Just under 2 weeks until it’s Inktober time once again and I’ve been really debating whether I was going to be taking part this time around since my creativity has been in the bin lately. Thanks to some encouragement from @huntuckian I’ve managed to scrape enough motivation together to at least give this challenge a go again this year since it’s a bit of an October tradition for me. Now, onto the prompts! No one list fully grab my attention so I’ve decided to create my own this year inspired by spooky myths, legends and folklore. So The Owl House eps 11-15 of season 2 have finally been released on Disney+ in the UK and I’m so happy we got to see more Lilith! Especially cool aunt Lilith 💕 It really put me in the mood to try and draw Lulu again and I’m actually really happy with the results. I’ve been really uninspired lately because I’ve grown really bored of my art style. I feel it’s too stiff and flat so I’m now experimenting with different styles and studying different artists. This one is inspired by Max Sarin’s comic style. If you don’t know their work definitely check them out on twitter! I’ve just finished one of the comic series’ they illustrated (Giant Days) and I absolutely love the style of the whole series. I love how expressive all their panels are so here’s my attempt at replicating their style with another group illustration of the Orilium gang. So the winner for the poll for my final character was Mabel Pines. I’ve been rewatching Gravity Falls recently so I was secretly hoping that Mabel would win. I felt I wanted to challenge myself a bit with the last drawing so I decided to draw Mabel with her grappling hook because apparently I like to punish myself (hands AND a gun type shape? Why do I do this to myself?!) In conclusion I’ve found I really enjoy drawing in this new lineless style and I think I’m going to carry on experimenting with it for a while now. ⁠Next up we have Edalyn Clawthorne from The Owl House. I absolutely LOVE this show and highly recommend it to everyone. I was torn between drawing Eda or her sister Lilith so maybe next time I'll have to draw Lilith to complete the (incredibly dysfunctional) family.⁠ ⁠ I wanted to experiment more with lighting with this one and I quite like how this one turned out. Day 31 - Monster Mash Up⁠ ⁠ ⁠And finally we've reached the end of another Inktober drawing challenge. This prompt was definitely the hardest for me to come up with ideas for because I wanted monsters that had fairly iconic features in order for me to mix them together and still be fairly recognisable as the individual parts.⁠ ⁠ This was actually my second attempt as I wasn't really feeling my first design which combined the Mari Lwyd, a Wendigo and the Dullahan. (Final slide for my initial sketch - let me know if I should actually finish this.)⁠ ⁠ This design was inspired by some creatures in Greek mythology. Day 29 - UFO⁠ ⁠ ⁠This is a bit of an amalgamation of different aliens that I saw whilst looking for references for this prompt. Since I've already drawn a pin up type character for this month, I wanted to avoid an alien pin up girl (although there were a lot of references for that). In the end my alien girl was mainly influenced by the Asari race from Mass Effect and the Little Green Men from Toy Story.
