I know. I know. It’s so cliche to say Dark Harvest is my all time favorite episode but hear me out. There really is just so much to love about it. The framing of the episode is set up like a horror movie. The absurdity of “head pigeon”. Zim vomiting intestines. Precious bloated baby boy.

I remember watching this episode when it first aired. I was stunned they got away with displaying literal gore and instantly fell in love with the dark atmosphere and disturbing content. I think it, and the show overall, played a huge part of shaping who I am today. My love of the unconventional, the eerie, the macabre and the absurdist humor all started with this weird show about an idiot alien trying to take over the planet.
