Heyo just a quick reminder that it’s possible to be queer and religious or be religious and not consider being queer a sin. Hey queer religious people, you rock, by the way! You keep on keeping on!
And when people call for us to be “saved”, because “oh we’re good people we’ve just fallen to sin” (wow because being queer is totally a fucking CHOICE amirite? /sarcasm), what they’re really calling for is our psychological and sometimes physical torment. Conversion therapy isn’t some happy little camp where we sometimes get disciplined, it’s a fucked up little slice of hell on earth where we’re taught self hatred and alienation from our own identities through, again, torment. I’ve had a friend, a best friend, go through conversion therapy and she… she came back so… mentally screwed over. She’s grown from it, yknow, gotten better, but it still hurts to even think about, to remember how she came back.
Not to mention that in the United States, our fucking vice president is an advocate for ELECTRO-FUCKING-SHOCK THERAPY. Literal torture.
So yeah, maybe the people who want us “saved” don’t want to see us thrown in concentration camps (which have targeted queer people before and currently do in Russia) but they’re not our allies, they’re not our friends, they think they want to be our friends and that they can be while they simultaneously speak against SOMETHING WE DON’T HAVE A CHOICE IN.
Until you can accept things people don’t have a choice in, you don’t actually “love the sinner”.
We don’t need saving, and we don’t want saving.
