Not bad for 58!

I was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in November of 2012. I had the prostate removed in January of 2013 and my PSA went down to undetectable levels. In late 2014 the PSA started to rise again, to the point where they called it a biochemical recurrence. In early 2015 I had 8 weeks of radiation, M-F. The PSA again went down and has been down since. I am now 57 years old.

To answer the questions:

Sex drive- I’m still as horny as, if not more horny, than I was when I was 15. My sex drive has not been affected by the cancer or treatments.

Orgasms- I am still capable of climaxing/having an orgasm. The feelings are similar but not the same. I get intense feelings of pleasure, slight pulsations, without ejaculation or the feeling of release.

One side effect is occasional release of urine when excited, usually at the point where precum would be. The muscle that normally contracts to release precum is still there but the prostate is not, and the urethra is now directly connected to the bladder.

Erections- Doing physical therapy (pelvic floor exercises), erections are more spontaneous and fuller than after the surgery, but not quite what they used to be before the surgery. The use of prescription drugs and over the counter supplements has given me an erection that is 90% of what it used to be. We have found that either Viagra alone or Viagra with Zyrexin (OTC supplement we get at Walgreens) gives us the best results.

My sex life- it’s not totally the same as it used to be, the one downside is mainly the absence of cum. It’s different in many ways but still the same in many ways. But with my understanding Wife, it doesn’t seem to be a problem. We have found new and different ways of enjoying sex and hope to enjoy it for many years to come!
