Youâve been rehearsing small talk in your head the entire car ride. Alfieâs hand stays wrapped around yours, thumb brushing your palm every so often, like he can sense your nerves without you saying a word.
âTheyâre honestly going to love you,â he says for what must be the tenth time.
You glance at him, raising a brow. âYou said that before we left the house⌠and before we got in the car⌠and halfway here.â
âYeah,â he grins, eyes on the road, âbecause I know what youâre like. Youâll overthink everything, then realise five minutes in theyâre just a bunch of idiots in hoodies. Maybe except Sabina and Livâ
âThatâs not reassuring.â
He laughs, squeezing your hand again. âYouâll see.â
The pub is already buzzing when you arrive. The low hum of music mixes with the clinking of glasses and bursts of laughter that rise over the chatter. You scan the room instinctively, taking in the crowd until Alfie nods toward a corner table. Itâs not just a groupâitâs a pack. Coats draped over chairs, half-empty pints, someone gesturing wildly mid-story.
âAlright,â Alfie murmurs, leaning down slightly. âBreathe. Just be you. Theyâve been dying to meet you.â
You give him a look that says âeasy for you to say,â but follow him anyway.
âOi! Look who finally decided to show up!â
The voice comes from JoshâChip, as Alfie always calls him. Heâs already half-standing, waving dramatically like heâs announcing royalty. âThis is her?â
You nod awkwardly, offering a small wave. âHeyyâŚâ
Chipâs grin widens. âBlimey, sheâs real.â
Everyone at the table laughs, and before you can even sit down, SabinaâChipâs girlfriendâstands to greet you with a warm hug. âHi! Finally. I feel like I know you already.â
âDo I want to know what heâs been saying?â you ask, glancing at Alfie.
Sabina smirks. âMostly good things. Mostly.â
Alfie rolls his eyes, pulling out the chair beside him for you. âIgnore them. Theyâve been planning this like itâs some kind of initiation.â
Arthur (the first Arthur, as you later learn) leans over, shaking your hand. âWelcome to the madhouse. Iâm Arthur, and thatââ he gestures lazily to the other end of the table ââis the other Arthur. Arthur H.He insists on the H, like weâre going to mix him up with a loaf of bread. We sometimes call him finchy though.â
Arthur H lifts his glass in silent salute. âTo be fair, it has happened.â
George is next to chime in, cheeky grin already plastered on his face. âSo you do exist. We thought Alfie was just editing stock photos to keep us quiet.â
Cal, sitting with his back half-turned, adds without looking up from his phone, âI had money on that theory. Guess I owe George a fiver.â
You laugh despite yourself, tension loosening a fraction. âSorry to ruin your bet.â
Isaac leans in then, a calmer presence amidst the chaos. âIâm Isaac, but you can call me bach, this is Liv,â he says, nodding to the girl at his side who gives you an easy smile. âIgnore half of what they say. Itâs mostly noise.â
âHey!â Chip protests.
âSee?â Bach grins.
As the evening rolls on, you slowly find your place. The first pint helps. So does the fact that Sabina keeps giving you little reassuring smiles whenever the conversation gets too fast, and Liv quietly nudges you when someone makes a joke youâre not supposed to take seriously.
Chip tells a dramatic story about a disastrous road trip, complete with wildly inaccurate sound effects. Arthur H tries to get you to pick a side in a debate about which of them is worse at FIFA. George keeps teasing Alfie about how quiet heâs beingââNot used to sharing the spotlight, mate?ââand Cal occasionally drops a single sentence that sends the table into chaos before going quiet again like nothing happened.
At one point, you excuse yourself to get a drink and when you come back, you catch Alfie mid-sentence:
âSheâs amazing, honestly. You lot are lucky she even agreed to come out with me.â
Your cheeks warm. He doesnât notice youâve returned until Chip points behind him. âCareful, mate, youâre getting soppy.â
Alfie turns, caught red-handed, and just shrugs. âYeah, and?â
Later in the night, the group starts talking about an upcoming trip theyâre planning.
âYouâve got to come,â Sabina says, eyes lighting up. âItâs chaotic, but fun. Weâll make sure Alfie doesnât forget the snacks this time.â
âOr his shoes,â George adds.
Alfie groans. âIt was one time.â
Arthur winks at you. âYouâll learn quickly: thereâs always a story about Alfie.â
You grin, leaning back against your chair. âIâm starting to collect them already.â
By the time the table starts to empty and people peel off to catch cabs, you realise your cheeks ache from smiling. Sabina hugs you again. Liv squeezes your arm gently and says, âSee? Not that scary.â
Chip yells across the pavement as you all step outside, âShe passed! We like her! Keep her, Alfie!â
Alfie shakes his head, muttering something about âidiots,â but when his hand finds yours in the cool night air, itâs warm and certain.
âTold you,â he murmurs as you walk toward the car. âYou fit right in.â
You glance at him, a small, quiet smile tugging at your lips. âI think I do.â
The night air is crisp as you all head back to George and Arthurâs flat (you also manage to meet chris there) after the pub. Everyone is joking, bumping shoulders, and Alfie keeps glancing at you like he canât quite believe youâre here with him, laughing at all the chaos.
âHonestly,â he mutters under his breath as you slip your hand into his, âtheyâre a nightmare.â
You laugh softly. âYou love them.â
He grins, leaning close so only you can hear. âYeah⌠but I love you more. You just survived meeting all of them without running away. That deserves something.â
You glance at him, raising an eyebrow. âOh? And whatâs that supposed to be?â
He hesitates, cheeks warming slightly. âA kiss, maybe⌠in private?â
Before you can respond, Chip pops his head out the door. âOi! Lovebirds! Donât disappear before we get a group photo!â
âAlfie!â Sabina chimes in, grinning, âYou said private!â
Alfie groans, dragging you gently into the hallway just out of frame. You both laugh, the sound blending with the echo of the friends teasing in the background.
Finally, the hallway is quiet. Alfie tips his head toward you, his hands brushing your waist. âYou make my world less⌠chaotic, in the best way. I didnât think anyone could handle all of thisâand yet here you are.â
Your heart swells. âGuess I just like chaos.â
He laughs softly, forehead leaning against yours. âYeah⌠but your kind of chaos is my favourite.â
And when he kisses you, itâs gentle, a little messy, and full of the quiet warmth of knowing that no matter the friends, the pub, or the jokes, thisâyou twoâis exactly where youâre meant to be.
As you pull back, still smiling, you hear the faint shouts of your new friends behind the door:
âOi! Youâre never gonna hear the end of this, Alfie!â
Alfie can just tell that it was chip shouting that and just squeezes your hand, grinning. âGood. Let them talk. Iâve got the best part right here.â
And somehow, amidst all the chaos and laughter, it feels like the calmest, sweetest moment in the world.

Commenter 1: omg did you see the way Arthur looked at y/n?????
âł Commenter 2: Fr fr he was smitten
Commenter 3: get y/n and Arthur in a team next time Chris
Commenter 4: y/nTV is going to happen Iâm calling it now!!!!!!
Just a few comments flooding in ChrisMDâs latest video, this one with yt/nâs pub golf debut:
Y/n was quite new to the content creator scene. She created a few vlogs and reaction videos here and there with little to no views, despite her efforts and good content. Her TikToks were the same. Until one day one YouTube video exploded, her subscriber count grew, alongside TikTok followers. All of a sudden one George Clarke would comment on one of her TikToks, and she slowly became good friends with him. Their friendship became more well known after guest starring on the Useless Hotline podcast. Following that, she collaborated with BambinoBecky on her own channel.
Through George and Max, y/n met ChrisMD and Arthur Hill, and thatâs how she wound up on one of Chrisâs pub golf videos.
There was no particular theme to this pub golf video, until the costumes came out of course. With Calfreezy as the usual referee, dressed in usual ref attire, the pairs and costumes were as follows:
Arthur TV and Chip in dog onesies, AKA âBone Appetiteâ
ChrisMD and George in pickle costumes, AKA âTeam Gherkingsâ
Y/n and Becky dressed as post-women, AKA âThe Fe-mailsâ
This is y/nâs first time meeting Arthur, Cal, and Chip, but she was quite nervous about meeting the Arthur TV after heâd been so hyped up by George and Arthur Hill.
With Arthur turning up later (as usual) they didnât get a chance to properly meet each other, aside from quick âhellosâ and name introductions before the filming began. If she was honest, y/n was always intrigued by Arthur, both from his content and the anecdotes sheâd heard from George, Chris, and Arthur Hill. What she didnât know was that Arthur was also very interested in meeting her, loving her content after being shown it by George and Chris on separate occasions. âYouâd love herâ theyâd say.
When y/n and Becky pose for their team introduction in the video, y/n feels a little shy with the eyes and cameras on her in the open public, but she mentally prepared for this beforehand and perseveres. Becky has her arms folded, whereas y/n is holding some prop envelopes up whilst smiling at the camera. âThatâs perfect!â Chris giggles. Stepping out of shot ready for Calâs referee posing, y/n locks eyes with Arthur after feeling him looking, and almost immediately, Arthur diverts his gaze, embarrassed.
Chip and Arthur step in frame for their clip, Arthurâs eyes kept finding their way to y/n, which she swears she can see in the corner of her view while she chats with Becky. Y/n and Becky then turn to watch the boys, and y/n meets Arthurâs gaze again and this time, she gives him a small smile before he can look away. His eyebrows slightly raise for a brief moment before he grins back, his sweet eyes squinting. âReady mate?â Chip suddenly asks him, snapping Arthur out of his short daze. They pose, Arthur softly smiling to the camera whilst Chip pants with his hands up T-Rex style, making Arthur laugh and shake his head. All of this gets caught in their slow-mo introduction footage, making it both charming and funny.
Arthur looks to y/n again, still chuckling, and was delighted to see that she too was laughing at Chipâs antics. âGood to know we have a similar sense of humourâ, he thinks to himself.
âHe fancies you I recon,â Becky whispers to y/n, giving her a smirk and a slight elbow nudge. Y/n turns to Becky, eyes widening.
âWhat- Who?â she replies. Although she knows who Becky meant, she is just baffled to hear it. Before Becky could repeat herself, Arthur and Chip join them, as George and Chris step up for their shot. Arthur steps next to y/n. Y/n scoffs at the âGherkingsâ as they both flex at the camera, finding their pose choice amusing despite their outfits. âThose divvies,â Arthur chuckles, adding to y/nâs amusement as he leans more towards her. She giggles and adds âShouldâve called themselves prick-les,â her comment eliciting a hearty laugh from Arthur. His elbow brushes against her upper arm as he leans back, catching her off guard as she realises how close theyâre standing.
She feels her heart race as she smiles to the ground awkwardly, Arthur also looks down and takes a small step back, feeling his cheeks burn. Becky gives y/n another small nudge with her elbow as she lowly lets out an âOi oi.â
âGuys,â Chris calls out, catching everyoneâs attention, âwe just have to do the one-to-one questions and then weâre ready to start!â
Chris is up first as the cameraman asks how drunk heâll get. He gives his usual answer of saying heâll be plastered. George is next, then Chip, then Arthur.
âWell, if weâre talking dog years, Iâll be drunk seven times sooner. Or later?â Arthur answers, giving a cheeky chuckle at the camera. Y/n overhears and smiles at his cute joke. She already thought he was cute in his videos, but seeing his behaviour in person just solidifies it.
Beckyâs up next, saying sheâll smash it and proudly states that sheâs a girl who can handle her drink. Y/n, not so much, realising what sheâs got herself into as she steps up into shot. âHow do you think youâll fare today?â the cameraman asks.
âIâm a lightweight,â she starts, âbut Iâll promise to deliver-â then awkwardly laughs at her lame joke, hiding her face behind her prop envelope and shaking her head with embarrassment.
âOh y/n!â Becky shouts, laughing herself, âAnd this is you sober, weâre screwed!â Y/n joins her teammate, whispering an awkward apology for what she just witnessed. Arthur on the other hand, finds her joke adorable. Becky puts an arm round her, about to say some reassurance before Chris calls to the group.
âRight, thatâs all done,â he shouts, clasping his hands together, looking to the camera that just filmed their mini interviews, âletâs all head to the first pub.â The rest of the crew all grab their cameras and start recording as the group starts walking.
The pairs talk amongst themselves for a bit, mostly small talk while the camera crew get shots of them walking. Chris talks to one camera with George up ahead, leaving the Fe-Mails and Bone Appetite to gather together behind.
âSo y/n,â Chip starts, âis this your first pub golf video?â
âYeah it is,â y/n replies smiling, âthis is my first collab out in the public too, and with this many people.â Chip and Arthur both nod. The camera man puts the camera on them, catching the conversation that follows.
âSheâs a lightweight as well,â Becky chimes in, eliciting an âuh-ohâ from Chip. âShe got tipsy on our video together and she barely drank!â Becky continues as the others chuckle.
âI remember seeing that!â Arthur adds with enthusiasm, looking to y/n as he walks his way closer to her. âIâm sorry but youâre not surviving today!â
The cameraman moves to Cal, whoâs walking at the back to make sure no one falls over already or insults the crew, either action earning them a shot or a point for their team.
Knowing sheâs off camera, Becky gently clasps her hand over the mic attached to her shirt collar and leans to y/nâs ear. âHe definitely fancies you, Arthur does. I can tell,â she whispers with a grin. Y/n just shakes her head with a shy smile.
Chip and Arthur look behind to the girls whispering, then to each other, shrugging with confused smiles. They walk slightly further ahead and Chip looks over his shoulder at them. âThe chemistry is mad already bro,â he quietly says to Arthur. Arthur looks at him and furrows his eyes in confusion.
âThose two?â he questions, leaning his head towards Chip to hear him better.
âNo bro, you and y/n. Donât tell me you donât feel it.â He clarifies, giving Arthur a tap on his shoulder.
Before Arthur can attempt to protest, they reach the first pub. Taking seats outside, the teams sit opposite each other and Cal grabs himself a seat at the end of the table. On one side of the table is George, Arthur, and Becky; the other side dons Chris, Chip, and y/n. Y/n and Arthur are both silently thankful to not be sat together at first, as neither creator wants the other to feel any rising heat, especially after the conversations they both just had. Unfortunately for both of them, they realise they are right in each otherâs line of sight, and the cameras might pick up on any awkward exchanged glances.
The pints are brought to the table by a couple of crew members, with one pint placed in front of each participant. âRight, the rules for the first game are simple,â Cal bellows to the camera facing him, âEach player must down as much of their pint as possible within 10 seconds. The pair with the most beer drank gets 1 point, the next team gets two points, and the slowest drinkers earn 3 points.â The cameramen capture shots of the creators listening to the rules and close-up shots of the beers. Cal continues: âIf a player spills any drink, fall over, or pukes, they earn either an additional point or can instead take a shot as a forfeit.â
The girls go first, Becky downing her drink almost perfectly. She leaves a little foam at the bottom, and Chip and Arthur try arguing that the drink is incomplete, but Cal allows it to count as an empty drink. Y/n wraps her hand around her glass, looking to Becky as she says âIâm so sorry,â with a sheepish smile before gulping as much as she can, leaving the pint glass with about a third of beer left when her 10 seconds are up. She sets her glass down and wipes her lips, frowning and shaking her head at the bitter flavour.
âWeâve got this in the bag bro!â Arthur chuckles as he smirks to Chip, giving him a hi-five.
âYeah, youâre shit y/n!â Chip joins in, causing the table to laugh at his sudden unnecessary comment.
âWoah, manners Chip!â George retorts.
âRude!â Becky shouts, feigning an offended face to Chip.
âNo offence y/n!â Arthur adds with a cheeky grin, locking eyes with her. She secretly adores hearing him say her name.
âNone taken Arthur,â she returns with a big smile, Arthur feeling his face burn, also loving the way his name rolls off her tongue.
The dogs are next up to play. Arthur goes first, using his two handed grip and only just downing the pint in one within the time limit, leaving no foam behind. Chip hi-fives him again, shouting âYes brother!â Arthur proudly beams, looking down at his lap before his eyes quickly dart up to y/n, seeing sheâs smiling whilst still looking at his completely empty pint glass. âHere we go, bone appetite!â Chip declares as he downs his drink, leaving just a small amount at the bottom of the glass.
âWell weâve lost then!â Becky laughs, faking anger and slamming her hands in the table. Y/n is about to protest before realising Georgeâs turn is next and heâs a drinking machine. George confidently grasps his drink. âAh weâre cooked!â Chip murmurs to Arthur. George effortlessly gulps his drink down with 3 seconds to spare, cockily exhaling as he slams his glass down.
Chris is up next, gesturing a cheers towards George before downing his pint. âLook at the way he grips that thaing!â Arthur calls out in a slight accent, causing Chris to jerk his head forward to giggle and spill a couple of drops of beer onto the table. âOh! Spillage!â Arthur shouts gleefully as he points at the new stains. Cal looks to Chris with his mouth open and the camera zooms in on the table. Chip and y/n are laughing as Becky shouts âWaaay!â. Both Chris and George argue with Cal that itâs unfair for them to get penalised as Arthur made him laugh. Cal coldly looks to them both and states âSpillâs a spill Chris, do you want to take a shot or a pint.â
Chris rolls his eyes and asks for a shot. Amongst the spilling drama, Chris didnât finish his pint, leaving it half empty and starting off the scores as:
Bone Appetite: 1 point
The Fe-Mails: 2 points
Gherkings: 3 points
As the group head off to the next pub, Arthur jogs his way up to y/n. âIâm sorry for my comment before,â he starts, smiling at the floor sheepishly, âwhen you finished your drink.â
âOh thatâs okay, I didnât take offence to either of you, donât worry!â Y/n replies, giggling quietly at his sweet apology.
âOK, good!â Arthur chuckles, feeling relieved, âI have a habit of dishing out insults when IâŚâ he stops himself for a second, âget to know someone.â he ends, thinking on his feet.
Y/n shrugs, trying to look nonchalant, âI enjoy the banter, Iâm the same.â She replies.
Arthur beams as he looks to his crush. âI see, what else do you enjoy?â They start exchanging interests, followed by facts about science, animals, anything really as they continue leading the group towards their next destination.
Behind them, Chip and Becky walk with George. âBroâs in loveâ Chip says as he gestures ahead, a little too loud, but the pair at the front are in their own world and donât hear. Becky and George agree, giggling. âI think she feels the same way,â Becky replies with a genuine smile.
Behind the trio, Cal and Chris are being filmed from behind while they talk, the angle capturing all the players in one frame.
Chip jogs forward to join Arthur and y/n. âWhat are you two nerds yappinâ about?â he asks them as he wraps an arm round Arthurâs shoulder.
âNerds?!â Arthur fake cries.
Simultaneously, y/n replies with âSpace,â with a grin. A crew member joins to record them, walking backwards ahead of them, capturing the three in frame.
âNice. Y/n, you feelinâ lightheaded yet?â Chip directs towards her, leaning forwards to look past Arthur. Arthur turns his head to her too, intrigued.
âHonestly, a little,â y/n replies.
âREALLY?â Arthur exclaims. His eyes widely looking down at her, his lips curled up a little. âGoodness, you really are a lightweight!â
Y/n laughs, âYeah, itâs bad isnât it. I feel bad for Becky really!â
ââLeast weâre guaranteed second place ey bro?â Chip says, tightening his grip round Arthurâs shoulder.
âYouâre not wrong there!â Arthur chuckles
âYou boys are mean!â Y/n retorts playfully.
The group reaches the second pub. Outside there are only tables of four. Y/n and Becky sit opposite each other first. Arthur and Chip join them. This time, Arthur bravely sits beside y/n, their arms touching. Y/n looks at their arms, observing the closeness. She begins feeling wary of the cameras and doesnât want to come across as having a schoolgirl crush (which wouldnât be wrong). As the others take their seats and chat, Arthur notices y/nâs slight change in demeanour and bumps her gently with his arm. âYou okay?â he whispers as he leans his face towards hers, hoping his quiet words reach her ear and no one elseâs.
She thinks fast, âIâm all good thanks, just dreading what weâll be put through next,â she awkwardly giggles, turning her head to look at him only to almost brush noses. She didnât initially realise how close his face was when he whispered just before. They both go wide eyed and lean away from each other, Arthur clearing his throat and sheepishly apologising, looking to his lap with a small smile. âYouâre all goodâ y/n quietly giggles in response, looking down too, to avoid any risk of someone seeing her definitely reddening cheeks.
âSo, in this round, each team member has to feed the drink to their teammate.â The pairs glare at each other, y/n and Becky giving each other a nod. Cal continues: âOne player must stand with their hands on their hips, as their teammate stands behind them, with their arms through the playerâs arms,â he manhandles Chris for demonstration. Turning Chris around and forcing his hands on his hips, Cal then loops his hands through as if his arms are now Chrisâs and mimes holding a drink up to Chrisâs lips. This earns nods amongst the other players, followed by âohâs. âThey then switch,â Cal explains further, âAnd the team with the lowest collective time it takes to finish their drinks, gains the least amount of points.â
George and Chris go first. âHere we go, turn around darlingâ George smirks to Chris as he spins him by his hips. Chris giggles high pitched, flapping his arms in a fake shy manner, causing the others to laugh. They do a terrible job, Chris keeps pulling his head away from the pint glass to tell George off for pouring too fast. âShut up and take it!â George kept replying, giving the female viewers more treats with his choice of wording. It takes them just under a minute for Chris to finish his drink.
They switch, George offering Chris a hand. When Chris looks to him confused, George says: âI thought youâd want help climbing onto the bench so you can reach around me properly.â The group chuckle, including Chris as he rolls his eyes. They do better this way around, but mostly due to Georgeâs drinking skills.
The other teams watch on from their table. Arthur leaning past y/n slightly so he can get a good view. She can feel his breath slightly fanning on the back of her ear, but team Gherkingâs entertaining performance is distracting enough for her to not get too flustered. Chip gives Becky a subtle âOopâ and when she turns back to look at him, he gestures his head towards y/n and Arthur. From their angle, the pair are sat so close. Arthurâs elbow is resting on the table, his hand sat next to y/nâs side. His upper body is twisted toward her, his chest slightly pressed to her right shoulder. Any public onlookers would assume theyâre a couple. Becky looks back to Chip and rolls her eyes with a beaming smile. Their chemistry already was undeniable, although a bit of liquid confidence may be part of the reason.
Arthur and Chip are next, stepping into shot. Chip stands behind Arthur as Cal passes a pint to him. âUh Chip, whatâs that in your pocket?â Arthur jokingly asks.
âYou donât wanna know broâ Chip replies. They do a fantastic job, Chip very gently tilting the pint more and more as Arthur gulps. Already he drinks the pint twice as fast as George and Chrisâs first go. They switch places.
âWhatâs that massive thing poking my ass?â Chip shouts, turning to y/n and giving her a subtle wink with a smirk, being careful to not get caught by any of the cameras.
âOh my word!â Arthur calls out in shock, followed by a chuckle as he shakes his head. Y/n laughs as she leans her head down into her arms resting on the table. Sheâs terrified of the cameras picking up any possible redness in her face. The pair do a great job again, their tactic was slow and steady after watching George rush Chris. They did miles better.
Itâs the girlsâ turn, Becky taking position behind y/n first. âGive us a hum or something if Iâm pouring too fast hun,â Becky instructs in her ear. Y/n nods with a determined grin. Arthur looks on at y/nâs physique, as he hadnât been able to look before. She carries herself confidently yet sheâs humble, something he finds so attractive. The pair do an amazing job and then switch places. âY/n your ass is very soft and squishy!â Becky exclaims, patting her on the back for finishing the pint quite fast.
âThis old thing?â Y/n jokingly replies, looking back to Becky and sticks her butt out slightly towards her. The drinks may be going to her head already. They both laugh as y/n giggles out an apology as Becky shakes her head. âOh myâŚâ Arthur quietly says to himself as he turns to Chip, being sure not to allow himself to stare, instead he locks eyes with his smirking teammate.
Y/n stands behind Becky and takes the pint from Cal. Y/n leans forward, her head just above Beckyâs shoulder so she can watch Beckyâs face and pour based on her expression. âLooks like sheâs pouring based on Beckyâs swallows, good tactic!â Cal calls out. Arthur watches on, taking into account y/nâs care to Becky. Chip leans over the table. âSheâs clever and caring bro, wife her up!â Chip whispers. Arthur exhales a laugh through his nose at Chips words, he slightly shakes his head but doesnât take his eyes off y/n.
The Fe-Mails finish the fastest, against all odds. Chris blames George for pouring too fast and George retorts by saying Chris whined too much. The scores now as follows:
Bone Apetit: 3 points
The Fe-Mails: 3 points
Gherkings: 6 points
The next pub isnât too far away, about a four minute walk. Chris runs up ahead of George, Arthur, and Chip to reach y/n who is walking alongside Becky and Cal. âSo y/n, how are you finding pub golf so far?â he asks, with a camerman walking alongside them.
âIâm really enjoying it so far thanks,â she starts, âitâs been really fun and everyoneâs so nice.â
âOh yeah, you havenât met some of the guys before. Cal, Arthur, and Chip right? Alongside the crew?â Chris replies.
âOop, Chris just said your nameâ Chip teases Arthur quietly. Arthur looks up ahead of him to see Chris and y/n talking in front of a camera while walking. âYou two are really getting on arenât you, you and y/n?â he adds, patting Arthur on the back.
âYeah, sheâs really nice,â he smiles as he whispers, âSheâs just like she is in her videos, not that I thought she wouldnât be or anything.â
âYeah, Iâd been watching her stuff for a while and before even meeting her, I thought that you guys should meet,â George chimes in, joining Arthurâs other side. âYouâre both awkward and nerdy and funny, two peas in a pod really.â
âReally?â Arthur enquires, quite loud, and the boys shush him as y/n and Chris are only a couple of metres ahead and couldâve heard.
They arrive at the third pub already, but there were no seats outside available, so they all squeeze into a round booth inside, with Cal in the middle. From left to right is Becky, Chris, Chip, Cal, George, Arthur, and y/n.
A tray full of shots gets placed on the round table. Cal explains to the camera that this round is an alphabet game where starting with Arthur, theyâll take turns clockwise naming something within a category, from A-Z. Whoever hesitates or says a word starting with the wrong letter, they need to drink a shot. A shot in this game earns a point for the team. The first round is dog breeds, matching Chip and Arthurâs costumes. It goes as follows:
Arthur: âAlsatianâ
Y/n: âBulldogâ
Becky: âChihuahuaâ
Chris: âUhh⌠Dalmatian!â
Chip: âErrrâŚâ
âHesitation!â Chris and Cal both shout. Chip puts his head in his hands and groans. He picks up a shot and shouts âI canât think of any dogs startiâ with E!â
âEnglish bull terrier!â Arthur calls, gesturing fake-angrily, âItâs OUR theme!â
âAw man!â Chip replies as he downs his shot. Arthur chuckles, turning to look at y/n whoâs also enjoying the antics. Arthur doesnât notice at first, but his leg is pressed against y/nâs, mostly due to George manspreading.
George turns to Arthur, âThatâs handy, I couldnât think of a dog beginning with F either,â he chuckled, shrugging.
âA Frenchie?â Y/n replied, leaning forward past Arthur.
âYeah, a French bulldog, y/n literally said âbulldogâ and basically gave that to you!â Arthur laughs, as he nudges y/n.
Round two is fruit and vegetables, based on team Gherkings. Starting with Chip, the game begins:
Chip: âAvocado! Yes!â
George: âBâŚBananaâ
Arthur: âCantaloupeâ
Y/n: âDragon fr-â
âBrother thatâs an animal!â Chip interrupts, pointing at Arthur.
âCantaloupe?â George asks with both surprise and a smirk as the group laughs.
âYouâre thinking of an antelope!â Arthur calls back.
âYouâre on the same team!â Chris chortles.
âY/n, hesitation!â Cal exclaims.
Y/nâs jaw drops, Arthur looks to her in surprise.
âThatâs not fair!â Y/n retorts.
âYeah, she started talking but Chip interruptedâ Becky adds.
âTo be fair, she said âdragon fruitâ, I heard her.â Arthur claims, matter of factly as he leans back and puts a hand on y/nâs shoulder, giving it a pat.
âI didnât hear her, did anyone else hear her besides Arthur?â Cal asks the group.
âI didnât.â George answers, smugly, shooting a grin towards y/n.
âI did!â Becky adds.
âWell thatâs bollocks,â Chris states as he crosses his arms, âif George didnât hear it, youâre not gonna hear it from all the way over there!â
âGeorge is lying!â âBecause George is lyingâ y/n and Arthur exclaim at the same time.
George sarcastically presses a hand to his heart, feigning a hurt expression.
âThat settles it, y/n hesitated.â Cal finalises, smacking the table like a judge with a gavel. George picks up a shot and hands it to y/n âDrink up,â he grins. She takes the shot from him as she narrows her eyes at him.
âFine, but this means war.â she jokingly murmurs before taking the shot, disgusted by the aftertaste.
âWell done,â Arthur says, leaning back to touch her shoulder again, giving it a squeeze as he grins at her.
The third round is items youâd find in a post office. âChip, as you interrupted y/n last round, you can start.â Cal states.
Chips stutters, âAâŚanalytics, like sheets of analytics and data and stuff!â
âAbsolutely not.â Chris says.
âBoxes!â George shouts, not taking any chances.
âIâm sorry, no.â Chris continues.
âChris, if you continue interrupting and time wasting, youâll need to take a shot.â Cal states. The game continues:
Arthur: âCalendarâ
Y/n: âDesk!â
Becky: âEeeeenvelopesâ
Chris: âUmmm⌠FâŚâ
âHesitation!â Cal shouts, slamming the table again as the others join in shouting.
âUh, fine!â Chris groans as he downs a shot, sticking his tongue out and shaking his head. âBloody awful.â
âSo, each team has one point each?â George questions, âWell that game was fucking pointless then!â
Cal nods, pretending to be deeply disappointed in everyone. âI was worried this would happen,â he starts, âSo we have one more round!â
The cameras whip around everyone as âoohâs echo throughout. The final round was for countries. âChris, you start.â
Chris: âArgentinaâ
Chip: âBelgiumâ
George: âChinaâ
Arthur: âDenmarkâ
Y/n: âEnglandâ
Becky: â⌠Franceâ
Chris: âGermanyâ
Chip: âHhhhhungary!â
George (laughing): âIcelandâ
Arthur: âJapanâ
Y/n: âUm⌠Kazakhstanâ
Becky: âLâŚondon!â
âNo!â Y/n cries out, belly laughing as she puts her head in her hands. Arthur laughs along with her and pats her on the back.
âIâm sorry, I panicked!â Becky calls out, immediately grabbing a shot and drinking as Cal shouts: âIncorrect!â
ââLondonââ Chris quietly says to himself as he chuckles.
âDonât worry Becks, I thought London too,â Chip leans forward, calling to Becky who had her head on the table.
The scores at the end of this game are:
Bone Appetite: 4
The Fe-Mails: 5
Gherkings: 7
As the group stand up from the booth, the drinks are starting to get to the groupâs heads. âFuckinâ âell!â Becky shouts, wobbling as she carefully steps out of the booth, Chris getting up behind her with his arms outreached ready to catch her if she falls. Y/n gets up and stumbles slightly, catching herself on the table. Arthur smiles and reaches out to her at the same time. âWoah, careful there!â he chuckles.
Heading to the next pub, Chip loses his footing off the curb, his ankle buckling as he drops to the floor. Heâs totally fine and just lays there laughing as Becky and Chris immediately head over to help him up, also cackling. âOop! Was that a fall there Chip?â Cal questions, pointing at the obviously collapsed man on the floor.
âNoâŚâ Chip replies as heâs pulled to his feet.
âDo you want a point for the team or a shot at the next pub?â Cal asks.
âPoint. No, shot!â Chip shouts.
âIâm sorry but Iâm gonna have to go for your first answer,â Cal states, âOne extra point to Bone Appetite!â Arthur shakes his head with a small snigger as he walks beside Cal, a camera pointing at them both.
George is walking alongside y/n, at the front of the group. âHaving a good time?â He asks. A little tipsy, she giggles.
âI really am, thanks for getting me on here.â She beams. George grins back.
âIâm glad. And I must say, youâve made an astonishing first impression.â He states.
âReally?â
âYep, Iâve seen the crew laugh at some of your jokes. Chip thinks youâre proper nice, and donât get me started on Arthur.â George elaborates.
Y/n looks to George shyly, âWhat dâyou mean?â
âWhatâs that?â Arthur asks as he darts ahead to join George and y/n, walking on the other side of her.
âNothing bad Television, I was just telling y/n what a good impression sheâs made already today with her pub golf debut.â George calmly explains. Arthur nods, looking to y/n with a sweet smile.
âYou really have!â He adds, his beam so wide his eyes close. âYouâll definitely be asked to join again. If not by Chris, which would make him an idiot, but by the viewers.â
Y/n gets bashful. âAw, thanks!â She replies.
âAnd I certainly want you to join again,â Arthur continues, looking y/n in the eyes with a genuine smile.
âYeah, because youâre terrible and give us a good boost.â George adds, sporting a childish smirk before then drifting back to join the others behind them.
âHeâs such an idiot sometimes, ignore him.â Arthur whispers, âHis teamâs losing anyway.â
Reaching the fourth pub, more shots were purchased for the players. They stand around a circular table outside as Cal announces the rules: Each player must down their shot, with their hands behind their back and only using their mouth to lift the glass. Any spills, leftover drink, or using hands earns the playerâs team a point.
Chris goes first and accidentally leaves a little drink at the bottom. Chip and Arthur scream for Cal to penalise him while George squeezes his nose bridge in half-joking frustration. Cal gives team Gherkings a point for not finishing the shot. Beckyâs next and completes her shot with ease. âPiece of piss!â She gloats while pointing at the camera. Chipâs next and being giggly and tipsy, he giggles mid-drink and spits the glass out. The drink spills everywhere and the shot glass bounces off the table and shatters on the floor. Arthur clasps his hands to his head, âWhat are you doing?â He exclaims.
âThatâs two points for Bone Appetite, not just for spilling but for breaking a glass!â Cal calls. Arthur playfully shakes Chip by the shoulders with gritted teeth. Chip just giggles. Becky pumps a fist in the air and hi-fives y/n, as they both realise theyâre in first place now.
George takes his shot just fine, followed by Arthur. Y/n watches Arthurâs lips around the glass, feeling a little flustered as he furrows his eyebrows in concentration. Arthur drinks his shot just fine too. Y/nâs last and also has the giggles, nervous sheâll make the same mistake as Chip. âCalm yourself babes, focus!â Becky cheers on. Y/n clasps her hands behind her lower back and leans forward, gripping the shot glass with her lips. George looks to Arthur, raising his eyebrows and pressing his lips together, luckily both are out of view of the cameras. Arthur clears his throat awkwardly and locks eyes with George. âOh grow upâ Arthur quietly murmurs, rolling his eyes with a playful smile. Although he canât deny, heâs starting to break a sweat.
Y/n lifts the glass and tilts her head back fine, but Chip then makes a fake orgasm moan which causes her to laugh. Unlike Chip however, she leans forward and the drink lands back in the shot glass, and she places it back on the table with her mouth. âWhat the hell Chip?â She calls out, chortling as she stood straight again.
âOne point to the Fe-Mails!â Cal declares.
With that round over, the scores are:
The Fe-Mails: 6
Bone Appetite: 7
Gherkings: 8
Heads are starting to spin from the last few shots, and it shows in all the players now. Chris in particular is struggling, groaning as he walks along with the group on the way to the penultimate pub. âChris, if you chunder you get a point for each spew!â Cal calls to him from the back of the group.
âFuck off, weâre losing anyway!â Chris shouts back.
âOnly by one point, you idiot!â George snaps at his suffering teammate. Cal looks to the camera with fake outrage.
âDid he just disrespect the ref?â, the cameraman made the camera nod. He turns back to the group and puts a hand either side of his mouth. âOne point to team Gherkings for disrespecting the ref!â
The girls are also struggling, clinging onto each other as y/nâs steps in particular become gradually more wobbled as they waddle alongside George. Arthur chuckles from behind them. âWow, you really ARE bad at this y/n!â he calls. Sheâs too busy concentrating on not falling over to fight back with a witty comment and just giggles.
Reaching the fifth pub, they realise there are no chairs available inside or out, so the crew go to the bar to grab the drinks while the players head back out the pub entrance and all stand on the street. Cal hands Becky and y/n a pint each. âTry not to spew this one back in the glass this time y/n!â Arthur sniggers, his liquid courage getting to him. Becky gives him a middle finger and Chip chuckles.
âDonât start with me Arthur or Iâll spew on you!â Y/n retorts, not her best comeback but sheâs beyond tipsy at this point.
âHeâd probably like that,â George whispers under his breath, making Chris cackle.
This round is pretty simple, one teammate needs to feed the other as much of a pint as possible within 10 seconds. If any teammate finishes the pint before the 10 seconds, the team gets one point deducted from their score. Becky and y/n go first, Becky doing the pouring for y/n. âJust squeeze my shoulder if you want me to slow down yeah?â Becky explains, âIâve seen the others do it before.â
Y/n nods, putting her arm around Becky and resting on her shoulder. âIâve seen it too, good plan.â She replies. Remarkably, y/n manages almost all the pint, following Beckyâs suggestion. The boys cheer her as itâs the best performance y/n has done so far. They swap places and Becky puts her arm around y/n. Watching on from the side, chip slaps Arthurâs back. âBet youâd love to put your arm around y/n like that wouldnât you?â He whispers. George, standing the other side chimes in, making quiet kissy noises. Arthur presses his hand to his brow bone and giggles to himself. âYou guys are too much, seriously.â
âHonestly mate, she seems into you, sheâd probably let you.â Chris adds, standing in front of the boys but hearing everything. He turns to look at Arthur, so he can see Chris is being genuine.
âI donât know her that well, but for the time Iâve known her, she hasnât radiated this much with anyone as sheâs done with you.â George adds, also using a legitimate tone. Patting Arthur on the back.
Y/n tips the glass for Becky, the whole time watching her face and paying close attention to the hand on her shoulder. âYes Beckyâ she quietly chants throughout the 10 seconds, but sadly Becky also doesnât finish the whole pint in time. Next up are Bone Appetite, Chip deeply suffering as he barely downs half the pint before stopping and trying not to vomit. The boys shouting their fair shares of âuh ohâs, trying to make Chip feel worse. Chip doubles over and braces himself. Arthur stands beside him, âSeriously, you alright mate?â He asks calmly.
Chris stands beside y/n, a crew member filming them both. âI thought youâd be the first to go y/n,â he chuckles. Looking back over as the onesie wearers are both leaning against the wall. Y/n giggles, watching Arthur be a supportive friend and melting a little internally.
âSame here honestlyâ she replies, eliciting a laugh from Chris. Arthur and Chip step back into shot. Arthur pats his back lightly as Chip nods, confirming heâs okay to continue.
Chip begins pouring the drink into Arthurâs mouth. Y/n watching on as Arthur confidently gestures up with his spare arm so Chip can pour faster. Arthur remarkably finishes the pint, reducing their teamâs point by one. The other players applaud, y/n is impressed, her eyes wide and mouth slightly open. âYouâre droolingâ George whispers as he leans into her and winks, he and Chris making their way in front of the camera for their turn. Arthur and Chip cross them, Chip heading inside because he needs a âmassive slashâ and Arthur joining y/n.
Y/n is stood leaning against the wall as Arthur stands beside her, his arm reached out and hand behind her, pressed against the wall. Shuffling her feet as she watches the Gherkings have their turn, she steps back slightly and the back of her neck meets Arthurâs arm. âOh, sorry,â she awkwardly whispers to him, letting out a small giggle. Arthur tuts with a faint smile.
âDonât be silly!â He whispers as he moves his lips closer to her ear, reaching his hand round to squeeze her shoulder a little, before returning it back to the wall. He catches her smiling to herself as he returns his gaze back to George and Chris, and he canât stop himself from beaming either.
George pouring into Chrisâs mouth didnât go well, only managing half the pint. When they swap however, George also manages to finish his pint. They lose a point for their team, the Fe-Mails being the only team whose score stays the same. The scores at the end of this round are:
The Fe-Mails: 6
Bone Apetit: 6
Gherkings: 7
The gang head off to the last pub, wobblier than ever. Chris and Arthur are busy keeping Chip afloat, neither of them holding themselves too well either. George has his arms around Becky and y/n, he himself being the most sober of the players. âLook at George, Arthur, and Chris. Chivalrous as ever.â Cal says to the camera with a grin. They all pile into the pub, situating at a six-seater table. Cal pulls up a stool at the end again. Chris, Arthur, and Chip head down one side of the table and Becky, y/n, and George move down the other. Y/n sits opposite Arthur, but luckily sheâs already flushed from the drinks.
âOkay guys, itâs the final game of the night!â Cal begins as the cameras focus on the table. He explains the rules: each team has a cocktail pitcher that they have to pour into their glasses and drink until the pitcher is empty. Fastest drinking team wins.
Bone Appetite go first, Arthur drinking more than Chip, but they manage to finish the pitcher in under a minute. Next is Becky and y/n. Y/n sniffs the pitcher and shudders. âI donât think Iâll keep this stuff down Beckyâ she chuckles, embarrassed.
âAw, youâll be alright, I can take more drink if you want!â Becky replies, to which y/n nods. The boys look on with excitement, The Fe-Mails essentially one man down, all except Arthur. Despite wearing a smile to fit the others, deep down he canât help but worry for y/n, not wanting her to spew on camera in her first ChrisMD video appearance. However, Becky sticks to her promise and takes the heavier load and they complete their turn, although slightly slower than Bone Appetite. Y/n pauses for a moment, a clenched fist held to her mouth. The gang stop to watch her, making sure she doesnât spew but after a few seconds, she composes herself. âPhew, Iâm fine!â She smiles. Becky and the boys relax.
Although it doesnât seem like Chris is holding up too well either, as George drags their pitcher to rest in between them. âChin up dearest,â George starts, âwe got a game to win.â
Chris lets out a low burp into his hand, groaning out an âOh godâ thatâs barely audible. Arthur excitedly looks to Chip, then to Becky and y/n, his eyes wide and lips pursed in an âoohâ shape.
They start, but George quickly takes the lead as Chris struggles. As soon as he finishes his glass, Chris makes a dash from the table, leaving George and the rest to watch on in shock. âI wonât give him a point for vomiting just yet.â Cal chuckles. George turns his attention back to the pitcher, well aware that that theyâre still against the clock, and pours himself a glass to continue. Remarkably, he finishes the entire pitcherâs worth and catches up to the girlsâ time but wasnât able to beat Chip and Arthur.
With the final game over, George excuses himself to check on his teammate, and the others talk amongst themselves. As Arthur talks with Chip, he gestures his hand a little too fast, knocking a glass of half melted ice over, the cold water spilling across the table, and dripping onto y/nâs lap. âOh no!â He cries, eyes wide open as he clasps his hands to his mouth in horror. Y/n yelps at the sudden coldness but soon laughs it off.
âSpillage!â Becky shouts, pointing from the table to y/n while staring directly at Cal.
âOh my god, Iâm so sorry. Shit.â Arthur mumbles, âLet me get you some napkins!â He gets up and rushes away.
âSurely that doesnât count as a spillage, the drink was all drink up- drunk up,â Chip tries reasoning with Cal.
âNope, still a spill. A drink was spilled Chip!â Cal quips back in an authoritative but jokey tone. âOne point to Bone Appetite!â
Arthur reappears at the table, retaking his seat and passing y/n a scrunched up bundle of napkins as she stands up ready to wipe herself.
âThank you, good boy!â She giggles as she half-drunkenly leans over pats Arthur on the head, then proceeding to dab her trousers. Arthur looks super surprised at first, as Chip and Becky chortle, before breaking out into laughter himself.
âBrother Iâm sorry, you got us a point but your face just then was so worth it!â Chip chuckles. Y/n sits back down, using the remainder of the napkins to dry the table. Arthur feeling all too aware that he may be blushing after being called a âgood boyâ by the hottest girl heâs ever met, turns his head away from the table, nonchalantly saying âWhere are the pickle boys?â to avoid the cameras picking up on any redness in his face. Luckily for him, they both appear from round the corner and return to the table. Sitting down and tucking their chairs in, Chris looks to Cal and bluntly says âYeah, I threw upâ with sheepish look, then he looks to the camera and sighs. George pretends to smell Chrisâs bad breath and wafts his hand, then chuckles.
âOne point to team Gherkings!â Cal starts, âAnd with that, the final scores areâŚâ the players begin to smack their hands on the table for a drum roll. âIn third place with 11 points is team Gherkings!â the other two teams clap as Chris put his hand to his chest and makes a faint bow. George puts his head down, smirking and gesturing at a very pale Chris, murmuring an âObviously.â
âAnd now for first place⌠itâs a tie between Bone Appetite and The Fe-Mails!â Cal finishes. The table exchange a few âoohsâ. âI thought this may happen,â Cal continues, âTherefore we have a tie breaker to determine first and second place!â
All of a sudden, two crew members approach the table with four baby Guinnesses, placing one in front of each of the tied team members.
âOh god, I canât drink anymore.â Chip whines, eliciting a low laugh from the table.
âIâm not sure if I can either.â Becky adds.
âEach team member will drink their baby Guinness, the faster of both teams will then compete in an arm wrestle.â Cal explains.
âOkay.â Y/n says to herself, determined, her hand ready on her small glass. She had assumed her team wouldâve come last because of her, so beating George gave her some encouragement.
âThree-two-one-go!â Cal suddenly shouts very fast, hoping to throw them all off.
Chip doesnât even move, he remains staring at his baby Guinness in defeat with his hands on his lap.
âOh, fuck!â Becky calls out, quickly reaching for her drink and downing it. However y/n and Arthur had already finished theirs within just over a second.
Cal claps his hands together and declares: âArthur and y/n win the race! Get ready to arm wrestle.â They lock eyes and reposition themselves ready. Both feeling a little heated from the eye contact, but they know itâll make for good shots for the video.
âGet him, y/n!â Becky cheers.
âDonât go easy on her Arthur!â Chip chants, patting Arthur on the back. The pair rest their elbows on the table and clasp hands, immediately feeling electricity from the contact, and hoping the spark isnât visible on camera.
âYouâre toe-ing⌠youâre going to do a Fe-FAIL!â Arthur stammers, the baby Guinness going straight to his head. The players laugh, including himself. Y/n cackles with her head down. Arthur squeezes her hand slightly to bring her attention back to the game. She lifts her head back up, locking eyes with him again and attempting a deadpan face. âSomeone mute this TV, it-â but she bursts out laughing before finishing her sentence. Arthur lets out a âpfftâ laugh, leaning his head back and squinting his eyes together.
âThis is painful,â Chris chuckles, rubbing circles into his eyes with his hands.
âIndeed it is,â Cal adds, âReady? Start on âgoâ.â The pairâs eyes meet again, y/n slightly turns her wrist to make the wrestle harder for Arthur and gives him a small squeeze. Arthur bites his lip and furrows his brows in response, staring at their connected hands. Y/n is seemingly unaware of just how strong Arthur with his sleeper build, although sheâd never tell Arthur (or anyone for that matter) that sheâs seen a lot of edits where he is shirtless.
âThree, two, one, go!â Cal calls. Immediately y/n seems to have the upper hand for a few seconds, Arthurâs hand mere inches from the table. Chris and Chip cheer Arthur on, telling him to pick up the slack. Meanwhile, George and Becky chant y/nâs name and smack the table in rhythm. Arthurâs face is contorted as he struggles, watching y/n as she stares at their hands. As soon as she glances back at Arthur, he suddenly smirks and slams her hand down on the table. âOh my god!â Chip calls out, perking up and slamming his fists on the table with excitement.
âOutstanding. Arthur wins the arm wrestle, which means Bone Appetite wins this videoâs pub golf with 7 points!â Cal declares gesturing to his right at the champions. Y/nâs still staring at Arthur with a wide mouth and still with her hand pinned down under Arthurâs. One cameraman zooms in to capture Chip and Arthurâs celebratory reaction, as Chip shakes Arthurâs shoulders and cheers until his voice breaks. Only then does Arthur realise heâs still holding y/nâs hand, giving her hand a couple of small squeezes again before letting go and giving Chip a hug.
Y/n smiles and pulls her hand away to applaud the winners with a smile, alongside the other players. Cal then turns to the girls. âAnd well done to The Fe-Mails, second place with 8 points!â He exclaims before clapping. Y/n and Becky both let out some âwoopâs before throwing their prop envelopes in the air like confetti. Arthur and Chip then clap for them.
âAw commiserations ladiesâ Chip taunts the girls, his clapping slowing but increasing in volume as he sticks out his bottom lip.
âAh shut up you, you barely did anything!â Becky retorts.
âYeah,â y/n joins in, pushing his baby Guinness closer to him. He fake gags and presses his head into Arthurâs neck.
âTheyâre bullying me Arthur!â He cries against him.
âNot gonna lie, you kind of deserved it,â Arthur replies giggling, watching y/n laugh.
The crew head outside to do their final clips, one by one they partake in the same interview they did before the pub golf games started. The question being a slight variation: âHow did you fare today?â
Chrisâs answer validates his answer at the beginning. Squeezing the bridge of his nose, he chuckles and bluntly answers: âWe did shit.â
Georgeâs answer is a stark contrast against his initial confident response. âI wouldâve won if it wasnât for that hobbitâ he jokingly states with his arms crossed, his head gesturing towards his paling teammate.
Chipâs nonchalant âweâll do alright I thinkâ from before was also very different to his new response: âWe fucking smashed it, I knew we would!â
Arthur sticks to his dog theme with his answer. âWe had fun and were the winners, in dog years this means we had seven times the fun⌠and seven times the winsâ he exclaims with a big smile.
âI think we did fantastic, we wouldâve won if it were me doing the arm wrestle, but we still smashed it!â Becky answers, confident as ever, pumping a fist towards the camera.
Lastly is y/nâs final answer. âI bloody loved it,â she chuckles, âI had the best time with the best people, I⌠had the best time!â
Chris struggles to get through the outro for the video while the others stand either side of him, smiling. The film crew stop recording and put their kits away, all heading back into the pub to have their own drinks, and the players follow them. Chris and Cal sit at a long table with their crew, whereas George, Chip, Becky, Arthur, and y/n head towards booth beside them. Arthur gestures for y/n to slide into the bench first, and he follows suit. Opposite them slides in Chip and George. âGuys my uber is here!â Becky announces. She says her goodbyes to everyone, calling y/n her partner in crime as y/n leans across the table to give her a hi-five. Arthur looks down to his lap shyly as y/nâs face was dangerously close to his during Beckyâs farewell. âHave fun y/nâ she says in a suggestive tone, before winking at her and leaving the pub. Y/n giggles to herself and readjusts her position.
âWhat was that about, whyâd she say that like that?â Arthur asks y/n, his head tilted and leans closer towards y/n, narrowing his eyes with intrigue.
âOh, thatâs⌠nothing, sheâs just being silly!â Y/n awkwardly replies, unclipping her mic from her collar to put in her pocket.
âHmm⌠yeahâŚâ Arthur murmurs, still looking at her suspiciously, but realising heâs still wearing his mic and removes his too. âIâll give these back to Chris, do you want a drink? Anyone?â Arthur asks, directing the notion to the whole booth.
âIâll just have a water please,â y/n answers.
âMe too,â George adds.
âIf I drink anything else, Iâll fucking die.â Chip murmurs.
âOkay, three waters, Iâll be right back.â Arthur takes the mic packs and heads to Chrisâs table. George leans towards y/n with his elbows on the table and his chin resting in his hands.
âEnjoyed the arm wrestle didnât we?â He teases. Chip copies Georgeâs pose, also awaiting y/nâs reply.
âActually my wrist hurts now,â y/n awkwardly replies, rubbing her wrist.
âThatâs not what I meant, donât think I didnât see you two still holding hands way after the arm wrestle was over!â George replies.
âReally?â Chip remarks, âGuess I was too busy celebrating to notice!â
Y/n eyes widen. âYou donât think the cameras picked up on it do you?â She asks awkwardly, âIâm still dealing with the y/n x Becky accusations!â
Arthur makes his way back to the table, juggling three glasses of water. He offers Chip some of his water, to which Chip declines. They chat away about the day for the next few minutes, Arthurâs arm brushing past y/nâs every so often while talking, and occasionally his leg touches hers too. George being a âbroâ to both Arthur and y/n, excuses himself to go to the toilets, subtly gesturing for Chip to leave too. Chip says he wants some fresh air and heads outside, leaving Arthur and y/n alone. The booth suddenly feels more intimate.
Arthur shifts on the bench so heâs facing y/n more, his right arm resting on the back of the bench, his hand by y/nâs head. She turns to face him too, her elbow resting on the table and her head on her hand. âDid you enjoy today?â He asks quietly, struggling to maintain eye contact now theyâre alone and off camera. She nods, sitting up straighter but looking at her lap awkwardly.
âIt was probably the best video Iâve ever been a part of, including my ownâ she replies with a giggle.
âReally? That fun, huh?â Arthur responds, now looking at her. She nods again.
âWas there anything in particular, or the whole day as a whole?â He queries.
âThe whole day,â y/n beams. Arthur then nods, y/n looks around the pub before feeling brave. âActually, you definitely made things more funâ She adds. Arthurâs eyes widen as he takes a sip of his water, trying to come up with something to say. Y/n follows suit, although itâs because her mouth has become extremely dry.
âWhat do you mean?â He questions, studying her face with a flattered grin.
âYou just made me feel super comfortable, not that anyone made me UNcomfortable, but yeah. It really helped calm my nerves.â Y/n explains.
âAw well, Iâm so glad to hear that,â Arthur replies, moving his hand from the back of the bench to y/nâs shoulder and giving it a gentle jostle. âI think this was my favourite pub golf, by far,â He continues, âand that was down to you, most definitely.â
There was a cozy silence between the two. Y/n nods gleefully as she takes another sip of her water. As she sets the glass back down, she looks to Arthur to see him studying her face. His smile still visible, although more so in his eyes rather than his lips, as his gaze flutters over her features, pausing at her mouth before darting back up to her eyes. They can feel each other slowly leading in.
âArthur, y/n,â Chris startles them with a hand tapping on the table, âuh sorry, weâre all heading off now. You coming?â Y/n checks her phone, surprised to see itâs getting late. She didnât originally know how long these pub golf videos take, and it certainly didnât feel like it took a whole entire day. Arthur turns back to look at y/n with an inquisitive smile. âWeâre gonna head back to theirs to watch a horror movie or something, if you want to join?â He asks.
âYeah, you can crash if youâre not busy tomorrow too, Arthurâs staying over.â Chris chimes in. Y/n of course, accepts the invitation.
Chip makes his own way home, promising to text once heâs back safe. George, Chris, Arthur, and y/n head into a taxi to travel back to the boysâ flat. Chris sits in front with the driver, chatting away with him. Whereas y/n is sandwiched in the back between Arthur and George. âCome on y/n, put us out of our misery,â George starts, his odd sentence gains him confused glances from y/n and Arthur, âwho do you think youâll be shipped most with by the viewers after this video goes live?â He continues with a cheeky grin.
âProbably Becky again.â Y/n chuckles, replying fast without much thought.
âYou and Becky, ey?â George enquires, pretending to think as he looks to the ceiling of the taxi and rubs his chin before adding: âNow thereâs an image.â
âDonât be such a perve!â Arthur scolds half-heartedly. They all share a snigger.
âI recon you two.â Chris chimes in, turning in his chair and gesturing to y/n and Arthur with a genuine smile, though his voice raspy.
âOh really?â Arthur questioned, his cheeks beginning to burn again as y/n turns to look at him. The closeness of their faces in the cramped taxi adding to the heat as they lock eyes and share giggle.

[PART TWO]
A/n: my first fic! I hope you enjoyed, sorry it was long. I basically wrote out an entire YouTube view lol but I loved writing it nonetheless. I love a good fluffy slow burner, but I also love smut too so watch this space, hehe
Part two at the boysâ flat?
Also, shall I write a follow-up where y/n and Arthur end up in a pub golf pair after popular demand from the viewers?

authors note â im actually disgusted with myself for how long this took to come out but tumblr was a bitch and deleted my draft and ive had a few menty b's since chapter two so if its shit just dont worry about that pls and thank you xxx
It was a coordinated attack. There was no other way Alfie could describe it.
One minute, he was streaming a new GTA Online roleplay, the next, Chip was in his chat, inviting him onto The Fellas podcast to talk about 'his new bird'. Alfie scoffed and floundered his way through an explanation to the viewers who read the words like sleeper agents with their activation codes, blowing up the chat with questions within seconds.
That night, the second phase of the attack began, in the form of a facetime from Sabina. He answered to find her and Chip on their sofa, Alfonso napping between the two, looking like Bond villains as they sipped on glasses of white wine.
"Yo, family!" Chip shattered the facade in record time, beaming at the phone screen before them. "Tell Sabina! Tell her! Tell her now!"
"Fuckin' hell mate.." Alfie huffed, turning the volume down on his phone a little bit as his face scrunched up. "Tell 'er what?"
"Tell herrrrr!"
"Tell her what?!"
"Your bird!"
Sabina's jaw was on the floor now, and her brows seemed determined to meet her hairline as she cooed, voice highâsurprised, to say the least, "Oh, Alfie, that's great! I knew you'd find someone!"
"Eh? He's chatting out his arse," he scoffed immediately. "I don't have a bird."
"Mhm!" Chip hummed pointedly, a brow curving upwards as he stared down the camera. "Lies!"
"No, I don't-" The words were hardly out before Chip was near-singing, "Alfie's got a cruuuush,"
"Fuck off," he scoffed, cheeks turning pink as he shifted in his bed, sitting up further against the headboard. "No- no, I don't."
"Ooh, ooh!" Sabina happily ignored his protests, leaning forward as she clutched Chip's arm. "Who?"
"Reader!" Chip turned to his fiancee with a grin, pointing at the glitching video of Alfie on the FaceTime. "He's always liking her Instagram."
"Oh my God!" Sabina squealed. "Yesyesyesss!"
"Nooo.." Alfie shook his head, quickly grumbling, "Don't even know her like that.."
"So?" Chip laughed, head dropping back onto Sabina's arm. "Is that really gonna stop the goon-king?"
"Ew bro, the fuck?" Alfie started, backed now by Sabina's glare that she turned on her fiance, "Ew, Josh! Don't say that!"
"Alright, alright... But neph clearly fancies her."
"No, I don't. I hardly even know her."
"But you want toooo..."
"Fuck off."
"Alfie?" Sabina hummed, drawing a sigh from him as he nodded.
"Yes, Sabina..?"
"She's really nice."
"Cool."
"If you're going to do anything, don't be a dick to her."
"What? I'm not- I wasn't gonna- I'm not even like that. Whatever Chip's told you, it's bullshit."
"Well, I would hope so."
"Fuckin' hell..." he drawled in a mumble, shaking his head, "don't even like her anyway.."
"Cap!" Chip declared with a shit-eating grin. He leaned in to Sabina, whispered something just quiet enough that the phone wouldn't pick it up.
Alfie scoffed, said, "Whatever he's saying, it's a load of bollocks."
Chip just kept whispering, eliciting a giggle from Sabina before she shot a glance at the camera, musing, "Well, she's coming to London, so..."
"And?" he squinted.
"And so are you, you div!" Chip beamed. "It's perfect! I can wingman you!"
"Haâfuck off."
Sabina laughed softly, patting Chip's hand as she mused, "Yeah, probably best not, babe. Just take your time, Alfie, there's no rush."
By the end of the call, he'd moved into his bedroom in the grotto, flopping back onto his bed, thumbs swiping over his phone screen until he found his way onto your TikTok, ready for yet another shift of swiping through the same videos over and over, smiling like an idiot.
It was a dreary day in London when you arrived, the air thick, pressing down on your shoulders like an iron bar as you walked through the streets, following Google Maps to your hotel.
You'd never much liked it here, found the people to be more coarse and curt than they were up North. When you were a kid and took a trip down with your mum, it took all of five minutes for you to want to go back home. Too many buildings, too many people, not enough trees.
It wasn't so bad now, though you still felt a certain lingering distate to the city, for reasons you yourself couldn't quite identify. It just felt off.
Opening Spotify, you started a more upbeat playlist in the hopes of fixing your mood. Two days ago, whilst you'd been celebrating 75k on YouTube, you had been beyond elated to find a DM from ArthurTV, asking you to come on the podcast he shared with Italian Bach. You quite literally jumped for joy. Then, you called your mum to spread the good news, then your dad, albeit somewhat more reluctantly. Now, though still excited, you were swamped with fear.
What would they ask you about? What would you have to even talk about?
By the time you made it to the Premier Inn and up to your room, you were exhausted. And you'd not even done anything yet. Slumping onto the bed that was yours for the next three nights, you let out a sigh and buried your face in your pillow with a mumbled, "Shit..."
The best distraction, you discovered, was vlogging. You sat in your room, having taken a nice long soak in the bath and ordered a chicken ceaser salad, your camera propped up against a box as you rambled mindlessly, most of it would be cut, but at least you were doing somethingâyou told yourself.
Then the ping came.
You swiped your phone up instantly, grinning at the sight of a notification that Liv had texted you, asking if you fancied a girls night. And how could you possibly say no to that?
It was just what you needed, you discovered, as you, her and Flo all ended up at Sabina's apartment, sipping buzzballs and homemade cocktails, singing ABBA songs on the little karaoke machine. And it made for a perfect Instagram dump, too.
'first night in london!! tysm for a lovely time girlsđĽš' you captioned it once you were back in bed at 1:48 AM, curled up under the covers.

The next morning, you awoke feeling surprisingly refreshed, eternally grateful that you'd actually taken the time to change and shed your makeup the night before. A quick shower and trip to Gregg's later, you were vlogging as you walked through B&M, still chewing the last of your steak bake.
"Okay, guys, I'm back again, and today is podcast day. And I'm still scared shitless, but I remembered my mum always saying you can never be an empty-handed guest, so I've got about an hour to find some gifts which, hopefully, Bach and Arthur are gonna like. Fingers crossed."
You wound up buying the former a small wolf teddy, and an on-the-go chess set for the latter.
Arriving at the Fellas office, you were let in by Stanley, who showed you around and introduced you to a few people before leading you down to the sets.
"These are even cooler in person," you hummed, grinning as you peered into the rooms designed for various podcasts.
The podcast, to your delight, went surprisingly well. There were no awkward moments, no uncomfortable questions, and you were all laughing and chattering even after it had wrapped up. The problems only started to arise when you slipped away to go to the toilet and got somewhat lost trying to leave, finding yourself wandering onto The Fellas set where Cal and Chip were sat in their chairs, Alfie on the sofaâmics in place, cameras on.
"Shit.." you whispered, flushing as they all turned to you. "I'm so sorry, I'm-" your fingers twisted in the belt loops of your jeans as you shifted under Alfie's gaze that seemed to drag over your every inch. "I just, uh... um, I'm lost..."
"No worries," Cal cackled, nudging Chip and gesturing to Alfie, who was gazing up at you like a man who'd found treasure.
"Yeah, it's fine," the Mancunian agreed with a grin. "Go on AB, you're dead weight anyway, go show her where to go."
"I don't wanna-" you began, but he was already standing, stretching his arms out slightly as he approached you.
"S'alright, girl, c'mon," he nodded to the doorway behind you and you slipped out of it, though not before mumbling another apology to Chip and Cal.
The two of you walked through a quiet corridor. "Thanks for-"
"Yeah, sure. You went on Bach & Arthur?"
"Mhmm."
"Mm. Go well?"
"Uh.. yeah. Yeah, I think so," you nodded, smiling briefly up at him.
He gave a nod of his own, a little stiff, eyes finding yours for just a moment before they jolted away. He shoved his hands into his pockets, slowing until he stopped entirely. "It's, uh... just the left at the end of the hall, then take the lift down."
"Right," you uttered, letting out a soft breath. "Thanks- thank you.."
"Mhm."
Your plan, naturally, was to spend the rest of the day agonising over the memory of crashing their podcast, safely tucked away from any other potential disastrous interactions in your hotel room.
But it took only two hours for cabin fever to sink and for you to pick up your vlog camera, filming as you set off to the Natural History Museum, recounting your devastation to the device as you walked.
Alfie had been planning on heading back up North early the next morning, but when he got a text about a function, he figured he'd been an idiot to say no. That night, he stressed over the clothes he'd packed, cursing himself for not considering the pieces more sincerely before shoving them into his bag. He knew you'd be there; Chip was still goading over it in the Whatsapp group he'd muted half an hour ago.
When he arrived, wearing a pair of black baggy cargos and the only clean shirt he had leftâa black compression topâhe shuffled his way through the bar to the private section Cal had bought out for the night.
He dropped into a seat near the boys, chugged a few pints for their benefit, and his own, so as to hear the end of their claims that he was incapable of doing so, and tried ever so hard not to gawp at you longingly.
But it was a challenge, especially with the loosening of his inhibitions that followed every drink, supplied only further by the little pouch of snus he'd tucked under his top lip.
Five drinks in, he was fully encapsulated by you, tucked into the booth between Bach and Liv, the two laughing as they claimed you as their daughter. "I'm not even that young!" you laughed softly and he had to stifle a chuckle into the foam of his next pint.
For the rest of the night, he didn't once pull his gaze apart from your face. How could he? Why should he? There was no better sight that might befall his eyesâso he allowed them the grace of settling on you.
When everyone was tipsy enough, the table seemed to have gone through a game of musical chairs, some people abandoning their seats entirely to go dance or fetch another round of drinks, others just bouncing from one conversation to the next.
He found it didn't matter who was sat beside him, they'd be ignored either way, as he favoured the sight of you to any of their ugly mugs. Until it was you that fell into the booth next to him.
You'd slipped away with Sabina to go to the toilet, leaving Alfie to be tormented by Chip. Just as he was starting to consider smashing a glass over his mate's head, or even his own (anything would've been preferable to being teased about his obvious crush for you), the two of you were sauntering out of the loo as if you hadn't just taken twenty minutes to do God knows what in there.
Tipsy enough to not notice the woman's intentions as she pushed you down into the booth beside Alfie, you just laughed softly as you collided with his massive arm. "Sorry.." you both hummed at the same time; something else that made you giggle, before looking down to the drink in front of you, necking it.
"Was that even yours?" he hummed.
"Um.. is it really bad if I say I don't care?"
"Nah, guess not."
"What's that?" he followed the point of your intricate pink nail design to the box of snus in front of him, huffing a breath as he glanced at you again.
"Two-dots, girl. Why, you want one?" he nudged it across the table top, a slight smirk pulling his lips upward as his eyes flickered over the flush of your cheeks, the glint in your eyes, the beer foam clinging to your lips.
"Can I?" you beamed.
Laughing softly, he shook his head, "Course, girl. Know how to do it?"
You shook your head, gazing up at him.
"Alright, I'll show ya," he mused before demonstrating with a fresh pouch for himself.
"And.. you just leave it there?"
"Yup."
"For how long?"
"S'up to you."
"Hmm.."
He popped the cap off and tilted it towards you, watching as you took a pouch and slipped it between your gums and upper lip. "Like that?"
"Yeah, perfect. How's it feel?"
"Er... weird. What's this flavour?"
"Cherry ice,"
You actually gagged at that, "Ew, ew, ew! Alfie! Why would you do that to me?"
"Fuckin' 'ell, girl," he laughed. "Alright, spit it out,"
"Where?!"
"Jesus wept.." with a sigh, he offered out the palm of his hand. For a moment, you looked at it, brows furrowed, lips pursed. Then, your hatred for cherry took over and you spat it into the cup of his palm, looking down at it with a small frown.
"Sorry..."
He shrugged, dropping it onto a spare coaster on the table with a laugh. "You're not a fan of cherry, then?"
"Oh, you psychic now?" you giggled.
Shaking his head at your little sarcastic retort, he laughed, "Yeah, maybe."
"Hmm. Fuckin' rank, that," you huffed, pointing at the offending snus pouch. "I'll stick to my vape."
He wiped his hand on his cargos, laughing again as he held out his palm. "C'mon, I expect reimbursement."
"Fuck off," you snickered, leaning back against the booth. "...Knob."
"Twat," he shot back quickly.
"Oi. Cunt."
"Tosser."
"Dickface."
"Pussy."
"Gimp."
The headache you woke up with the following morning was a brutal thing, worsened only by the fact you'd missed your checkout time, slept through a whole bunch of knocking from the Premier Inn staff, and apparently missed your train. Bloody lovely.
Yet, as you sauntered about London busying yourself until the next train, you couldn't help but flick through your camera roll, a shit-eating grin on your lips at the sight of the drunken selfies you'd forced Alfie to take with you. Of course, you'd done so with everybody, but you didn't care much for those ones.
After filming a quick outro for your vlog, you found yourself somehow almost missing yet another train, only to get on at the very last minute. Sitting in the quiet carriage, you edited the footage of your stay in London, and found that you didn't hate it quite so much anymore.

a/n: hello!!! this is a long one, so grab a drink lads. thank you for your patience, im a first year college student and the last month has been hectic.
for any clarity, this is the gap between the two charity matches! :)
wc: 5.9K
Recently, you havenât been able to sleep. The thrill of the match still shocks you awake, every time there are new photos released or a new video, you are quick to engage. Slowly, videos are released from your other mates, and you eagerly tune in to see what they say.
Itâs exciting. The feedback has mainly been positive, yet you still feel the uneasy flip in your stomach every time you see someone has released a video. It's all you can think about. And when you weren't thinking about football, you watched it on telly. You missed playing, the competition, the simple act of being active. It's given you a new surge of motivation, pushing you into creating.
The only downside of it all is that your phone has been buzzing with notifications today, especially. Usually, your phone mutes any notifications from social media, allowing you to not get sucked in all day. Truly, you do your best to ignore it, to ignore the increasing number you see every time you open Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok. But you're only human, and humans are quite curious.
You try not to think anything of it, occupying your time in the studio to film your own video about the charity match. You had B-roll shots, stills, and close-ups of players when you were benched. It was becoming a combination of all the things you adored, your friends, film, and football.
Once you begin to sit down to film a portion of the video, you review the brief script you had written until you feel your right pocket vibrate. Getting up to turn off the camera, you pull out your phone to see who's calling. And to your surprise, it's Chris. You slide open your phone and put it to your ear as you click the camera off.
"Do you need to tell me something?" Chris asks immediately, making your heart drop. You hadn't been hiding anything, spoke to him frequently, and were sure you didn't need to tell him anything.
"What? I don't think so, do I?" You wonder aloud. Chris groans loudly, making your phone speaker crackle in your ears. He doesnât often text, matter of fact, Chris is a god-awful texterâ and an even worse mate to call in a time of need. You could text him and he would go at least a week without responding, usually replying with âSorry I thought I responded!â
Which makes you wonder, what could be so important that he called you first? Usually, like Simon, it was to help film, otherwise Chris would call to gossip. The boys loved gossiping, or catching up, as they would say.
"I've just seen Will's video," He starts, and you wait for him to continue, but it seems he's doing the same. "Came out a few hours ago.."
You walk in circles in the studio, a hand tapping the side of your thigh out of nerves. You knew Will was uploading his pov of the charity match sometime later in the week, but he didn't tell you exactly when. You'd be lying if you hadn't wondered what would be kept in your shared interactions, what Will said about you, and what Mikey would deliberately choose to keep in. It was a thought that had plagued your mind since Will had taken the GoPro off when you two returned to the hotel.
"Right, and what does that mean?" You huff, choking down the unease in your tone.
"Oh my god, have you seen it? You haven't, have you?" Chris exclaimed, and you could hear the small giggle he tried to stifle. "You two really are clueless, aren't you? It's ridiculous that our other mates are on Hinge actively trying to not be single, and you two do it by choice!" he joked hysterically.
âYouâre a dickhead,â you cut in between his laughter, choosing to ignore the blatant comment about yours and Wills' peculiar relationship.
While Chris continues to make himself laugh, the curiosity is now starting to gnaw at you, causing you to stride over to your desk. Without another beat, your monitor is turned on, and you pull out the chair to get comfortable. You attempt to ignore his laughter as you open up YouTube, typing in Will's second channel name.
"Take a gander for me, will you? When you get the chance, of course," Chris says, and you can hear the wide grin on his face. You freeze, like you had just been caught, the mouse hovering over the thumbnail of the video. You look around the room, just to make sure you're alone.
"I suppose," you say slowly, sitting up straighter than before. Chris then goes on to talk about his latest endeavors, awful dates, video ideas, and the next time you two will see each other. Under other circumstances, you'd be happy to chat. But right now, all you wanna do is watch Wills latest video.
"Hey Chris, I gotta get back to filming this video, mate," you fib, leaning back into your chair, "I want it up by next week, and I'm the only one editing it."
"Oh yeah, yeah, I'm just chatting. Let me know when you watch that video, text me," he responds politely.
"If you even get back to me-" and the phone call ends before you can even say goodbye. You furrow your eyebrows at your phone before setting it down on the desk. You mumble the title to yourself,
SIDEMEN CHARITY MATCH (First Person POV) a bit more willne ⢠271k views ⢠3 hours ago
It canât be that bad, is what youâre trying to convince yourself. You've existed on the internet for a long time now, and there isn't anything you can't handle. Clicking on the video, your heart starts hammering in your chest. You let a few minutes roll by, holding your breath, and then you see the moment when you tapped on Will's shoulder.
"Iâm literally shitting myself right now, Will," you let out, and Will watches it back with a soft smile and a tender chuckle.
âAwh poor y/n/n, she was really nervous the entire time, I felt so awful once we split up,â he says over the video.
There it is. The common burn on your face, the shiver down your spine, and the drumming of your heart against your chest. You hit the space bar, pausing the video, to cover your face in embarrassment.
Is it silly to be so riled up by a singular sentence? Are you crazy for wanting to analyze every little thing in the video? You seem to take note of everything. You notice the upturn on the corner of his lips, the way he plays with the ring on his pinky that you got for him-- a nervous tick he picked up, the shifting of his eyes down to his lap when he gets bashful. It's driving you crazy.
So, instead, you watch in complete silence for the rest of the video. It keeps you from pausing frames, reading comments, and feeling lightheaded. But you notice how the GoPro often faces where you're standing on the field, how Mikey left in the bits and pieces of you two interacting that could've easily been cut out. The small waves, subtle smiles, the hug you two shared after you had missed the goal. Half the time Will wouldn't say anything, he would just grin, reliving the moment, occasionally making small comments.
"She really is something, isn't she? Many good assists for her first match,"
and
"Look at that darlin' smile,"
Yet you didn't pause, you remained still in your seat, keeping your eyes glued to the screen as if blinking would take it away. Even though you could feel the air leave your lungs when you appeared on screen.
But then you reach the point where Will makes his goal.
You nervously bite your fingers as he celebrates, telling the audience the same thing he told you on the field, how he had never been a striker and always stayed in the back. The GoPro shot is now playing as Wills words fade into the background. The next few moments play, and it's where Will was screaming something intangible to you.
You aggressively turn up the volume all the way, turning on closed captions to be sure. Your mouse hovers over the timestamp, âmost replayed,â and that's when you hear it.
"For you! I did it for you!"
It plays once, then you replay it, and then replay it again. You feel crazy. Taking in his every word, every move, was this okay? A moment that felt so raw and personal was now published for thousands to observe.
âFor you! For you!â thatâs what Will continues to shout at you on the pitch. And Will doesnât say much about it, because just before was the clip of you saying he owes you a goal. But when you watch the video you feel like youâre back on the field. Chest heaving up and down, you can barely breathe, and thereâs Will running at you shouting something you couldnât make out. His skin sticking to yours as he embraces you, his hands gripping the side of your body with the proudest smile. A smile, that now says, that was for you.
Just like before, you pause the video, hands gliding through your hair. You don't finish the video. Instead, you step away from the computer and fall back onto the couch that you originally were going to film on.
Okay. It was pretty bad. You understand why your mentions have been blowing up all day and why Chris gave you a call. But it wasnât like you hadnât seen this before. Earlier on, youâd often get paired with any boy you came into contact with. It never got out of hand, and most of the time, you were able to ignore it, and the others would too.
But this time it was a little different. The next few days roll by and you aren't able to dodge it. The tweets, the teasing from friends, the edits, god the edits. When filming with friends you were always ready for a joke about Will to make an appearance.
And once you upload your video on the charity match, the comments are bombarded with curiosity and flood in quickly.

marriottxmorgan Literally!!!
Admittedly, you feel a little crazy for reading the comments to see if others are picking up on whatâs happening. You donât need to rely on the audiences validation on whatâs goingâ but it does make you feel a little more sane.
Despite it all, Will doesn't bring it up to you, nor does he make any insinuation that he knows about it when he comes by your flat one afternoon.
âAre you coming tomorrow night?â Will asks over your shoulder, his breath fanning the tips of your ears. You turn your head away from the show you're watching and lean back to create space. A chill is sent down your spine as the hairs on your arm stand. He leans over the couch, the sun casting shadows to create definition in the muscles on his arms. Your cat, calamari, follows him, weaving between his arms and purring. A fortuitous combination that focused all the things you loved in one home.
âTo what? Watch you prats drink and make a fool of yourselves?â you bantered, turning your body fully to face him. "I have somewhere to be the next morning,"
Arthur mentioned how the lads were hitting the pubs over the weekend, but it seemed he failed to mention that you were meant to accompany them. Will shrugs, arms crossing over one another to lean closer to you.
âChris said you would,â he insisted, and you could see the smile he was trying to hide. You roll your eyes and lean back onto the couch as Will picks up the feline, cradling her in his arms.
âWhy does everyone keep saying Iâll do things before talking to me?â you wondered aloud.
âBecause you always end up doing them darlin,â Will teases, kissing your pet before settling down in the open space next to you with Calamari in his lap. "I think Arthur owes Chris twenty quid if you go,"
The silence stretches, reminding you that you're playing house again with Will. Thereâs leftover takeout on the table, his coat lazily hanging off a chair, and the worn out ball you both had been passing around. The breeze that comes from the open window cools the burn on your face and clears the air of any tension. Your eyes sweep the room, before landing back on Will whose attention is on Calamari.
You awe silently, Will has a habit of adoring every pet he comes into contact with. And often, they end up loving him just as much. Without hesitation, you grab your phone, snapping a picture to save for later.
âI guess I donât have anything else going on,â you say simply, tucking your phone back under your thigh.
âYou donât disappoint,â
Will stays for several more hours after that, watching telly with you, playing with mari, he watches as you write formal emails, and listens to your phone calls with your manager.
Between all this, you posted the photo of Will and Mari. No caption, no music, no tags, just the photo. You hadnât thought much of it, a simple photo that was cute. Yet, Wills face wasnât in it, just the wave of of his hair and the ring on his pinky fingerâ you werenât trying to hide him. Either way, it didnât stop your audience from finding out who it was.
So the hours before you were finally going to get some sleep, were left with you refreshing your phone.
âFucks sake,â you mumble under your breath, before turning off your phone frustratedly for the night and going to bed.
The music is loud, but the chatter is more audible. You hesitate, not wanting to leave the solace of the cool air. Bars made you anxious, so did large crowds of people, and the only anecdote to that right nowâwas to drink.
You push open the door, immediately being met with loud cheers as older couples watch the game on the multiple TVs that are displayed. You take a second look at the location you were sent, and you seemed to be in the right place.
Slipping around groups, and bumping into couples, you eventually end up slamming into a familiar face.
âY/N! Thought you werenât coming for a second there, mate!â Chris steadies you, yelling over Queen playing on the big speakers. Fixing the pieces of hair that got caught in your lipgloss, you give a shy smile.
âI got wrapped up in editing,â
âWeâve got to get you an editor,â Chip chimes in, appearing with the rest of the lot. You roll your eyes in response, eyeing him.
"Yeah, yeah,â you say dismissively, crossing your amrs over one another. âWhereâs Sabina?â
"She was knackered and didn't know if you were coming or not! I'll text her, tell her you are thinking of her," he responds politely, pulling out his phone to text his girlfriend. Gaze sweeping the group, you count six men, minus Will, and thatâs when reality to hits youâ
"This is awful! I'm stuck babysitting you blokes all night, again," you express, the palms of your hands pressing against your eyes.
"Oh we're not all bad," a voice comes from behind you, warmth radiating on your back. And without even turning around, you know it's Will. One of his hands leans against the bar, outstretching infront of you, while the other holds a half empty glass. You crane your neck to look over your shoulder, and Will is looking down at you, head slightly tilted with a small grin.
It's suffocating, his eyes on you, yours on his, and everybody elses on the both of you. It feels more intimate than when Will has fallen asleep in your bed after a quiet evening. This is a public display, both of you slotting together like pieces in a puzzle, your back pressing into his chest accidentally.
"And when you end up singing down the street and getting carried by George later, tell me that," He laughs lightly, breath fanning your face with tequila and mint. He still has the same smile that looked at you, and only you, with adoration.
"Another pint, anyone?â Stephen asks.
âOi! Shots in celebration!â Cal insists instead.
âWe could just do both, really,â you offer, and the rest seem to rally at the suggestion.
"Brilliant idea,"
The lot of you kill more time with conversations about formula 1, filming, football, and more importantly, shots. You could feel the music in your feet, sending shock waves to your racing heart. The pub continued to get more crowded as time went on, allowing you to sneak away to use the bathroom for a moment of silence and peace. The liquor you drank burned your throat and sat heavy in your stomach, while it eased your anxiety and loosened your joints, it was making you impulsive.
Thereâs surprisingly no line, and your out in no time, fixing your smudged mascara in the foggy mirror. You reach for your purse, only to realize you don't have it, and you also don't have your phone. Quickly, or as quickly as you can handle, you move out of the bathroom and into the crowded hall.
You must've left it at the booth, or maybe outside when you needed fresh air, or maybe by the pool table? You strain your neck, going on your tip toes to sweep the room. Once, twice, and then your eyes fall on Will. He's on his phone, and theres a black bag that hangs on his shoulder.
You feel a sense of relief wash over, but also your heart skip a beat.
âWilliam, I think you have something of mine,â You say loudly, drawing his attention away from his phone, down to you.
âWhat? This? I have one of these myself,â he says jokingly, sliding the purse off his arm and onto the counter next to you both. He then digs in his pant pocket, fishing out your phone and sliding it next to your purse. Under the awful lights, his hair is shinning and freshly washed, the hair near his ears is short meaning that it was newly cut.
âYou look better without those hats,â you observe aloud. Your hand reaches and brushes through his hair, ruffling it, âHave you ever considered a mullet? Youâd suit one,â
Will tilts his head, like a puppy, his eyes big and brightâ âNoted,â and only now, you notice how the rest of the lads had scattered, and Will was by himself. You look over your shoulder, then reaching on your tiptoes to search for the boys.
âWere you waiting for me?â You observe, even though you meant to only think that. You couldnât keep your mouth shut.
Will shrugs, trying to hide the small smile that dared to creep on his face.
âKinda,â
"You can't kinda wait for someone,"
"I was going to wait for you anyway, but then you left your bag near the pool table, gave me a good excuse." Will's gaze swept the roomâ their friends nearing on the edge of being plastered, singing and talking to strangers. He was searching for something, not someone, but something else.
Grabbing your attention, the bartender slings two pints your way, "For the couple," he winks, making your face burn. You both donât say anything at first, the atmosphere shifting to try to mold to both of your comforts.
The air had changed, suddenly gotten so dry and tight that it made Will's body stiffen. Ignoring the comment, Will grabs the glass and inspects it before taking a small sip.
âAre you.. seeing what people are saying?â Will asks as you grab the glass left unattended. "About us,"
His voice was low, eyes fixed somewhere just passed your shoulder, like looking at you directly might unravel something you both aren't ready for.
You shift uncomfortably, of course you did. How could you not? Every day since Will posted the video, when Ieuans' photos were released of both of you, last night's postâ youâd been getting tagged in edits, clips, everything. The question was big, pointed, and unexpected.
âYeah, Iâve seen a few things,â you lie, hiding your unease by squeezing the class tighter.
The look on Wills face, youâve seen it before. When editing software crashes, or when an unplanned event happens during a video, this time itâs a little different. Thereâs tension in his brows, his jaw isnât clenched, instead theres doubt, uncertainty, that strains him.
âItâs okay, Will, I swear it doesnât bother me.â you reassure, âUnless it.. it uh, bothers you, of courseââ
âNo! No, that isnât, no, it doesnât bother me at all,â he sputters earnestly. Will's eyes meet yoursâguarded but still steadyâbefore clamping his mouth shut. Holding back on the words dancing on his tongue.
"Okay," You slowly nod, as if youâre still processing it as youâre responding. You should leave it at that, finish your drink and head back towards the groupâ âThen why did you bring it up?â
What did they put in the liquor tonight?
In all the time you've known Will, he's not a good liar. Heâs also not good at hiding what heâs feeling on his face. His tongue presses against the inside of his bottom lip, face twisting to avoid an awkward grin.
âI thought it would make you uncomfortable,â he mutters, his eyes darting down to look at the foam in his glass. You shift, hesitantly moving closer to Will to capture his attention.
âWhat? No, itâs never made me uncomfortable before. Should it?â You ask, hand grazing his forearm. Which makes Will look at you before he shrugs, quiet and shy, similar to when you first met him.
"I've seen what it's done to other people, it could have a horrible ending,"
âDoesnât have to,â
âBut it could,â
âThat stuff doesn't change anything, we're still..." You begin defensively, before the weight of your words slowly starts to settle. "..where we are,â
You chew at the inside of your cheek, the adrenaline bleeding out of your system. You donât pick up on the shock on Wills face at first, but after a beat of silence you realize the depth of what you just said. Slowly, you swallow the sip from your drink, giving you enough time to possibly save yourself.
But you donât say anything.
You both stare at each other incredulously.
âWell, where are we, y/n?" Will probes. He can see it now, the look on your face, the shock, the stature of your posture, the mistake it was saying that outloud. You know heâs asking because he already has an answer in his head, but he wants you to reaffirm it. You know Will, and Will knows you, itâs inescapable.
Again, the silence stretches, but not comfortably like it was the night before in your living room. This time itâs heavy, thick with anticipation.
Even with the loud chatter in the pub, it makes your ears ring. Youâre convinced you two are the only ones not talking. The look on his face says heâs waiting for you to say something else, but you donât. You swallow and lick the dry cast on your lips, being the first to break eye contact. Breaking the string tying you two together at this moment.
âY/n, be honest with meââ
âHello! What are we standing around for? Weâre doing karaoke in the back, George has already had one too many as you can tell,â Chris comes over, his hands clasp Wills shoulders from behind. Chris looks at you first, and then glances to Will, noting the two of you saying nothing. Chris quirks an eyebrow, mouthing something along the lines of âBad time?â
âStop sitting around and flirting, will ya? At least when George flirts with him, he shares,â Stephen says teasingly, comes up to join you lot. He doesnât note the tension between the two of you, or he totally does and just doesn't care. Both of which are completely plausible answers.
âRight, Iâll come on over,â You affirm quickly, seeing this as your only out of the hole you dug yourself into. You give one last glance to Will, and his face is twisted. His eyebrows furrow together, and his lips are slightly parted, itâs a look that reads weâre not done.
But you give him a pleading look that says not right now.Â
âŚâ˝ď¸
Will doesnât say much for the next two hours. He lingers in the back of the group, occasionally sipping on his drink or checking the time on his phone. And you try your best not to stare, knowing that if you look his wayâ heâll already be looking at you. He does eventually join the others for karaoke, obnoxiously singing and joining in on music that is playing while you all walk to the next place.
Itâs left a pit in your stomach. Knowing that the next time you and Will are alone, youâll have to be the rawest form of yourself. The part that youâve been desperate trying to repress and lock away. Youâve never spoken much about how you really feel, afraid that if you start, youâll never stop. Your feelings for Will are like an oil spill, a match could be dropped and everything would be caught on fire.
You can feel it, the anxiety, it started at your toes and itâs slowly crept itâs way up your torso. The walls are closing in and time is escaping. All because Will doesnât speak to you, his fingers tapping the table rhythmically, his leg bouncing up and down causing friction to the table. You needed to talk now, even if it was going to ruin you.
Strategically, you get up from the table with a rather forced smile.
âI think itâs time for me to go home fellas,â you announce just after you all had arrived at a new pub. You had been to three pubs already, downed 4 shots, a tequila soda, a couple pints, and a dirty martini. Your shoes were sticking to the wood floors, phone on the verge of dying, and you were tired of having to hover while using the public restrooms.
âOh not yet, y/n! The night is still young,â George teasingly pleads, and when he leans over to pull you in for a hug you can smell the liquor on his breath. Your nose wrinkles as you pat his back, giving him a small shove after. Unlike Will, it wasnât as endearing .
âYou are so hammered,â you comment, the interaction making the group laugh.
âYou arenât hammered enough,â Cal counters, leaning over to offer you his drink, to which you decline. His eyes are glossed over, and he has this lopsided grin that reads trouble.
âTake care of him wonât you?â You say, pointing at Stephen who shakes his head in response. Regardless, he grabs Cal, and shakes him.
âYou stupid, fuckin idiot,â Stephen mutters to Cal, taking the glass between his hands and smelling it. His nose twitches, yet he still takes a small swig, coughing after the fact.
âDrinkin vodka that tastes and looks like medicine, youâre an odd man,â
âSeriously, Iâve got to get going,â Getting up, you shrug your coat on as you briefly say goodbye to everyone.
âWeâll take care of your husband, donât worry,â Stephen jokes, forcing Cal to sit down in the process.
âYou should really work on taking care of yours,â Chris bites back. You roll your eyes, trying to shrug off the overdone comment.
âNo one vomit,â
âWill do miss,â
âCanât promise anything,â
Telling Arthur to tell Chip you said goodbye, smacking Chris on the head for saying youâd come tonight, and finally, you wave to Will.
He nods at you, lifting his drink as acknowledgment. You pause, giving time for more to happen. You expect Will to join you, you hope he does, because you linger for a moment too long that everyone else noticesâ but he doesnât. His body still, leaned back into the chair he sat in. Wills eyes flicker back towards the lads, and he doesnât take a second glance. Heâs letting you walk away.
So you walk away.
And once youâre out of the bar, you convince yourself youâll hear his footsteps from behind. Ones that are hurried and rushed, maybe he was just taking his time to say his goodbyes. Will never let you leave without him, he always accompanied you, eventually going back to each others flat and falling asleep there. But you glance over your shoulder, once, twice, and before you know it, youâre on the train home. It leaves a hollow feeling in your heart, a cold chill that courses through your bones.
You don't remember the last time you left an event, a hangout, or even a video when Will didn't leave with you. You purposefully left thinking he would follow, but he didnât, so maybe it wasnât a big deal. Maybe youâre reading too much into it, he had a lot to drink and hasnât been able to get out very muchâ he was just having a good time!
Looking at your phone, with 5% left, you go to your messages. Waiting for his text seemed desperate, but he always sent you one after a night out, it was normal. Whatever normal means to you both.
With a loud groan, and a frustrated tug on your hair, your phone shuts off and you let it fall onto your lap. No phone, no company, and no alcohol. What a shit way to end the night.
Now youâre left to wonder on the ride home if that was casual, or if youâre an idiot.
Recently, Will hasn't been able to sleep. Ever since he watched you walk out of the pub a few nights ago, he's felt this lingering regret. He hasnât seen, texted, or called you since that night. And normally, he sends you a text to make sure you got home safe, but he didnât even do that. Instead he anxiously turned off his phone the rest of the night and has been avoiding the feeling since.
At first, Will thought it best to keep it to himself, until one morning Will gave James a call in the early afternoon.
âY/n says rubbish all the time, it could mean nothing,â James comments.Â
âNo! You knobhead! She had this, this look and she said it like she regretted it,â
âOr it could mean everything, and youâve completely screwed upââ James continues to mumble to himself.
âWhy donât you just make me feel worse about the situation, yeah?â Will huffs.
âThis is why I didnât want to give you my honest opinion because Iâm not involved in the situation. How am I supposed to know what look she had?â James points out.
âYouâve known her just as long as I have,â Will says quietly, picking up the dishes left on his bedside table and bringing them out into the kitchen.
âWhat, you want me to write a song about it?â
âJames!â Will whines.Â
âOkay, okay, what else happened?â Will sucks in air through his teeth, trying to recall the rest of the night.
âShe left after a couple hours, thatâs it,â
âWhatâs the matter with you?! You let her leave?â James yells over the phone, causing Wills eardrums to pop in response.
âWhat was I supposed to do? Follow her on the chance that she tells me that it was nothing?â Will argues, setting the dishes into the sink. Thereâs a silence over the phone before another loud yell,âYES!â
A beat of silence goes by, and then a wave of realization washes over. Will loudly groans, his palm banged against the counter sharply then slaps his forehead.
â..Iâm a proper idiot, arenât I?â Will asks, but mainly to himself. Finding himself leaning against his kitchen counter, pressing his phone to his ear with just his shoulder. He lets out another heavy sigh, using the pads of his fingers to rub circles on his temple and forehead.
âMate, what do I do?â Will asks defeatedly. James shifts over the phone, drawing his attention back to the phone call. He can hear James footsteps stop, settling down to think about the question.
âRealistically, you talk to y/n. Youâve known her since you were twenty-two, If you donât talk to her now youâll be dancing around your feelings until youâre sixty, and by then sheâll have grandkids. You and I both know that this isnât going away anytime soon,âÂ
âWhy are we being nasty?â Will says, a small exhausted smile making its way onto the corners of his mouth.
"I'm not! But I think it's ridiculous that you have any reason to believe that your feelings aren't reciprocated," James explains calmly. His tone was sure, confident, Will doesnât think heâs ever heard James be so serious before.
"Have you been watching those edits of her and i recently?" Will tries to steer the conversation where it doesnât put him in a vulnerable spot. Lightening the mood with a small quip, âTheyâre quite good, I can see how it would get in someoneâs head,â
"Maybe. But regardless, I can still see how obvious it is that you two want to be together. Do us all a favor, Will. Make it happen. I donât know what you're waiting for, really.â James confesses. As much as it was a weight off Wills shoulders, it was a weight off his as well.
So that's what Will does. After the phone call, he writes and deletes, and rewrites the text he's attempting to send you. Before he knows it, the sun is setting and heâs wasted the day away. So, instead, he gives up and heads towards your flat and arrives at seven sharp. No phone call, no text, just him.
With a small knock at your door, and his nerves making his hands twitch, he waits.
Will hears a few meows from inside, and then footsteps, before you slowly open the door.
âWill, hey,â you say softly, your eyes big with surprise. Will cradles a ball between his arms and a black jumper, rocking back and forth on his heels.
âSorry for showing up unannounced, I just..â Will trails off for a moment, suddenly forgetting how to breathe. You observe his nervous nature, and stay still, patient.
âDo you wanna go for a walk, maybe?â he asks carefully, trying to give you space if thatâs what you need. You lean against the door frame shrugging,
âItâs cold out,â
âI brought an extra jumper,â he says immediately, and your stature seems to soften. He holds it out for you, an expensive black knitted jumper he always wore in videos. From where you stood, you could smell his cologne, it makes you feel giddy. Even though you were still angry at how he disappeared the last few days.
âAlright, letâs go for a walk then,â you decide finally, knowing that Will wasnât here for just a walk. He knows you know that, but the look on your face makes him feel a little more hopeful than before.

Itâs filmed on the set of The Fellas podcast bright lights, big table, mics clipped on, cameras close enough to catch every tiny reaction. Across from you sit Calfreezy and Chip, both already suspicious before the episodeâs even started.
âProfessional,â Alfie says quietly before the cameras roll, giving you a pointed look.
âObviously,â you reply.
Youâre lying. Both of you.
The intro starts. Freezyâs in full host mode. Chipâs relaxed, leaning back, ready to stir something up if needed.
Alfieâs knee presses against yours under the table almost immediately.
You donât move it.
He doesnât either.
Heâs nodding along to whatever Freezyâs saying, pretending heâs focused, but his fingers hover dangerously close to your thigh. Not touching. Just resting there like heâs testing his own self-control.
You shift slightly closer.
His jaw tightens.
âDonât,â he mutters without turning his head.
âIâm not doing anything,â you whisper back.
Chip pauses mid-sentence. âWhy do you two look guilty already?â
âWe donât,â Alfie says too quickly.
Freezy squints at you both. âItâs been thirty seconds.â
You sit up straighter, innocent expression locked in. Alfie clears his throat and forces himself to focus.
It lasts about two minutes.
You laugh at something and grab his arm instinctively. Your fingers linger. His hand comes up automatically to cover yours, thumb brushing lightly over your knuckles before he even realises what heâs doing.
Freezy leans back in his chair slowly. âBrother.â
You both separate like youâve been caught passing notes in class.
âCarry on,â Alfie mutters, trying to look normal.
He answers the next question wrong. Completely wrong. Chip bursts out laughing.
âYouâre not listening at all,â Chip says, pointing at him. âWhatâs going on?â
âNothing,â Alfie replies, but his voice is rougher now.
Midway through the episode, you lean in to whisper something harmless genuinely harmless but your lips hover just a little too close to his ear. His hand slides to your waist instinctively, fingers pressing in slightly like he needs grounding.
He inhales sharply.
âBehave,â he murmurs, low enough only you can hear.
âYou behave,â you reply.
Freezy stops talking. Just stares at you both.
âThere is insane tension right now,â he says flatly.
âThere isnât,â Alfie insists.
There absolutely is.
Under the table, your thigh brushes his again this time deliberate. His hand grips your knee lightly, steady but firm.
âIf you donât stop,â he mutters quietly, eyes flicking to you, âIâm actually going to lose focus.â
âYou already have.â
Chip leans forward. âWhy do I feel like we shouldnât be here?â
Freezy shakes his head. âIâm separating you next time.â
You both try to behave after that. You genuinely try. Sitting upright. Hands to yourselves. Looking forward.
But every time you laugh, you lean into him. Every time he shifts, his shoulder brushes yours. Every time thereâs a pause in conversation, his fingers drift back to your waist like they belong there.
By the time Freezy finally says, âRight, thatâs a wrap,â the tension is ridiculous.
Cameras click off.
The room relaxes.
Alfie stands and pulls you up with him without thinking. His hands settle on your waist immediately, like heâs been holding back the entire time.
âYouâre impossible,â he says quietly, a faint smile tugging at his mouth.
âYou didnât move away,â you reply.
He steps closer, lowering his voice so only you hear.
âI didnât want to.â
In the background, Freezy groans. âIâm banning couples.â
Chip laughs. âNext episode, opposite ends of the table.â
It wouldnât matter.
Because the second youâre near each other â cameras or not you both forget thereâs anyone else in the room.
edies notes : sorry for the short-ish one, but i love love loved this idea i got when i was trying to fall asleep last night!! i'm working on some of your guys' requests i promise! đ
"okay! okay! lux! smash or pass simon?" freezy laughed out, followed by everyone else. you were all mildly, or completely drunk.
everyone had been pretty busy recently, and so group hangouts had been few and far between, but when you had the chance, you had to make the most of it.
"smash! all day long...!" lux slurred, his eighth pint of the night in front of him on the table, the liquid sloshing back and forth in the glass as the table shook with laughter.
"hmmm..." lux looked around the table for his target, before an idea came to mind, a cheeky, shit eating grin forming on his face as he made eye contact with you. "y/n." he began.
"smash or pass... harry wroetoshaw lewis?" he asked, through childish giggles.
you, being as drunk as ever, rolled your eyes as if the answer was completely obvious. "smash, alllll day, and alllll night!" you laughed out, downing the remainder of your drink.
harry's eyebrows raised and he let out a low chuckle, a smirk forming on his face. he was a complete heavyweight, he was on his seventh drink, and only just growing slightly delirious.
"and on that note.. i'm going to get another drink!" you slurred out as you stood from your seat, almost toppling over, before harry caught you to steady you, his hands gripping your waist.
"i'll come with you." he mumbled, standing up and steering you towards the bar, his hands still on your waist, a couple of his fingers ever so slightly sliding under your top, rubbing at the bare skin.
"they both need to man up and confess.." george mumbled, shaking his head as he watched the two of you at the bar.
you leant on the bar, facing harry as he looked down at you, a glint of love and admiration in his eyes. every time he saw you he was sure you got prettier.
he reached his arm out, tucking some hair behind your ear so it wasn't blocking his view of your face. your drunken state was so cute, the way you constantly smiled, how you were so giggly and giddy, speaking your truths without any doubt.
you were just so perfect in his eyes.
the group watched the two of you, secretly pleading that this where one of you spoke up and confessed. but they knew that wouldn't happen, they'd been waiting for so long that they were sure you'd still be oblivious even if a confession came up and slapped you round the face.
"you're really pretty, y/n..." he mumbled, his eyes transfixed on your mouth and the smile that took residence there.
"thank you, haz." you giggled out, looking up at him, your gaze flickering between his eyes, occasionally down at his lips. the alcohol in your system giving you some newfound confidence that you wouldn't have had otherwise.
he sighed as she looked at his lips, he was drunk, yes, yet he was still sober enough to know that she was much further gone than he was, and that he couldn't give in to the temptation.
the glimmer of hope - that maybe, just maybe you felt the same as him, and he could tell you just how he felt without rejection - slowly fading away as he realised you probably wouldn't remember any of the current interaction when you woke up in the morning.
the bartender placed your drinks on the countertop in front of the two of you, harry picking them up as he followed you back to the table. your shuffling your way back towards the group, happily moving along to the music in the back, before taking your seat back in between george and flo. harry sitting opposite you.
"hey, man, you okay?" freezy asked in a hushed tone, nudging harry's shoulder.
he looked up at him and nodded. "yeah, yeah, i'm good, why wouldn't i be?" harry answered, though the melancholy look on his face as he looked down at his lap said otherwise.
