House of Cards

The Eames House of Cards features two decks of cards the picture set and the pattern deck. The imagery used is what the Eames' called “good stuff", chosen to celebrate “familiar and nostalgic objects from the animal, vegetable, and mineral kingdoms.” The cards feature slots so the user can build a multitude of sculptures and structures.

Condition: In used vintage condition, shows some signs of wear

Kaiser Table Lamp (model 6878) Designer: Unknown Date of Design: 1960s This vintage adjustable dark grey Kaiser table lamp has a sheet metal shade and a chrome base. Kaiser lights have a strong following known for their modern, functional, and quality design. The lamp takes two screw-fit lightbulbs (E14), max 60W and is fitted with a UK plug. It is in full working order - although like all vintage electrics it is advised for you to carry out your own safety checks. In excellent condition although, shows a couple of light scratches on top and a scuff on the base.  The full height of the lamp is approx. 25cm, shade 26cm x 17cm

George Nelson On Design

George Nelson is a world renowned industrial designer. He was Director of Design for Herman Miller furniture company both Nelson, and his design studio, George Nelson Associates, Inc., designed much of the 20th century's most iconic modernist furniture. Pollo Vase Designer: Tapio Wirkkala  Date of Design: 1970 Made for Rosenthal’s Studio Line, this beautiful asymmetrical white porcelain vase features a rounded base and eleven concentric rings of tiny raised dots.  Designed by renowned Finnish designer and sculptor Tapio Wirkkala in 1970, this iconic mid-century modern piece was dubbed the Pollo vase. Pessimist

This is the Pessimist  "the glass half-empty" character by Hans Bolling. Hans created two figures were inspired by Hans Bolling's colleagues who were like night and day. True yin and yang.

Hand made in teakwood.

Please note that one of the feet has been cracked and repaired which is noticeable on careful examination.

Persuasive Percussion Volume 3

Cover Art: Josef Albers Persuasive Percussion is an LP performed by Terry Snyder and the All Stars released by Command Records (Enoch Light) in 1959. The cover artwork is designed by Josef Albers and showcases his minimalistic style. The packaging also includes the first use of the gatefold cover - which upon being unfolded lists additional information about each selection. The liner notes state the album may be used to test audio equipment due to the stereo placement of sounds independently in either the left or right channel which was extremely innovative for the time. There are four volumes in the series. In August, 1960, "Persuasive Percussion" was No. 1 on The Billboard'sv b Stereo Action Album chart In good vintage condition. Does show signs of wear.

New York Subway Map 

Designer: Massimo Vignelli

Date of Design: 1972

On 9th August 1972 the Massimo Vignelli New York subway map was released to the public. It was an abstract interpretation which was met with controversy as it was not geographically correct - the map was produced until 1979when it was replaced by a more conventional style. Vignelli's version is considered a design icon for its simplicity, and beauty. It is held in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection.

Cylinda Line Coffee Pot by Stelton

Date of Design: 1967

The Cylinda Line by Stelton and designed by Arne Jacobsen is a real design classic, it attracted much attention for its minimal and functional design. Each piece in the series is designed in correlation with eachother. The brushed stainless steel body and the unique shaped handle characterised the line. It was a stand out collection for the time and still is today. The Cylinda-Line was awarded the ID Prize in 1967 it is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Danish Museum of Decorative Art in Copenhagen.
