The Quiet Part of the Journey - Chris MD

I won’t lie, haven’t got round to this video, I watched the one with the FFW briefly but not the rest. So I kinda guessed. I hope this is okay x needed to update so this was amazing for me

The wind had picked up again by the time Chris set the camera down.

Chris had decided a good video would be the three peaks and due to you enjoying hiking he had asked you to join in.

A part of the video he thought was interesting and intimate for the viewers was to have a mental health check in.

Once he had set the camera down he called you over and started the recording.

“I’ve decided you’re the perfect person for the mental health check in”.

“Lucky me” you half joked, before joining Chris by the camera.

“So” he started, softly. “How are you actually doing?”

“I’m doing fine, bit out breath but otherwise good”

“Come on Y/N, how do you really feel?”

“Chris can we turn this off?” You eyed the camera, instantly uncomfortable opening up on screen.

“Yeah of course” he said quickly. Already reaching over to turn the camera off.

You both didn’t speak for a moment, the wind filling the silence.

“I think I’m slowing everyone down,” you said finally, voice smaller than you meant it to be. “Like properly slowing them down”

He shook his head immediately. “That’s not true.”

“It is,” you insisted, frustration spilling over now. “I’m exhausted and we’re only on the second one. Everyone else is just getting on with it and I’m” you stopped, swallowing hard. “I’m struggling this much already. It’s a joke.”

“It’s not a joke,” he said, more firmly this time.

You let out a shaky breath, blinking too fast. “It kind of is. I said I could do this. I wanted to do this. And now I’m here thinking I might not even make it through all three. That’s. that’s embarrassing.”

Chris shifted closer, resting his arms on his knees. “Hey. Look at me.”

You didn’t want to, but you did.

“You’re not failing,” he said. “You’re doing something really hard, and you’re tired. That’s it.”

“I just didn’t think it would hit me like this,” you admitted. “It’s not even just the walking. It’s like everything at once.”

Chris nodded slowly, like he understood exactly what you meant even if you hadn’t fully explained it.

“Yeah,” he said. “That happens. Especially with stuff like this. You’re tired, you’re exposed, you’ve got time to think it all kind of piles on.”

You laughed weakly. “Great. Love that for me.”

“You don’t have to prove anything here,” he added after a moment. “Not to me, not to the others, not to the viewers . If you need to slow down, we slow down. If you need a break, we take a break.”

“I don’t want to ruin it for everyone,” you

“You won’t,” he replied. “And even if we end up going slower, that’s still better than you pushing yourself to the point where you feel awful the whole time.”

You looked down at your boots, scuffed and muddy from the climb. “I just hate feeling like this.”

“Yeah,” he said softly. “I know.”

For a second, it seemed like you might cry.

“Sorry,” you said.

“Don’t apologise,” he said immediately. “Seriously. This is exactly what the check-in was for.”

You glanced over at where the camera sat.

“Are we gonna turn that back on?” you asked.

Chris followed your gaze, then looked back at you. “Only if you want to.”

“Give me a minute,” you said.

This is based off the songs undressed and back to friends by sombr. was literally listening to the songs and thought, that would make a fic about Alfie.

You and Alfie had not known each other long.  Having met on one of the Sidemen shoots, you were friends with Harry since childhood and he invited you to take part in a hide and seek episode.  Alfie was there also and you two instantly hit it off.  Not romantically at first.  Of course you found him attractive, you slightly feeling the feelings were mutual on that part.  You had just come out of a toxic relationship, and this was very known within the group as to why Harry had invited you onto the video, to get you back out your shell and meeting people again.

Your friendship with Alfie flourished.  Of course, fans started to say you were secretly together, a rumour you both contently denied.

But something shifted last December between you both.  After going down to a local pool with Alfie, and laying down, your head resting on his chest, him scared to take a breath as he didn’t want you to move your head.  The friendship shifted slightly.  You leaned more into him when you were together, his arm instinctively going to your waist when at crowded events. 

Everyone noticed, no one said anything. You both seamlessly clueless of the shift. 

Then one night after a few drinks Alfie walked you home.  You stand in your doorway, looking up at him.  ‘Goodnight’ you said.

‘Goodnight’ Alfie replied.

You both stood there not moving.  You don’t know whether it was the drink or the tension which had been building between you both, but your eyes flicked from his to his lips.  His burning into yours.  Within seconds your lips were on his.  Him shoving you against your door as the kiss intensified.  Your hand going from his hair to the doorknob to open the door and lead Alfie in. 

He instantly picked you up guiding you to your bedroom as though it was instinct. 

Alfie gently lay you onto the bed. ‘Touch my body tender, cause this feeling is making me weak’ you said to him as he momentarily let your lips detach.

Alfie kicked off the covers, all you could see was the ceiling as he looked down at you.

That night shifted your relationship completely. More than either of you could have comprehended.

By the morning Alfie had woken up to an empty bed.  Him texting you asking where you were.

You didn’t reply.  You couldn’t do this.

The next time you saw Alfie was at The Fella’s restaurant video.  It had been weeks since you had seen Alfie.  Since that night that is etched into your brain.  Cal had invited you, not knowing the situation between you and Alfie. 

You had declined until Sabina had asked if you were going, and what outfit you were going to wear.

You sighed before entering the restaurant.  The door chiming as you walked in.

‘THERES THE GIRLS’ Chip shouted, causing everyone to look over.  Including Alfie.  Your eyes meeting briefly.  His face like stone, your eyes flicking from him, as if you had never met.  The glimmer in his eyes telling you he wanted to leave.

The video progressed, you getting up to go to the toilet, as you exited Alfie was stood there, in his chef’s hat, face hard as stone.

‘Why haven’t you spoken to me, what did I do wrong?’ Alfie instantly ambushed you.

‘Alfie, I can’t do this here!’ You tried to walk away; Alfie grabbed your arm and turned you around.

‘Y/N.  You have not replied to me, I can’t do this any other time can I?’ Alfie clearly angry dropped your arm.

‘Fine we can just forget what happed and go back to being friends Alfie, okay?  No stress’

‘How can we go back to being friends, when we just shared a bed?  You looked at me earlier like you didn’t know me.  How can you look at me and pretend I’m someone you never met?’  Alfie’s eyes glossing over.

‘It was casual Alfie, it meant nothing.  Now let it go’ You walked off, leaving a distressed Alfie to compose himself before coming back to the video.  You didn’t look at him again that day.

After that shoot you had not seen Alfie in months.  You declined every shoot he was part of, your heart not able to accept seeing him again.  But it was like you were tethered to him, you constantly felt this pull that you had to supress.

You took the train to see your mother, and looked across the tracks to see Alfie with a woman, someone you had never met before.  His arm around her like his was around you a few months ago.  Your heart dropped.  His eyes looking up and making contact with yours, you could see his face instantly drop, the glimmer in his eyes going. The glimmer that used to always be there when he looked at you.

Your heart was breaking, whilst he was moving on.  You were glad when the train cut your view short, as you got onto the train.

Weeks after you were with Sabina again out for girl drinks.  You were happily distracted for this first time since seeing Alfie with that girl. Sabina had told you Chip was meeting us after his podcast.  Sabina never mentioned to you that he was bringing Alfie. 

As soon as you saw him walk through the door, you could have been sick.  He looked as shocked as you were to see him.  He sat opposite, saying a brief hello before going on his phone.  You couldn’t breathe.  Ordering shots and more drinks top get through the night seemed like a great idea, until Sabina and Josh got up to dance leaving you alone on the table with Alfie as you were drunk.

You both looked at each other, his face showing to you he wanted to leave.  But you knew Alfie was too much of a gentleman to leave a drunk girl by herself in a club.  Even if it’s you.

‘Who was the girl?’ You asked, drink fuelling your mouth.

‘What?’ Alfie glanced back at you, eyebrows touching in confusion.

‘At the train tracks a few weeks ago, you two seemed cosy, just wondered who she was’.

‘You don’t get to ask questions like that anymore’. He looked away again at the people dancing around you.

‘Whys that, you decided we couldn’t be friends!’

‘Are you actually for real!  Y/N we had sex; you left me the next morning without even saying goodbye.  Ignored me for weeks making me think I had fucked everything up.  Then turned it round and tried to be my friend again and say it was casual, when me and you both know it was anything but! So, no.  You do not get to ask me who the girl is when I’m trying to move on’.

Your mouth opening and closing, your drunk brain trying to process what Alfie had just said to you.

‘Did you ever consider why I did that Alfie?  Okay, fair enough the way I handled it was not healthy but I did all this to protect you!’

‘Protect me, don’t make me laugh.  You did this because you can’t accept that maybe you are allowed to actually be happy.  Then when someone moves on, you pull this shit’.

‘I did this Alfie because I spent 3 years in a relationship where someone would make me feel useless, that I am not worthy of the love and kindness that you gave me naturally.  Every day we were together you healed parts of me you never broke.  But you were perfect, and I am nowhere near perfect.  I did not want to break you, and pile on the trust issues and trauma I was trying to heal in myself.  So, it was easier to push you away.  But if I’m honest since that night.  I don’t want to get undressed for a new person ever again, I don’t want to kiss someone else’s neck and have to pretend I’m doing all of this with you.  I don’t want to have to learn someone else’s scent, and see you with another girl and think she will have see eyes of a man everyday I don’t want to forget.  A man I can’t forget’. Tears coming down your eyes, Alfie instantly coming to your side of the table and cupping your face.

‘I will take every bit of baggage you have, and carry it for the rest of my life if it means I get to wake up every day to your face.  Let me be the man you need’.

The quiet moments with Morgan are what you appreciate the most. 

His life was hectic, that you knew before you started dating.  You had met Morgan just before he went into the jungle, which was hard but you survived it.  Whilst most other couples were in the honeymoon faze, you were watching you boyfriend on the screen doing bush tucker trials.

Then once he returned it was all steam ahead towards the BOV house.  You had met all the boys awhile before this, and were well aware that Morgan would have to go back and forth from the house for content.  You didn’t mind; you knew that deep down everything would work out no matter the sacrifices you both had to make for the relationship.

But your favourite moments with Morgan were simple.  Just as the sun is about to come up, and the earth is quiet, no sound other than his soft snoring can be heard.  You both snuggled up in the duvet back at his home, away from the chaos.  You turn to look at him.  No stress etched on his face, no worry.  You simply trace his features, him snuggling into your hand as you do so.  ‘You alright love?’ he mumbles, voice laced with sleep.

‘Yes, just admiring’ you hum.  Fingers moving over his eyebrows and nose as you speak.

‘Can’t say I look my best right now though darling’ he joked, kissing your palm as it cupped his cheek.

‘Perfect to me’

Another is when you are both sitting on the sofa watching a show you had found and ended up being obsessed with.  Morgan would never moan, just sit at the end of the sofa with your feet lay out on him, rubbing them steadily.  Watching as you cheered or oohed at something that was happening. 

‘What’s so funny?’ You asked, as you heard him laugh at you screaming at the TV because your favourite contestant didn’t pass the level.

‘You.  It’s not that serious but you are acting like someone’s going to end up dead’. 

‘You should have seen what I was like when you were in the jungle Morgan. Your Mom told me she was tempted to buy ear muffs I was so invested’.  You nodded with fact.

Morgan just shook his head and laughed. 

Finally, when you are both cooking together.  Youd put all the ingredients out perfectly in order of preparation time.  You had the video and recipe all printed out and ready. Morgan began making the batter for the chicken as you cut them up into fillets. 

‘Morgan, no that’s not what you are meant to add.  You are only meant to put in a cup of this flour; I even printed the recipe out for you.’

‘What this flour?’  Morgan asked as he flicked some onto your face.  Your mouth wide open in shock.  Morgan decided that this was the funniest outcome for him, and burst out laughing.

‘You motherfucker.’ You took it upon yourself to grab an egg and smash it onto his head.  Yolk spilling all down his head as you did so. His face dropped the laughter quickly ending. 

The look in his eyes changed, you knew instantly that you had fucked up.  The kitchen was ruined by the time you had both finished, you are still finding flour to this day.

I don’t usually do smut but I thought I’d get out my comfort zone.

Alfie had invited you to the fellas shoot. They were doing a podcast on relationships, and since you and Alfie had been together for a few years prior to YouTube they thought it was a good idea to invite you on.

You were reluctant at first, your life pretty private. But, Alfie begged and begged and you finally gave in.

The shoot was cosy, with them having just moved to the set. Alfie gave you a little tour before sitting you in front of the camera.

“Okay, Y/N. I know you’re not used to, too much of the camera. But, a few questions have been asked by the viewers so just try and relax and we can finally get some insight on why you’d choose AB”. Chip stated, as you sit down.

The camera crew set up the tripods, you sit back taking a deep breath as Alfie sits next to you, hand instinctively landing on your knee.

“All ready?” Alfie asked. You nodded as a response.

“Hey everyone and welcome back to The Fellas podcast. Today we are here with Y/N. AB’s long term Stockholm victim”. This made you giggle and Alfie roll his eyes. “Viewers you have sent in some questions and we are here to answer them. Well Y/N is not me”.

You gave a little wave to the camera before looking back at Chip for the first question.

“First question” Chip gets up his phone before looking at you “Has social media made relationships worse?”

You sit there for a moment before thinking. “Partly yes. Before Alfie would get some attention from women. Now he’s being shipped with everyone and their Nan. So, it’s hard in that respect. Also, people coming up to us in public when we are on dates for a photo. That can get annoying. But, there’s some positives. Alfie loves his job. Works hard at it too. Him being happy takes a lot of the issues away.”

“So 50/50 you’d say?”

“Yeah, depending on the day.” You nodded.

“Fair, fair. Okay next question. What’s the pettiest argument you’ve had?”

You laugh. “Probably over bread”

Chip scoffed “bread?”

“Oh god” Alfie laughs slightly next to you, obviously remembering the event.

“Yeah, so. I really wanted a sausage sandwich for dinner. I’d been craving it all day. Even said to Alfie, I can’t wait for this sausage sandwich. Gets to dinner time. Put the sausages in, Hash brown. All ready. Go to get the bread, I can’t find it anywhere. I ask Alfie and he said it had gone mouldy so he had thrown it out the day before. I was fuming. I thought surely you could have let a girl know in the morning after I’d said it so much. All the shops were closed, I couldn’t go and get any. We weren’t friends for at least a few hours after that. I’ve never ran out of bread since though”.

“To be honest, that’s a valid crash out”.

“Okay next question. What’s a weird “ick” you have?”

“Hm I have a few. Saying “yummy” as an adult. Calling themselves an “alpha” unironically and baby voice”. You make fake gagging noises at the end of each one.

“Has Alfie done any of these?” Chip wiggled his eyebrows.

“Have I fuck” Alfie scoffed

“I think maybe the Alpha one once. Probably why I got it.”

Questions continued for another half an hour before Chip wrapped up the podcast and you made your way home.

The podcast and video were a hit. Chip already asking Alfie for you to come on every few months to answer some questions, with it boosting their female audience.

I’ve been thinking of AB with a new born baby recently and I had to write about it

You’re curled up on the sofa, half asleep under a blanket. The house is quiet except for the soft cooing of your newborn.

A small fuss wakes you up and before you can even move, Alfie’s already on his feet. His hair is messy, hoodie half on, eyes still a little sleepy. He moves quietly, instinctive, heading straight for the baby.

“Alright, alright, I’ve got you,” he murmurs softly, and you can hear the gentle way he settles her against his chest. One hand supporting her head, the other rubbing slow circles on her back. She quiets almost instantly.

You shift on the sofa, watching him. A few weeks ago he’d have been nervous, double-checking every movement, looking at you like he needed permission. Now he moves like he knows exactly what he’s doing, calm and steady.

“She’s got you wrapped around her finger already,” you say softly.

He smiles down at her. “Course she does.”

“You’ve been up every time she cries.”

“So have you.”

“Not as fast as you.”

He shrugs, still focused on her. “I hear her.”

You make room on the sofa, and he sits down beside you, careful not to wake her. You lean into him, resting your head on his shoulder. His arm wraps around you automatically, holding you close.

“You should sleep,” he whispers.

“So should you,” you mumble.

“Later,” he says, brushing your hair back gently.

The baby shifts slightly and he adjusts her hold without missing a beat. You watch him, feeling your heart soften. He’s not just your boyfriend, he’s her dad now, and he makes it look effortless.

You lean up and press a soft kiss to his cheek. He turns slightly and kisses you back, careful, gentle.

“She’s got your nose,” you whisper.

“Unlucky,” he murmurs with a small grin.

After a while, she’s asleep again. Alfie rests his head against yours, still holding her close. “Think she likes me more,” he says quietly.

“Definitely not,” you answer, smiling.

You’re out with Alfie and the boys.

It’s one of those loud nights music, people talking over each other, drinks being passed around, everyone half paying attention to everything.

Alfie’s across the room when you first notice it.

A girl.

Standing a little too close to him.

Laughing a little too hard at something he’s said.

Your stomach twists slightly.

You try to ignore it. You really do.

He’s just talking.

But then she touches his arm.

And he doesn’t move straight away.

That’s when it gets under your skin.

You don’t storm over.

You don’t cause a scene.

You just go quiet.

Leaning back against the wall, arms folded, pretending you’re more interested in your drink than the way your chest feels tight.

You hate that feeling.

Hate how quickly it gets to you.

Across the room, Alfie’s still talking but something shifts.

He glances over.

Sees you.

The way you’ve gone quiet. The way you’re not looking at him anymore.

And just like that, his attention drops completely.

Mid-conversation, he steps back from the girl.

“Yeah, one sec,” he mutters, already walking away.

You don’t even realise he’s in front of you until his hand gently taps your chin, lifting your gaze.

“What’s that face for?” he asks.

“What face?”

“That one.”

“I don’t have a face.”

“You do.”

You sigh, looking away again. “You seemed busy.”

He follows your gaze briefly, then back to you.

“That?” he says casually. “Nothing.”

“She seemed to think it was something.”

He tilts his head slightly, studying you.

“You jealous?”

“No.”

“Liar.”

You glare at him slightly. “I’m not”

He cuts you off by stepping closer, hand sliding to your waist like it’s the most natural thing in the world.

“Relax,” he murmurs.

“I am relaxed.”

“You’re fuming.”

“I’m not fuming.”

He smirks slightly, but there’s something softer underneath it now.

“Come here.”

Before you can argue, he pulls you into him properly, one arm wrapped securely around your waist, the other hand coming up to your jaw.

And then he kisses you.

A proper kiss right there in the middle of the room.

Your brain short-circuits slightly.

When he pulls back, your cheeks are warm and your annoyance has completely disappeared.

“That better?” he asks quietly.

You blink at him. “You’re dramatic.”

“You started it.”

“I didn’t do anything.”

“You got jealous.”

“I did not.”

He leans in again, brushing another quick kiss against your lips, like he’s proving a point.

“Yeah,” he murmurs, “you did.”

You try to roll your eyes, but your hand is already gripping the front of his hoodie.

Behind him, you can feel people watching.

You can feel the girl watching.

Alfie doesn’t care.

If anything, he shifts slightly closer, thumb brushing over your waist.

“She knows now,” he says quietly.

“Knows what?”

He looks at you like it’s obvious.

“That you’re mine.”

You shake your head slightly, but you can’t stop the small smile tugging at your lips.

“Possessive.”

“Only when it matters.”

And judging by the way he keeps you tucked against his side for the rest of the night stealing kisses like it’s nothing, like there’s no one else in the room

Clingy only for Alfie - Alfie Buttle

You’re not even trying to hide how tired you are.

It’s written all over you slow movements, heavy eyes, that quiet clinginess that only shows up when you’re running on empty.

Alfie’s at his desk, headphones on, editing something for a video. Focused. Or at least trying to be.

You shuffle into the room, barely lifting your feet properly, hoodie sleeves covering your hands.

He doesn’t look up straight away.

“You alright?” he asks, eyes still on the screen.

You don’t answer.

You just walk over and stand next to him.

“Tired?” he says, softer now.

You nod.

Then, without asking, you lean sideways into him, pressing your weight against his shoulder.

He exhales quietly but doesn’t move you.

“Give me ten minutes,” he says. “Let me finish this bit.”

You nod again.

You have no intention of giving him ten minutes.

Two minutes later, you’re worse.

You slide your arms around his shoulders from behind, resting your cheek against the top of his head.

He pauses his editing for a second.

“You said you’d behave.”

“I am behaving,” you mumble, eyes already half closed.

“This isn’t behaving.”

“This is.”

He huffs slightly, but his hand comes up to hold your arm where it’s draped over him.

You stay like that for a minute before slowly shifting.

“Alfie…”

“Hmm?”

“I’m tired.”

“I can tell.”

You move around the chair and, without warning, climb straight into his lap

“You’re joking.”

You shake your head, already settling into him like it’s the most natural thing in the world.

“Just for a minute.”

“You said that last time.”

“And?”

“And I didn’t get anything done.”

You tuck your face into his neck, arms loosely around him.

“You don’t need to.”

“I do.”

You don’t respond.

You’re already half asleep.

He tries.

He genuinely tries.

One hand on the mouse, the other loosely around your back to stop you slipping.

But every time you shift, you nuzzle closer. Every time he moves, you follow.

At one point you press a soft, sleepy kiss against his jaw.

He stops completely.

“You’re making this very difficult,” he mutters.

You hum quietly, barely awake.

Another small kiss. This time just under his ear.

He pulls his headphones off.

“Right,” he says.

The laptop shuts.

You barely react.

“Done?” you mumble.

“Yeah. I’m done.”

“With editing?”

“With pretending I’m going to finish anything while you’re like this.”

He adjusts you properly in his lap, one arm wrapping securely around your back, the other hand coming up to brush your hair away from your face.

“You’re clingy,” he murmurs.

“So are you,” you whisper back.

“Not like this.”

You smile faintly and press a soft kiss to his lips, slow and tired.

He kisses you back without hesitation this time.

When he pulls back, his forehead rests against yours.

“Go to sleep,” he says quietly.

“Stay here.”

“I’m not moving.”

And he doesn’t.

He just sits there with you in his lap, holding you close, occasionally pressing small kisses to your hair, your temple, your cheek

Until your breathing evens out and you’re fully asleep against him.

The laptop stays shut.

The video can wait.

You’re sitting on the floor of Alfie’s room while he’s filming.

Well… technically you’re supposed to just be quietly existing while he records something for a video.

That was the agreement.

You brought a book, a blanket, and the intention of behaving.

Alfie, however, keeps looking over at you every five seconds.

“Stop staring at me,” you mumble without looking up.

“I’m not staring.”

“You literally are.”

You glance up at him.

He’s leaning back in his chair, camera still rolling, trying to keep a straight face while pretending to explain something to the audience.

“Anyway” he continues to the camera, “as I was sayin

Then he looks back at you again.

You raise an eyebrow.

He loses it.

“Right,” he sighs, rubbing his face. “Hold on.”

He reaches forward and pauses the recording.

“What?” you ask.

“You’re distracting.”

“You told me to sit there.”

“Yeah but you’re doing it… wrong.”

You stare at him. “I’m reading.”

“Exactly.”

“That’s not a crime.”

“It should be.”

You roll your eyes and go back to your book.

Two seconds later he gets up from his chair and walks over.

“What are you doing?” you ask.

He doesn’t answer.

He just drops down onto the floor next to you, immediately leaning sideways so his head lands in your lap.

You blink down at him.

“Alfie.”

“Yeah?”

“You were filming.”

“Yeah.”

“Your camera’s still on.”

He shrugs slightly.

“They’ll survive.”

Your fingers hover awkwardly above his hair before instinct takes over and you start absentmindedly running them through it.

“You’re ridiculous,” you mumble.

“You came to my house.”

“You told me to.”

“Exactly.”

You keep playing with his hair while he lays there like he’s got nowhere else to be.

After a minute he cracks one eye open.

“You know the camera can see this.”

You glance up.

Sure enough, it absolutely can.

“Great,” you say flatly.

He grins.

“People will love it.”

“People will think you’re clingy.”

“I am clingy.”

You laugh softly.

His hand comes up to grab yours, guiding it back to his hair when you stop.

“Don’t stop.”

“You’re needy.”

“I’ve accepted that.”

You shake your head, but you keep playing with his hair anyway.

Eventually he sighs again, completely relaxed now.

“You know,” he says lazily, “I had a whole video planned.”

“And?”

“And now I’m on the floor.”

“Sounds like a you problem.”

He looks up at you, smiling slightly.

“Worth it though.”

Then he shifts suddenly, pushing himself up just enough so he’s level with you. Before you can even react, his hand comes up to your cheek and he leans in, pressing a quick kiss to your lips.

You blink at him.

“Alfie.”

“Yeah?”

“The camera.”

He glances over at it for half a second.

“Oh yeah.”

You stare at him. “You just kissed me on camera.”

“And?”

He grins slightly, clearly not concerned in the slightest.

“Right,” he says, reaching over and pressing record again.

Then he looks straight into the lens.

“Well… the video’s changed direction slightly.”

You laugh, shaking your head.

He just leans back against you again, arm wrapping loosely around your waist this time.

And honestly?

It starts small.

You’re out with people. He’s in one of those moods sarcastic, performative, pushing jokes a little too far.

He makes one about you.

Everyone laughs.

You don’t.

It’s subtle, but you feel it. That edge. Like he’s trying to look cool instead of being kind.

You wait until you’re alone.

“Why do you do that?” you ask.

“Do what?” he replies immediately, already defensive.

“You know what.”

He exhales. “It’s a joke.”

“It’s not funny to me.”

And instead of just saying okay, he doubles down.

“You’re being sensitive.”

You go quiet. Not dramatic. Just… done.

“Right.”

And that calmness unsettles him more than if you’d shouted.

You don’t text him that night.

He waits for you to.

You don’t.

He tells himself you’re overreacting. But he replays the moment in his head anyway.

The look on your face.

That hits him harder than anything.

By the next day, he feels it. That weird hollow feeling. Like something’s off.

He hates that feeling.

“Talk to me properly,” he says.

You fold your arms. “I did. You told me I was sensitive.”

He swallows. Pride fighting with guilt.

“I didn’t mean it like that.”

“But you said it.”

Because he realises you weren’t trying to control him.

You were trying to feel safe with him.

He runs a hand through his hair, frustrated at himself.

“I don’t ever want to embarrass you,” he says finally. No jokes this time. “I thought you knew I was messing.”

“I don’t want to be messed with,” you reply softly. “I want to feel backed.”

He steps closer.

“You are,” he says quietly. “Always.”

“I’m used to taking the piss out of everything,” he admits. “Didn’t realise I was doing it to you.”

You sigh.

“I don’t want to argue with you.”

“I don’t want to lose you over being stupid,” he says immediately.

He reaches for your hands this time — not casual, not teasing.

“I’m sorry.”

“I just need you to have my back,” you tell him.

“I do,” he says. “I will.”

“You’re not sensitive. I was being a prick.”

You almost laugh.

He pulls you in properly then.

You and Alfie swear you’ll behave.

It’s filmed on the set of The Fellas podcast bright lights, big table, mics clipped on, cameras close enough to catch every tiny reaction. Across from you sit Calfreezy and Chip, both already suspicious before the episode’s even started.

“Professional,” Alfie says quietly before the cameras roll, giving you a pointed look.

“Obviously,” you reply.

You’re lying. Both of you.

The intro starts. Freezy’s in full host mode. Chip’s relaxed, leaning back, ready to stir something up if needed.

Alfie’s knee presses against yours under the table almost immediately.

You don’t move it.

He doesn’t either.

He’s nodding along to whatever Freezy’s saying, pretending he’s focused, but his fingers hover dangerously close to your thigh. Not touching. Just resting there like he’s testing his own self-control.

You shift slightly closer.

His jaw tightens.

“Don’t,” he mutters without turning his head.

“I’m not doing anything,” you whisper back.

Chip pauses mid-sentence. “Why do you two look guilty already?”

“We don’t,” Alfie says too quickly.

Freezy squints at you both. “It’s been thirty seconds.”

You sit up straighter, innocent expression locked in. Alfie clears his throat and forces himself to focus.

It lasts about two minutes.

You laugh at something and grab his arm instinctively. Your fingers linger. His hand comes up automatically to cover yours, thumb brushing lightly over your knuckles before he even realises what he’s doing.

Freezy leans back in his chair slowly. “Brother.”

You both separate like you’ve been caught passing notes in class.

“Carry on,” Alfie mutters, trying to look normal.

He answers the next question wrong. Completely wrong. Chip bursts out laughing.

“You’re not listening at all,” Chip says, pointing at him. “What’s going on?”

“Nothing,” Alfie replies, but his voice is rougher now.

Midway through the episode, you lean in to whisper something harmless genuinely harmless but your lips hover just a little too close to his ear. His hand slides to your waist instinctively, fingers pressing in slightly like he needs grounding.

He inhales sharply.

“Behave,” he murmurs, low enough only you can hear.

“You behave,” you reply.

Freezy stops talking. Just stares at you both.

“There is insane tension right now,” he says flatly.

“There isn’t,” Alfie insists.

There absolutely is.

Under the table, your thigh brushes his again this time deliberate. His hand grips your knee lightly, steady but firm.

“If you don’t stop,” he mutters quietly, eyes flicking to you, “I’m actually going to lose focus.”

“You already have.”

Chip leans forward. “Why do I feel like we shouldn’t be here?”

Freezy shakes his head. “I’m separating you next time.”

You both try to behave after that. You genuinely try. Sitting upright. Hands to yourselves. Looking forward.

But every time you laugh, you lean into him. Every time he shifts, his shoulder brushes yours. Every time there’s a pause in conversation, his fingers drift back to your waist like they belong there.

By the time Freezy finally says, “Right, that’s a wrap,” the tension is ridiculous.

Cameras click off.

The room relaxes.

Alfie stands and pulls you up with him without thinking. His hands settle on your waist immediately, like he’s been holding back the entire time.

“You’re impossible,” he says quietly, a faint smile tugging at his mouth.

“You didn’t move away,” you reply.

He steps closer, lowering his voice so only you hear.

“I didn’t want to.”

In the background, Freezy groans. “I’m banning couples.”

Chip laughs. “Next episode, opposite ends of the table.”

It wouldn’t matter.

You don’t expect him to look nervous.

Excited, maybe. Tired. Jet-lagged. A bit smug about being back from America.

But not nervous.

You’re standing near arrivals, scrolling on your phone, when you hear your name.

You look up.

And there he is.

Hood up, travel bag slung over one shoulder, eyes scanning until they land on you.

He doesn’t wave. Doesn’t shout. Doesn’t do the cool walk-up.

He just drops his bag and pulls you into him properly.

Arms tight around your waist. Face buried in your neck. No space between you at all.

“You’re squeezing me,” you laugh softly.

“Yeah,” he mutters into your hair. “Stay there.”

He holds you longer than usual. Longer than is normal. His fingers grip the back of your hoodie like if he loosens them, you might disappear again.

When he finally pulls back, his hands don’t leave you.

He looks at your face like he’s checking you’re real.

“Hi,” you say.

“Hi,” he replies, quieter than you expected.

“Miss me?”

He exhales through his nose, trying to shrug it off. “America’s loud.”

“That’s not what I asked.”

He stares at you for a second longer.

“Yeah,” he says simply. “I did.”

The clinginess starts immediately.

In the car, his hand rests on your thigh the entire ride. Thumb moving absentmindedly like he needs contact.

If you shift, he adjusts with you.

If you move his hand, it finds its way back.

“You’ve been back ten minutes,” you tease.

“I’ve been gone weeks,” he replies. “Let me live.”

When you get inside, he doesn’t even take his shoes off properly before he’s wrapping his arms around you again from behind.

You’re trying to make tea.

He’s attached to your waist.

“You can sit down,” you tell him.

“No.”

“You’re jet-lagged.”

“Don’t care.”

His chin rests on your shoulder. His hands slide under your hoodie just enough to feel your skin, warm and grounding.

You turn slightly to look at him. His eyes are half-lidded, tired but calm.

“You okay?” you ask.

He nods against you.

“Just missed you.”

You try to walk to the living room.

He follows.

You sit down.

He sits right next to you.

When you shift to grab the remote, he pulls you back by the wrist gently.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m still here.”

“Yeah. Sit properly.”

“Properly?”

“With me.”

So you sit. And he immediately drags you into his lap like that’s the obvious solution.

“You’re heavy,” you say.

“Rude.”

But his arms tighten around you anyway.

His face presses into your neck again. He inhales like he’s memorising your scent.

“You didn’t FaceTime enough,” he mumbles.

“You were out every night.”

“Yeah, but it’s not the same.”

He hated sleeping alone.

He hated waking up and not reaching for you.

He hated that weird time difference where you were living your day and he was finishing his.

The entire day goes like that.

You try to go to the bathroom he waits outside the door.

You try to tidy something he follows you room to room.

At one point you stop in the hallway and turn around, almost colliding into him.

“Why are you actually glued to me?”

He looks down at you like it’s obvious.

“Because I’ve been in a different country.”

“For a few weeks.”

“Exactly.”

You roll your eyes, but you can’t stop smiling.

Later, when you’re both lying on the sofa, he pulls you so close you can barely move.

“You’re suffocating me.”

“No I’m not.”

“You are.”

“Good.”

You laugh, but his arms don’t loosen.

Your fingers drift into his hair and he melts instantly. Actually melts. His breathing slows. His grip softens but doesn’t leave.

“You’re not going anywhere tomorrow, are you?” he asks quietly.

“I live here.”

“Yeah, but like… anywhere.”

You tilt your head. “Are you scared I’m going to America now?”

He huffs lightly, but there’s something real underneath it.

“I just don’t like being away from you.”

Just presses his forehead against your collarbone and tightens his arms again.

You wrap yourself around him properly this time.

“I’m not going anywhere,” you tell him.

He nods slightly.

“Good.”

And even hours later, when you’re getting into bed, he pulls you close again leg tangled with yours, arm draped across your waist, fingers laced with yours under the blanket.

Usually he shifts away after a bit.

Tonight he doesn’t.

If you move even slightly, his grip tightens instinctively.

You whisper, “You’re clingy.”

He murmurs sleepily, “Shut up.”

But he presses a kiss to your shoulder.

Hello, I am back!  This is my first time writing in awhile because of Uni and everything so I hope you enjoy!  If you would like to request a written piece please look at my prompt list located on my masterlist, Thank you!!!!

Your blood was boiling.  You swore you could feel it bubbling in your veins as you repeat what you overheard over and over in your mind.   You and Tommy had not known each other long, but with your father owning a vast amount of land and property in Birmingham and surrounding areas it was only a matter of time until you both bumped into each other.  It was his confidence that first attracted you, the way he could make everyone hang onto every word waiting to see he was going to react.  Everything mesmerised you, so when you got a call from his company accepting the deal him and your father were negotiating on, with a request that you would go on a date with him you immediately accepted.  A few months later, you both were wedded.  Your father’s over enthusiasm for this did not seem to faze you back then, but now it completely enraged you.  

A few nights ago, you were packing Tommy’s dinner for when he come back from his office which he had been every night for the past few weeks.  A thought came to your mind then that you would surprise him and bring his food to him, and so you could see him and hopefully convince him to come home earlier. With this; you placed his meal in a bag, slipped on your coat and shoes, and made your way to his office.  

You entered as quietly as possible.  What you didn’t expect was numerous voices to be heard, Tommy had told you he was alone for most the nights.  What confused you even more was hearing your fathers voice. There were no new deals to be discussed, and further to this the deal they had discussed before was not one that needed negotiating.  You placed the meal down on the table before standing by the door to overhear what was being said.

“I am glad our deal went to plan, although I am shocked it went as well as she is not usually that cooperative” your father half laughed while Tommy sipped his whisky before laughing with him.

“She is stubborn, but like you said us getting married made sense.  We are more powerful united, I did not expect to get on with her as well though Y/D/N, you have a good one there.” You heard footsteps coming towards the door which snapped you out of your trace and made your run towards the door and back to your house.

Now you were sat in bed, anger causing your vision to blur as you waited for Tommy to get home.  Your whole marriage was a sham, a contracted deal between your husband and your father just to strengthen their alliance. Your heart was breaking, you loved Tommy with all your heart and to find out it could all be a lie, you did not want to believe it.  

The door downstairs jingled as you heard Tommy’s shoes be taken off and him make his way upstairs.  You swung your legs over the side of the bed waiting for him to enter. Your heart thumping in your chest as the door handle turned to reveal your husband standing behind it.  His face sunk as he saw you sitting there, not expecting you to be awake.    

“Y/N what are you doing up?” he asked before taking off his jacket and starting to get ready for bed.  He glanced back at you when you did not respond, his eyes looking across your features trying to understand why you looked so angry.  “Why did you not come and say hello before you left with dropping my meal, I would have loved to have seen you.  Could have had a quickie in the office” he half laughed before stroking your arm making you flinch.  His eyebrows knitted together.

“I don’t think that would have been appropriate with my Dad in the room, what was it you were talking about again?  I did not think that you were having a meeting with him today?” You crossed your arms over your legs, trying to get yourself as far away from your husband as possible.  Normally you could not get enough of him, today you could not think of anywhere better than further away from him.  

His smile faltered before he quickly responded, “Oh just some more business, you know about the land and such”.  This stabbed at your heart, you were hoping he would be honest.  Now the fact that he just lied to your face and lied about your whole marriage brought you over the edge.  

“I think you should sleep in the guest room tonight Tommy” Your voice cracking, you tried to cover it with a cough, but he heard.  

“Y/N, baby what’s wrong.  Who’s upset you, please tell me what’s happening.  I am not sleeping downstairs, why would you want me to do that?” he knelt down beside you, trying to grab your hand which you pulled away.  

“I heard you Tommy, you and my Dad.  The fact this whole marriage was just a sham, a deal so you could get more land of my Dad.  Well, I really hope it was worth it because you have completely shattered my heart.  I love you!  I married you because I love you, yet you married me for some grass and a pile of muck!  Is that all I am to you?”  you could no longer hold it in.  Your tears falling onto your cheeks, your heart hurting.  

His face sunk; he did not mean for you to hear any of that. “Y/N let me explain please.” You did not want to hear anymore hurt but your energy was so drained that you could not even mutter one more word.  “At the beginning, yes it was for the deal, but I was still mesmerised by you.  I was and still am in love with you.  I am so sorry that you had to hear all of that, but that really is not the case anymore.  You took me by surprise, I did not expect you to do what you have to me, but I am so in love with you.  I know you wont forgive me straight away, being stubborn is one of my favourite things about you.  But, please give me a chance to show you that the contract means nothing to me, but the fact I love you.” His eyes were slightly wet, his hands shaking in yours as his eyes pleaded with you.

“I think for tonight you should sleep downstairs Tommy”. That was all you were able to say before your voice cracked again.  He nodded at this before kissing you on your head and going out the door.  

The curtains were slightly open allowing a small essence of light into the suite. Harry was sprawled out over the king sized bed, his alarm only minutes away from chiming. The birds had awoken and with this came a day like no other.

You had snuck into Harry’s room only moments before, not to wake the dreaming boy, but to leave a letter. One that you had re-read over 100 times. You see, you weren’t much for romance. Certain things about it made your skin crawl, but today was to be the most romantic of all. Your wedding day. Had you thought it had been Harry from the beginning you’d have better prepared, you’d have written the letter way as soon as you lay your eyes on the boy when you were 7. But then it wouldn’t have been a surprise, and most importantly of all your very own fairy tail.

The letter that you gave him, was one of feeling. It allowed you to express everything you could, with words you never knew you’d speak. That’s what love does to you, allows for a person to become someone else. Even if it’s for a short time, you allowed yourself to be just that little bit more cringe.

The alarm finally chimed, just as you entered your own room down the hall. Harry groaned having not grasped just what the day entailed. As soon as his brain registered, you came to his mind and a smile was engraved in his skin. He instinctively patted over the other side of the bed, you knowing he would do this you’d placed the letter there.

Harry’s eyes opened slightly feeling the crisp envelope under his fingertips. Over the front was his name, written in your hand writing. He sat up slightly just enough to be able to read what’s inside. The sheets started to crumple up at his stomach, his tongue darting out to wet his lips as his thumb glided over the opening of the letter. As his eyes skimmed over the words he could have sworn he fell even more in love with you...

- Dear Harry, My Future Husband...

When I was younger I wanted to write a letter to my future husband, I wanted to express to who ever that may have been how much I loved them. How much even though I hadn’t even met them yet, that they meant so much to me.

But, life came around and I forgot all about this little letter. Until I met you Harry. This letter is not only to my soon to be husband, but to my soul mate and best friend. You see, never did I think the boy who used to tease me in middle school would be the man I’m head over heels in love with today. You bring not only the best out of me but also the worst. Because, never would I have imagined ever writing a letter just like this one to a man that’s as breathtaking as you.

I’m not just talking about your looks (though they are a factor) but your personality, the way you are when we’re in the garden at summer and you notice a new flower growing. Your face when you’re writing new lyrics and they all begin to make sense. When someone opens the door open for you. There’s so many things that I’m afraid if I continue you’ll miss the wedding, and we can’t have that can me?

I remember when you first asked me on a date, I wasn’t expecting much considering back then you didn’t have all the money you have now... (I’m joking x) but I definitely didn’t expect all the thought you had put into it. The picnic, the fairy lights, and every other little aspect that you had gathered from our 5 minute conversations in the lift up to our offices. I knew then that I had to marry you, I couldn’t possible let you go.

Harry, I hope you’re sitting there reading this and realising how amazing you are. How much I really really love you. I find the word doesn’t even do my love for you justice, because my heart physically grows when you’re around. I didn’t think I could ever be this happy, and I genuinely do not believe I would be without you by my side.

Now to the main part. We’re getting married today. It’s strange for me to write that as I think it probably is you reading it. I’m going to be your wife, Mrs Styles. Now isn’t that something.

I promise to you now that I will try my hardest and more to make you the happiest man on this earth. I promise that every argument that we have will be solved in that day. I promise that I’ll scratch your back just where you like it most. And most of all, I promise to love you for the rest of my life.

I cannot wait to start life with you, I cannot wait to have a family with you, finally I cannot wait to see you at the end of the aisle.

I think I should finish here mainly because my hands hurting.
