Announcing the Byler Big Bang 2026!

As we’ve already mentioned there will be a Byler Big Bang 2026, but since this is our fifth year hosting this event, we’ve decided to turn things a little…upside down: Instead of a normal big bang, we’ll be hosting the event in the style of a reverse big bang!

What does that mean?

A reverse big bang runs mostly like a normal big bang. Writers and artists are paired up to create corresponding fics and artworks, which they then post on a designated date during the posting period. The main difference: During a reverse big bang the artists get to choose what to draw, while the writers have their pick from the art ideas presented to them by the artists. 

This also means a slight change in schedule. While we normally wait until halfway through the event to pair up our teams, this time around claims will happen as soon as the sign up period closes to give writers as much time to work on their fics as possible.

Here are my current two cats, Purrdy on the left and Ashes on the right.

Purrdy is a bit of a menace, playful, usually whiny and specific about when he gets attention. He recently became a lap act. He also gets sick a lot and has been hit by a car before. Not a fun time.

Ashes is my fav as I am her fav. Shes more I independent and chill but very snuggly with my in particular. She usually sleeps with me at night before going out.

Ashes is most vocal when wanting into my room or wanting food. Purrdy is vocal all the time and quite high pitched, thus whiney. Ashes tolerates Purrdy at most, Purrdy always wants to play with Ashes, this leads to lots of running around and cat fights.

I don't have any cats but i always love taking pictures of them when I'm on the street so here are some from last month

i actually noticed I haven't seen any orange cats in a while 😭😭

This is Ame, my Shiba Inu ❤️🥰

She is 9 years old and I love her to bits.

She's extremely people friendly, not so much with other dogs. She loves walks down the river and playing with sand, and she's surprisingly independent. She acts more like a cat than a dog sometimes 😂

Her name means rain 雨 in Japanese.

Steve needed the “it’s okay if your crush doesn’t like you back” arc, not Will.

Mike needed the “you’re braver than you think” arc, not Holly.

Mileven needed the “shared trauma doesn’t mean we’re compatible” breakup, not Jancy.

Byler needed the “I just needed you” resolution, not Lumax.

Either Willel or Elmax needed the “you understand me better than anyone” resolution, not Mileven.

Wanted to share a quick WIP of Paladin Mike stepping out of Will's painting because I'm still on the Bravebyers bus...

everything that is happening rn all over the world for queer people shows us how important it is to have this kind of communities where love and queer identities are celebrated, and where everybody can be themselves.

it shows us why we still need to be loud (when we can) about our pride. and why we still need to show our anger at all these governments taking away our rights, and taking away more and more human rights, the rights of immigrants, of women, of people of color...

that's part of why having such a big and beautiful byler community is important, because we exist, and we're proud. we're proud of our queerness. and don't ever let anyone make you feel ashamed of that pride.

so, happy pride month to queer people in senegal, to trans people in the usa (and other queer people), to queer people living trough a genocide right now, to queer immigrants, to queer people of color, to queer women living in a country where they are being oppressed, to queers whose identity are constantly being ignored and seen as childish, and to every out and closeted queers.

and fck to all of these governments turning more and more far right...
