Questions as such will open up a number of idea and themes within this broad topic, students are to share their questions with the class, compare them and see if any students have the same queries. this will later on lead to the book itself, which may answer majority of the students’ questions. If their questions are not answered, this can be set as an extension task for students who finish their work early. 

5|6 Video: Indigenous Australia Today Front Loading Literature: (History, Grade 6)  This video presents an understanding an indigenous Celebrating their aboriginal heritage, explaining how there has been some positive changes for indigenous Australians since the 1967 referendum, in particular Comparing the divide in the country (between indigenous & Non-indigenous) in 1967 compared to todays society. This videos illustrate just how far we as a nation have come and how we are connected to those of an indigenous background. For the beginning of this lesson: i will ask the students to think about our indigenous people, thinking about any prior knowledge they might have... thinking about their own personal knowledge, during the video they need to write down any information stated comparing and contrasting the information they might have already knew. From this students will come to the floor to participate in a classroom discussion, discussing their overall similarities and differences and some of the questions they might want answers too after watching the video. Complying the questions as a class we will discuss of the answers, after the classroom discussion has finished i will then introduce the book to the students and continue upon their learning

On the Splash ABC website, I watched the above mentioned video. The children in it were singing about their connectedness to the land, and their reasons why they love it. This lyrics are sung in their traditional language as well as in English. It provides various sounds and images for the students to be able to consider whilst watching it.  The front loading activity I would use prior to showing my students the video is reading “The Rainbow Serpent” by Dick Roughsey. I have chosen this book specifically because the song mentions the Rainbow Serpent, and I would like to see how many children in the class are actually listening and identify that it has been mentioned. If they are paying attention to the well-thought out lyrics that are being shared, they will identify some other topics and themes that will be further explored through independent research later on.
