08.07.26 || a break of sorts
I am taking a break from Instagram, which is doing me a lot of good. I am being mindful of how I spend my time, cooked a lot today, sat in the sun for a bit and now writing again, always, as usual. Doesn't matter how awful I feel, it always pulls me back somehow.

Summer!! Despite the heat I’m so happy to be here. I’m reading for my own enjoyment and at my own pace. I’m not rushing to be anywhere or do anything. I wish life could always be this sweet
A Day in the Life of a Doctor - July
01/07/2026
Wednesday 1st July was a busy day for me at work.
We had 2 new admissions, plus a patient from the previous day who was unfortunately still struggling with post-operative hypotension
Hypotension is quite a common perioperative complication. It can range from mild, asymptomatic low blood pressure, where they can still maintain perfusion to vital organs, all the way through to severe cardiovascular instability
We monitor a patient's response to their low blood pressure by frequently checking how they're feeling - dizziness or lightheadness, syncope, and confusion are signs that their blood pressure isn't high enough to adequately perfuse their brains. We also monitor their urine output, and their observations. We often use arterial lines to monitor invasive blood pressure if they are unstable.
Treatment can range from simply observing - many patient's will sort their own blood pressure given time, and this is what we tend to do with mild, asymptomatic hypotension. Sometimes we give IV fluid, especially if we suspect dehydration or blood loss is the cause. If we believe a patient is normovolaemic, and they have severe and/or symptomatic low blood pressure, we treat them with medications such as metaraminol.
Low blood pressure can cause organ damage, such as an AKI. It can also really impact patient's recovery by limiting their ability to mobilise.
It is most often caused by the anaesthetic drugs given, and most patients recover within 1-2 days

[ 17.06.26 // wednesday ]
this wednesday was surprisingly productive! i managed to stay focused and for the first time properly tracked how long i was studying (4h 18min) - really exciting !! ⋆˚࿔ at the same time, there was still enough time for me to enjoy my hobbies. it's sad that i didn't go outside today though..
today’s little steps:
ate 4 apricots, an apple and 2 bananas;
learnt 8 new words on the topic 책거리;
finished reading "from cubism and futurism to suprematism" by k. malevich;
took notes for §4. Innovative methods of teaching (such a long one but i did it !!);
journaled a bit;
drew a picture with acrylic markers;
read 36 pages of валсарб by helena pobyarzhina.
cleaned my room;
watered the plants.
i want to try to go to bed earlier today so see you tomorrow~ i have important plans in the morning and it makes me worried, but i hope i'll get some rest and feel okay when i wake up! goodnight!
