I Like Your Spark

The people who made Aimee think she played the game wrong by prioritising story over mechanics clearly don't understand the purpose of D&D. It literally says in the Player's Handbook that you are there to tell a story with your friends. The rules are guidelines and can be chucked out if you feel it hinders the story. These people made a first time player feel bad for playing how she wanted, something that the rest of the people at her table loved and respected. The way she played was perfect for the group she was with and she fell in love with the game. That's amazing and she was brilliant. If you didn't like her style, fine. But be an adult and realise that just means she wouldn't fit in your group not that she's awful at the game. Either do better and encourage new players or shut the fuck up.
