Ashley Todd's performance was worthy of a Razzie.
October 2008 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ashley Todd, a 20-year-old volunteer for the John McCain presidential campaign, recounted a harrowing tale of politically based violence against her. On October 22, while at a Bank of America ATM, a "six-foot-four African American" man violently robbed her. He then became enraged when he saw a John McCain bumper sticker on her car. He punched her, then proceeded to carve a reversed "B" into her cheek with a knife while shouting, "You are going to be a Barack supporter." There was absolutely zero evidence that such a crime had been committed. Surveillance cameras showed nothing of the sort. Todd admitted to making up the story and carving into her own cheek. She was charged with a misdemeanor and was ordered to undergo mental health counseling.
