After getting dragged for about 5 years straight Alexandra Shipp said she’d like Storm to be played by a dark skin Black woman…There’s obviously nothing wrong with that since Storm is a dark skin Black woman. However, Alexandra said this after going on a colorist rant when ppl rightfully called her out for playing Storm. I believe ppl can learn and grow but she’s still not free from the ignorant and colorist comments she made, especially that crayola comment. She owes an apology to dark skin Black women and only we get to accept/reject it. Period.
Nice try. Storm is a fictional character, which also means that she can be portrayed as anyone whether be it a light skin woman, a white woman, or an Asian woman. It really doesn’t matter. But you know what? If colorism crybabies like you insist on Storm being a dark skin black woman, Princess Tiana MUST be played and portrayed as a light skin biracial woman. Princess Tiana was based on a REAL person by the name Leah Chase (educate yourself and look her up) who was a light skin Creole woman! If they ever have a live action movie about Princess and the Frog, Alexandra Shipp should and WILL play Princess Tiana, and everyone (including you colorism crybabies) should keep their mouths shut.
Speaking of Alexandra Shipp, I know that you and other colorism crybabies bullied, harassed, and threatened her for playing a fictional character. Which is why she doubled down and said she would rather see a dark skin black woman portray Storm. Just like you all did with Zoe Saldana and Thandie Newton, you harassed her into submission. Congratulations! But you’re not making yourselves look good at all. You’re just portraying the aggressive, angry, and insecure black woman stereotype. Keep harassing racially ambiguous women and we WILL push back! I promise you this: there is a new group of racially ambiguous light skin, biracial, and mixed race women who will NOT give in to the constant harassment, abuse, and bullying. We WILL stand tall and firm and we WILL embrace our phenotype and our features. You have been warned. Have a nice day.
P.S. Racially ambiguous women don’t owe you black women a THING! If anything, you owe us an apology for all of the bullying, harassment, and abuse. We know we will never get one because of your narcissism, so we just would rather you LEAVE US ALONE!
You have a blog dedicated to celebrating mixed women. Please kill yourself.
Storm is fictional dark skin African woman. She’s been that way forever and she should be cast as such. Why should that role be white washed for the colorist masses? People with privilege always bitch the most.
Yeah like both of Ororo's parents are from Kenya so her race and dark skin are both tied to her character and these idiots don't comprehend that. Like its the same dumb argument as to why a white Black Panther will never make sense whenever people complain about blackwashing white characters who can literally anyone since their race aren't part of their characters.
Ororo Father is African American and her Mom is Kenyan, but yeah she's black and black. Storm is dark skinned. She was in the 70s at her introduction*, 80s, and 90s. She wasn't consistently whitewashed UNTIL Halle Berry started playing Storm in the X-men franchise in the 2000s, and even then artists depicted her as darkskinned.
It's funny because all the black superheroes (70s/80s/90s) were all colored the same shade of brown for decades. Yet all the men were consistently casted as dark-skinned in live action: Luke Cage, Blade, Black Panther, Falcon, War Machine, and Phastos. But for some reason the majority of the Black women in the MCU, DC, and even book adaptions are biracial lightskins or even white: Storm, Angela Salvatore, and Cecilia Reyes in regard to the X-men specifically.
*A lot of the reprints of the 70s/80s brightened Storm's skin significantly, which are the easiest panels to find from that time.

I’M DECEASED
This is why I hate when ppl say “[insert bigotry] is so normalized” Like, you didn’t see normalized like the 2000s. It was in the movies, music, comics, tv shows.
