i think we need to talk about robin’s expressions in the bathroom scene. she looks so incredibly heartbroken and the disappointment is tangible—in that moment she really believes that she’s about to lose steve. like, she made this great friend and they’ve gone through so much together but it turns out he was crushing on her and she’s expecting to lose that friendship now, because who would want to be friends with her..... and then after she tells him, and he says he’s “thinking,” she leans back and looks away and again you can tell that she’s bracing herself, preparing for the worst, believing he’s about to say something awful, and at first when he says something about tammy she’s defensive, her tone in “she is not” is almost angry but she’s also confused, but then when she realises he’s not being rude, he’s literally just treating her like any other person—the relief!! the laughter, the smile!! every lgbt person knows that feeling of “thank god, i’m safe” and maya hawke does it perfectly. anyway emmy award!!
