was, Bradley was a whatever her chef cooked for her, or whatever was on the menu at whatever event she had in her calendar, but she wasn't massively indulgent when it came to food based treats.
"If I'm eating sugar, it's going to be Starburst, the red ones."
"Ahhhh, the ever famous red 40." Not said in a tone that was judgemental, a lightness to it. He liked it as well when he was going for something not frozen. Tonight however, was an ice cream night.
"Do you have a lot of other colors in a bowl or something? Or do you reluctantly eat them?"
Mireya vaguely remembered bits of what Theo shared with her when it came to his parents, but not enough to fill in all the blanks. His reaction to the congratulations though did give her enough insight though to give him an apologetic little smile. "I'm sorry." She told him softly, resisting the sudden urge to take a step closer, to take his hand. She hadn't seen Theo in years, she wasn't in his life anymore...she had no right to give him those comforting little touches-- not anymore.
Still, she found herself lighting up when he suggested catching up, spending time together. She'd missed him in the months since they'd...broken up? Could she even say that? In the months since that summer, so she was all too happy now to see him, especially if it gave her something to focus on other than the dread and heartache that had been circling her like vultures for days. "I expected nothing less." She told him as she motioned for him to walk with her so they could continue down the block to the coffee shop. "So how um....how've you been? How long are you in town for?" she asked, trying not to sound too eager.
The person that Theo was when he met Mireya was someone that he wasn't anymore. The fundamentals of who he was were still there, but he'd wanted to help kids in situations like his own, not be sad about the fact that his mom wasn't around anymore. He truly hoped that she didn't feel the same pain he felt. Even if his relationship with both his parents was strained when he met her, it was different than now. As much as he hated his father and the situation he was put in, Theo was aware that his dad was all he had left. "It's okay," he smiled, but it wasn't a real smile. It was the same one he'd been wearing on his face for the last several months.
But there was something comforting about seeing Mireya again, even if it was under the circumstances that he was currently in. Theo wished that he could figure out a way to balance his life. He followed as they walked towards the coffee shop. Everything felt familiar. Theo wished they were back in that summer before he knew everything was going to change. "I'm okay. How have you been?" He wasn't okay at all. He'd quit college right before finishing, moved across the country to live near his father, and he wasn't where he expected to be in life. But he couldn't outright say what was going on could he? That felt far too heavy. "I'll be here for a while." He didn't want to say permanently because what if he did leave? "I plan on sticking around for a bit. Did you... move here or are you visiting?"

"OK, honest opinion," she says, holding up the bouquet she's been carefully crafting, giving the tiniest of winces. "It's giving mini funeral arrangement, isn't it?"
"It's not... bad. There needs to be more color, I think and then it won't look so... depressing?" Not that he really knew what he was doing either. "I think it looks fine though."
"Look at that," He holds up the allegedly edible flower he's swiped out of sheer suspicion carefully, like it was personally trying to trick him. "Edible, apparently. Dare you to eat it."
"Surprisingly I've never tried edible flowers. At least aside from the ones they dry for tea." He picked up one of the flowers and ate it. "Huh, that's... not terrible. Kinda tastes like nothing."
