“Mummy, will you help me with my homework assignment?” Sarah asked showing her mother the paper she had sitting in front of her.

“Of course my darling, I would love to help you.” She squats down beside Sarah’s chair, glancing at the assignment before glancing at her adorable daughter. Smiling softly and kissing her on the forehead, Peggy speaks.

“I have you and daddy and Nana and Grandfather Carter, but I need help with Daddy’s mummy and daddy,” Sarah said pointing to the blank spots where her grandparent's names were supposed to be.

Amelia stopped in the middle of her report. She took a second to compose herself, hoping she wasn’t teary-eyed at Anatasia’s question. She looked over at the young girl, a sad but faint smile on her lips.

“She was…amazing,” Amelia answered simply.

“Really?” Ana was fascinated by her mother, she’d been only three when her mother had given her life to save the world, or at least that’s what her father and uncles said.

Honestly, her question makes Amelia’s heart break.

“She was my mother, she had me to live for,” Anastasia said glaring at the woman who sat opposite of her, she didn’t just blame Ashley for her mother’s death, Natasha held some of her anger. But most of it was aimed at the woman who personified that damn stone.

“Did you even remind her that I was waiting for her back home?” The other girl shifted inside her as her temper flared. Forcing Ana to take a few calming breaths to still the beast within her.

She glanced down at the cup of tea in front of her.

“There’s a picture of Uncle Howard inside!”
