Alligators can sense when water is going to freeze so they’ll stick their noses up above the waterline and just freeze like that, going into a state similar to hibernation. Then the water thaws and they go about their business with no apparent injury. The same group of gators have made the news for doing this for the second year in a row. Gators are just like that.

It’s a totally different way of living and it impacts you long after you’ve left the situation.
