It's closing time at the Crossroads, and Bri's entrusting Brango and another to close. Cub, the blue haired girl, locks the backdoor and double checks it before pocketing the keys. "Soooo, Brango. How are you finding the job?" She turns to them, jumping off of the small step to stand next to them. - thenotsobigwolf
“I’m liking it a lot, actually!” They say, which is not a terrible surprise. They’ve been grinning the whole night and don’t seem like they’re about to stop. “It’s so lively, and it’s nice to be around people.”
Cub pulls them to her shoulder, letting them rest their head against her. She stays silent, letting them cry as she rubs their arm.
They lean into her. “Sorry, I just,” they take a deep breathe, and try to release it evenly but it comes out in a few bursts of air and sobs. “I didn’t realize how alone I’d been, until I moved here, and it’s just hitting home that I’m not alone anymore and things are just so much better than I thought they could be.”
"It's okay, it's okay. This place is great and now you have a kickass werewolf as your friend. Things are going to be on the up, trust me." She gives them a squeeze, continuing to comfort them. "You're not going to be alone anymore."

“I…” Cub hesitates, thinking for a moment as she tries to find something to say. “Yeah. I do get weird instincts, but they’re… more werewolf specific. The kind of instincts that could get people hurt if I don’t keep a hold on it. I have found that the best way with dealing with it is by having a good friend that you can rely on, in my case I have the Pack, which Bri is a part of. We help keep each grounded in harmony with both sides of ourselves.“
“Harmony, yeah.” Brango nods and sighs, and for the first time since meeting them they actually look tired. “That’d probably be better than just, suppressing parts of myself. Because some things that’ve changed are good, you know? Like I’m more friendly now and I’m kinda loving that, so don’t need to hold that back. But there’s other shit that I just don’t know how to deal with and it’s fucking exhausting.”
“Hey. I don’t have the first fucking clue what being a Changeling is like, but I will personally make it my job to make sure that shit stays out of your head. We’re co-workers, we have to look out for each other, right?” She gets up, moving to sit next to them. “As a great Hobbit once said, share the load.” Cub makes her best Samwise Gamgee impression, giving Brango a one armed hug.
anon; Is it OK to ask for a maned wolf bloodied up with a hole in its chest, saying “I will not give up, I will never back down”?

“Maybe next time I’ll be lucky.” She returns the fist bump, grinning.
“From what I understand getting any sort of magic kinda… sucks. So I understand what you’re getting at, I think. What I went through with my first transformation was stressful, and a little emotionally scarring, just an all round not fun time. So, yeah.” Her eyes widen a little, shaking her head to dismiss the bad thoughts. “But hey, we’re here now and this place is pretty good, here being general rather than this university rooftop.”
“This roof is pretty good too!” They flop down on it. “But yeah, this town, it’s so nice? I keep feeling like it can’t actually be real, yeah? Or I mean, never mind,” they shrug. “Oh my deal is that I’m a changeling. Realized I never mentioned that.”
“My experience here has been a blur, so not really seeing it as real is something I can get…” She perks up at the mention of being a Changeling.
“I… had a feeling you might be. I haven’t met all that many changelings- that I know of. Only the influential ones I guess… the only reason I go to Grimmick. I’m sorry that-… I’m sorry that’s something that you had to go through.”
“Yeah,” they give another single shoulder shrug, looking away. “Like I said, it sucked.” They just sit there, looking out over the city in uncomfortable silence.
“Say, do you mind if I ask you a thing about werewolf stuff?” They look back to Cub, then quickly add on, “not about first transformations.”
"Sure." She carefully rubz at one eye, tilting her head in curiosity. "I'll try and answer any question to my best ability. I'm still very new to it all as you can probably tell." She smiles softly, bringing her knees up to her chest.

“Hell yeah, this’ll do.” She grins back at them, taking a moment to scan the wall for the best starting point. “Do you wanna race to the top?” She asks, almost too casually… and with a devillish look.
Brango returns her devilish look with one of their own. “Sounds like a bad idea. Is magic allowed?”
“Magic?” Cub gives them a confused look, raising an eyebrow. “I don’t think I understand what you’re getting at there, buddy.”
Brango looks equally confused. “Wait shit but you work at Crossroads I, uhhhhhhhhhhhhh.” They turn bright red. “Never mind.”
“What, you thought I’m werewolf or something?” She can’t stop herself from grinning a stupid grin. “Not everyone at the Crossroads is something Other but… Bri and I are, at least. Yes, I am a werewolf, and yes I do work at the only werewolf owned restaurant in town.” She stiffles her giggles as she looks at the other, almost apologetically. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you like that.”
“Oh! Hah! You totally got me!” They hold up an hand for another high-five. “Man that would have been hard to explain.”
“No yeah, trying to explain shit like that is always awkward but to answer your question, yes, magic is allowed.” She gives them the high-five, smirking as she does so. “You ready to start?”
“Give me a moment.”
They kneel down and take off their shoes and socks, then shove them into their backpack. They stand up, hop from foot to foot a little, and rub their hands together.
“Okay, now I’m ready.”
“To lose?” She grins, “On a count of three, and go on go?”
She tilts her head at them, rolling her shoulders and stretching a little.
“3…” She gives them a wink. “…2…” She shifts her feet apart. “…1…”
“Go!” Brango shouts, and they immediately sprint towards the wall. They leap up, scrambling upwards, and then, they just keep scrambling. They bolt on all fours directly up the side of the wall, not looking for handholds or footholds, just gripping the brickwork as if it were a ladder. No, as if it were easier to climb than a ladder.
Invisible to most, but their claws, normally clipped, have grown back on their hands and feet. Small things, barely long enough to draw blood, but perfect for gripping onto the wall. That, and the knowledge that this is one of the things that feels right, this is what they were made to do, are what rocket them upwards.
Cub shifts into Dalu, knowing that it would be safe to do so- what with it being almost twilight and barely no one around to witness this race.
She makes a running start, able to keep up with Brango for the most part- using her claws to grip into the bricks, in a somewhat similar manner to Brango.
When they both get to about half-way Cub has to slow down in order to suss out what path would be best to take, which costs her the race as Brango makes it to the top a good half minute before her.
When she does finally make it to the top she rolls over onto the roof, panting a little as she shifts back to Hishu (human form).
“Oh boy, I’m out of practice.” She rests her head back on the ground, looking up at the sky as light faded away from the dark of night. “Well played, Brango. I should probably invest in some of that magic.” She laughs, pulling herself up.
