After searching #picturebook in the TUMBLR search engine, many picture books came up, a lot i had never seen before and this was a little bit of a let down as  I was expecting to see covers of picture books i knew quite well. Personally i didn’t think there would be as many as i found because i never thought Tumblr would be used for that particular audience, however it was nice to see that some individuals do think about picture books beyond the life of a teacher. I scrolled down until i came across this image, with multiple picture books and instantly i was engaged to look at all of the bright colours and various picture books titles, again some i had never seen before. This flat lay for myself reminds myself of my time during primary school, as i also had pile of picture books together, i loved the blend of bright colours and pictures and how they collectively remind you of such great stories and characters. After looking to find a similarity amongst all of these books, i came to the conclusion that they all teach children a meaningful message to use in every day life including the use of manners, the importance of brushing your teeth, advice to little girls and separation from parents.  whilst i didn't find many things that interested myself, i believe tumblr could become an excellent resource for teachers if they have the exposure to it that we have been given other wise they are all missing out. 

Comprehending: * What does albert mean when he says 'It's an overkill' ? * What where pages 3- 5 about? * What does Albert mean when he says 'My parents have gone cashew nuts over our tenth anniversary' ?  Knowledge and remembering: *Who went to the thai restuarant? * Who wanted to touch the man's bottom? * What was Albert called in primary school? * Why werent Albert & Kitchai getting paid to deliver flyers?

5|6 Video: Indigenous Australia Today Front Loading Literature: (History, Grade 6)  This video presents an understanding an indigenous Celebrating their aboriginal heritage, explaining how there has been some positive changes for indigenous Australians since the 1967 referendum, in particular Comparing the divide in the country (between indigenous & Non-indigenous) in 1967 compared to todays society. This videos illustrate just how far we as a nation have come and how we are connected to those of an indigenous background. For the beginning of this lesson: i will ask the students to think about our indigenous people, thinking about any prior knowledge they might have... thinking about their own personal knowledge, during the video they need to write down any information stated comparing and contrasting the information they might have already knew. From this students will come to the floor to participate in a classroom discussion, discussing their overall similarities and differences and some of the questions they might want answers too after watching the video. Complying the questions as a class we will discuss of the answers, after the classroom discussion has finished i will then introduce the book to the students and continue upon their learning

3. Front Loading: From the book the students can look at the cover and have a brief flick through some of the pages to brainstorm some ideas & questions regarding the book and what they predict it to be about. From these questions, they can be used to ensure they comprehended what it was they read, they can see if their predictions were accurate or not contrasting and comparing their initial ideas.

Third year placement: went out with a bang! Throughout the past two weeks, i survived grade 5, literacy and a cold. Whilst I taught 6 literacy lessons over the two weeks, we had a lot of other educational distractions arise including 3 excursions. When I was able to teach literacy I introduced to the students how to infer from a text and how to compare and contrast ideas. I also taught a couple of lessons on procedural writing; the students had to create a creative candy recipe - including the materials, equipments, ingredients and the steps of how to create it after they had completed a draft they had to revise it, edit it and then publish it. I liked the fact that the students had different tasks according to their literacy ability, this meant all of the students were 100% engaged with the task at hand and were able to answer their set comprehension questions with ease and without just sitting their not understanding the chosen reading. (The ability range for literacy started at an 10 years old - and went all the way up to an14year old) The class itself wasn't reading a book together however in each child's 'book box' which remained at the top of their tables they had to keep a minimum of 5 books and they had to be a mixture or fiction and non- fiction. When the students finished a task early and or every morning they would read until the teacher introduced the next lesson - these books were rotated weekly.

Reflection:  The last time i was given the opportunity to create a classroom display was during high school for project. It was an assignment to create a poster containing facts, drawings and other information relevant to the set text at that chosen time. It was displayed with the rest of my peers work around of English classroom and we used these as reference points throughout the study of that book when we were required to gather unknown information or to help expand our ideas ensure we were inferring from the text in our essays.  Poster: (Attached above) Using the Seminar Slides 10 - 27 from week two i have constructed a poster using Microsoft office word to display and highlight the important teaching comprehension strategies for literacy, when i wasn’t able to find information for all of the strategies solely from the slides, i had taken notes previously from pages 91-97 from the textbook activity on slide 11 and i have included these also. I’m not one for memes, however i do believe the poster i have created is suitable for a classroom. 

The Magic Hat, by Mem Fox instantly takes myself back to my first year of school, sitting inside my prep class with all of my friends and my teacher: Mrs W. I haven't seen this book until recently, and I instantly felt happy see it after so many years, To this very day i can still visualise my teacher reading it to the class - with such excitement, they way she altered her expressions as the pages went on and how everyone in the class laughed at the different voices she read it in. This book as a child and even reading it 16 years on is one of my most happiest experiences of being read too; no matter how many times we heard it we loved it and were so engaged by the story being told. I have constructed a short video, with some of my favourite pages to give you all a visual of the story that will forever remain my childhood favourite.
