Nightmare on Elm Street part 6 Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare by Rachel Talalay who Directed Tank Girl. Robert is back but we no longer have Alice. Freddy is now wants beyond Elm Street and has Long lost Daughter he want to use her to open a portal to world to kill all the children. We have Freddy's daughter who is psychologist and helps troubled teens. Freddy sends a kid to her can't remember where he is from. The psychologist drives the teen to the town of Springwood which has group teens that hitchhiked.

This was kinda the final installment that was set in the world of Elm Street. The next film would be this weird Meta version which we can discuss later. This shows a lot of Freddys origin and his upbringing. This movie also has very little gore. it does lean heavy into the camp. There is a Nintendo style death which was all the rage in 1991. Not too many deaths happen on screen which was crazy since its rated R.

The movie also has cameos by Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Roseanne Barr and her husband at the time Tom Arnold. Also one of the teens was Breckin Meyer who was in many teen movies of the 90s like Clueless and is one of the creators of robot chicken.

Also this movie released on Sept. 13 1991 I would turn 7 the next day.

The movie score is by Brian May who did some of the Mad Max Movies.

Soundtrack also has early Goo Goo Dolls who got really big in the late 90s.

Nightmare Elmstreet 5 the Dream Child. This fifth installment by Stephen Hopkins who did Predator 2. Robert Englund returns and Lisa Wilcox also returns as Alice who is still being hunted down by Freddy who now wants Alice to bare his child.

This is one the weaker entrees to the series but has great effects with Freddy baby puppet and Motorbike transformation. Also is has very creative death with comic book nerd who gets turned into paper and is shredded. The set design in the nightmare world is always great too.

This has odd rap song made for the movie which may have been an answer to Will Smith's nightmare on my street which released a year Earlier and were sued by Studio because it was not sanctioned by the studio.

Heat makes you tired because your body works overtime to stay cool. High temperatures force your heart and metabolism to speed up. This extra work drains your energy.

Romancing the Stone by Robert Zemeckis this was his first his film after his movie used Cars was flop but is actually really funny. This stars Kathleen Turner who go on to voice Jessica Rabbit, Michael Douglas and Danny DeVito. Turner is a Romance Novel writer Joan Wilder who's sister gets caught up with some dangerous men in Columbia after they kill her husband looking for a treasure map. Joan sent her sister the map but she was captured by treasure hunters and using her sister a hostage to get map. Joan gets lost in Columbia but runs into a bird smuggler who helps her in her journey while being chased by local government and her sisters kidnappers

This is action rom com that is very much in the vein of like indiana jones which was written before Indiana jones was released. Joan is ordinary writer who goes on real life adventure that is like something she had written. The best part of the movie is when they meet Juan who is drug smuggler who played by Alfonso Arau who was El Guapo in Three Amigos.

Most the movie was shot in Mexico instead Columbia which was going drug war with Pablo Escobar at the time.

Tarzan by Disney is adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs pulp magazine novel Tarzan of the Apes from 1912. This story has been adapted several times before. This version has the voice cast of Tony Goldwyn, Minnie Driver Rosie O'Donnell and Glenn Close. The story of Tarzan is of young boy raised in the Jungle by apes but come across a human girl who he rescues from some dangerous monkeys. The girl is with group of Hunters who threaten his way of life.

The animation of this movie for 2D movie is incredible. its was a mixture of 2D and 3D Model that make the animation smooth. The story very simple but really fun and has a soundtrack with Phil Collins singing the tunes. This was departure having the characters sing the songs in the film but is not the only Disney movie to do this.

Forrest Gump by Robert Zemeckis who gave us Back to the Future and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. This movie was based on the novel by Winston Groom. The movie stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Sally Field, and Gary Sinise. This adaptation follows Forrest Gump and his whimsical life as he portrayed as idiot savant. He goes through life being kinda just stumbling into success but also has deep love for his childhood friend Jenny through the decades.

I did see this in theater in 1994 and was fan of Tom Hanks mostly from the movie Big and the Burbs at the time. This movie was a monster hit and I did get the VHS. It is fun light hearted movie which is fun going through the time periods and you get small history lessons throughout. Also I have seen people ripping into Jenny which treats Forrest so bad and runs away, but many forget she was from an abusive household and it was defense mechanism and also she may have thought she was not worthy of love, but Forrest knew what love was even being a simple minded man. It is also very emotional with several deaths that impact Forrest's life.

Fun Fact that Bubba Gump Shrimp was created after the success of the film and became a real restaurant chain. Also the VFX was major breakthrough for merging old footage with new and removing Lt. Dan's legs.

The movie has a great soundtrack and score by Alan Silvestri.

The soundtrack has way more Bangers.

M. Night Shyamalan by M. Night Shyamalan who made Sixth Sense and Unbreakable returns. The biggest name in this are James McAvoy who had hit movies like Wanted and Xmen. Anya Taylor-Joy who was really starting to breakout after the VVitch in 2015. The story is of 3 girls who get abducted by a man with multiple personality disorder, but of those personalities can change him into a beast that can crawl walls. The girls must escape before the beast is unleashed.

At the time I like many others had no Idea this was going to be connected to the movie Unbreakable. M. Night movies a pretty hit or miss. Some are really great and others are just meh. His whole shtick is to do a twist in every movie which he try to tell a story without a twist.

McAvoy gives great performance with range of all his personalities. it terrifying that his mood/personality changes on a dime. Casey also deals with repressed trauma which fuels her escape.

Crawl by Alexandre Aja who did the Hills have eyes remake and Piranha 3D. This stars Kaya Scodelario from the Maze Runner series and Barry Pepper who was in saving private Ryan and The Green Mile. We follow Haley who is competitive swimmer and its Hurricane season down in Florida. Haley's sister tells Haley to check on their father has not answered his phone. Haley tracks him down to old house which her father came under attack by a gator. Haley and her father must escape this gator infested basement before hurricane floods drown them both.

This does not have any supernatural elements but is still very terrifying. At times it feels like Jurassic Park with these gators who are very prehistoric creatures. The gators are even a greater threat as the waters rise and other bystanders who are trying to escape the hurricane are taken out one by one. If though Jaws was water nightmare fuel this ramps it up. The terror seems never ending with a constant weather dynamic making things worse.

This is so intense the whole movie. So freaking good.

Lights out by David F. Sandberg who did Annabelle creation and Shazam. This stars Teresa Palmer who was in Warm Bodies and Maria Bello who on ER and History of Violence. A family is being terrorized by shadowy figure that can only be seen is the dark. Meanwhile a mother and daughter have rocky relationship because the mother has dark secret she is unwilling to share.

This movie jumps right into and waste no time with its monster. This movie kinda reminded me of the ring with the monsters origin story and little of the others. The scares are very solid with great light tricks that build suspense. The movie is a direct metaphor for clinical depression and severe mental illness. The mother isolates herself and refuses to take her medication.

I was really surprised that this movie did not have a sequel after its success. Its was made on a 4 million dollar budget and grossed $150 mil.

the composer on the movie is Benjamin Wallfisch who worked on the IT movies and Shazam. its pretty good score too.
