KIRK THIS WHY YOU GOTTA FILL OUT THE LOG
Iâve heard the theory that Kirkâs logs just get circulated round headquarters for lulz before being dumped in the circular file as obvious fabrications by someone bored with a frontier posting. âHey, have you seen this one? He says he fought Apollo.â âWhat, the old earth probe?â âTry the old earth GOD!â âHilarious! Classic Kirk! Thatâs better than the time when he was transported to an evil dimenison.â The reason why in The Naked Now it was Riker who remembered that the previous polywater infection had happened is that heâs the sort of person who would read The Hilarious Adventures of Captain Kirk for fun.
I especially like this idea because of the implication that all the other captains in Starfleet are reporting perfectly ordinary experiences like visiting a space station, dropping off supplies at a colony, bit of a stand-off with some Klingons in disputed space but got out of it unscathed - and then thereâs Kirk all, âsorry guys weâve been off course this week because my first officer seriously needed to get laid (LIKE YOU HAVE NO IDEA MY NECK STILL HURTS)â and âlet me tell you about the Chicago Gangster planetâ and âWHIPPED AND THROWN IN JAIL BY SPACE NAZIS.â
I actually really like the above explanation
âSo wait, they stole his first officerâs brain?â
I always preferred the idea that every single Constitution-class starship of the Kirk era was running into all kinds of insane shit and so the Enterpriseâs adventures mostly just got lost in the shuffle.
âSir, Starbase 12 reports a flock of space sharks cruising through the system. Â Theyâre worried about them chewing on the antennae.â
âCan we get the Hood over there to monitor their path and shoo them off if need be?â
âNo can do sir, Hood called in two days ago, says the Captain took his security detail down to the local surface to fight an army of evil komodo dragons.â
âDamn. Â What about the Valiant?â
âCaptain says sheâs currently engaged in a duel of wits with a clone of Bismarck.â
âLike the battleship?â
âNo sir, a clone of Otto von Bismarck, the German chancellor from the 1900s.â
âIâm scared to ask, but whereâs the Potemkin?â
âLast reported in pursuit of a super-intelligent shade of blue.â
âGodâs sake. Â What about the Enterprise, are they available?â
âSomething about a hole in space.â
âChrist, itâs always something.â

Assata Shakur on capitalism, socialism and anti-communism (excerpts from Assata: An Autobiography)
I wasnât against communism, but i canât say i was for it either. At first, i viewed it suspiciously, as some kind of white manâs concoction, until i read works by African revolutionaries and studied the African liberation movements. Revolutionaries in Africa understood that the question of African liberation was not just a question of race, that even if they managed to get rid of the white colonialists, if they didnât rid themselves of the capitalistic economic structure, the white colonialists would simply be replaced by Black neocolonialists. There was not a single liberation movement in Africa that was not fighting for socialism âŚ
The whole thing boiled down to a simple equation: anything that has any kind of value is made, mined, grown, produced, and processed by working people. So why shouldnât working people collectively own that wealth? Why shouldnât working people own and control their own resources? Capitalism meant that rich businessmen owned the wealth, while socialism meant that the people who made the wealth owned it.
I got into heated arguments with sisters or brothers who claimed that the oppression of Black people was only a question of race. I argued that there were Black oppressors as well as white ones. Thatâs why youâve got Blacks who support Nixon or Reagan or other conservatives. Black folks with money have always tended to support candidates who they believed would protect their financial interests. As far as i was concerned, it didnât take too much brains to figure out that Black people are oppressed because of class as well as race, because we are poor and because we are Black. âŚ
[Earlier in my life] When someone asked me what communism was, i opened my mouth to answer, then realized i didnât have the faintest idea. My image of a communist came from a cartoon. It was a spy with a black trench coat and a black hat pulled down over his face, slinking around corners âŚ
I never forgot that day. Weâre taught at such an early age to be against the communists, yet most of us donât have the faintest idea what communism is. Only a fool lets somebody else tell him who his enemy is⌠Itâs got to be one of the most basic principles of living: always decide who your enemies are for yourself, and never let your enemies choose your enemies for you.
is he okay

HAVE YâALL SEEN THIS SHIT ON TWITTER IâM LITERALLY DECEASED (her twitter)
Bonus:
Saying you identify with the opposite gender, means you hold stereotypes about the opposite gender.
as far as i can figure it out, after years of trying my hardest to wrap my head around the gender discussion in academia, trans spaces, specifically educational spaces, and lots of websites, in order to identify as the opposite gender you must at least have some concept of what said gender is.
and you must have some concept of how said gender conflicts with the gender society as assigned to you, which means you must have a concept of what that gender is.
which means that in order to identify as any gender, you must have a concept of at least two genders.
and what is a concept of a gender vs a stereotype of a gender?
especially if a gender is not defined by presentation, preferences, hobbies, or physical characteristics?Â
what is a gender at all?
what I think this âshower thoughtâ is saying is that in order for one to say âmy gender is x not y,â they must be able to point to something about themselves that makes them x gender and not y gender, and that, fundamentally means saying that that trait is something that x gender people do/have/like/prefer. a stereotype, if you will.
in my years of reading, iâve heard a lot about âgut feelingsâ or âjust knowingâ but honestly, thatâs fine for you, but itâs shit as discourse and useless as an explanation. Iâll respect your pronouns and your identity, but your not doing anything to convince me that gender is a thing.
please donât tell me to educate myself iâve been trying to do that for like 5 years now. if you link me to a text please stick around to listen to my questions about it because honestly, they all have the same issues which are that none of them define gender or if they do they are gender essentialist or if they arenât they donât include non-binary/genderfluid/non-op/no-hormone/non-dysphoric trans people.
so this shower thought is badly worded, sure
but calling it âterf logicâ and not explaining why itâs wrong is really unhelpful to me. As someone who has been trying to figure this out for personal reasons.
So like. good job scaring away potentially trans people who are logically minded.
For 5 years.
PS. donât say âmaybe youâre agenderâ
because that still doesnât answer any of my questions.
I think what makes this seem terfy is not the sort of question itself as it were i.e. âhow do you identify as a gender without having stereotpyes of that genderâ.
What makes this terfy is the assumption that cis people donât do this too.
honestly Iâd be hard pressed to find any cis person that thinks sheâs female because âidk, I always liked lipstick and glitter and pinkâ and not âIâm biologically/anatomically femaleâ
like, almost all cis people identify as their gender because of their sex. itâs trans people who find some other meaning in gender to identify with
Being "biologically/anatomically female" is a literally meaningless distinction without the gender stereotypes. Sex reinforces gender reinforces sex. Trans people put no more "meaning" into gender than cis people - we just vocalize it in a way cis people don't have to.
tbh 99% (100%?) of jokes and think pieces about Donald Trump are completely unnecessary and self-congratulatory liberal bullshit
Liberal who writes for buzzfeed: Trump sucks! He is bad! Heâs like a mean child!
Other liberals:
liberals:Â
But like⌠Are we gonna pretend Trump doesnât suck? I meanâŚâŚ
I donât think you get it
bye i just realized that Dita Von Teese and Kat Von D are 2 different people

BLM: here are the solutions we propose for ending police brutality that consist of holding police officers accountable for murdering civilians, demilitarizing, defunding, and ultimately disbanding police officers white liberals:Â anyways thatâs great and all but have you seen those cops at the cookout? we need more police officers like them. Also have you seen Officer Tommy whip and nae-nae haha #blacklivesmatter? or something #ImWithHer
That cookout was a very positive step for the community. BLM set it up with the WPD to bring the community together and had a forum where the community got to express their true opinions and ask the hard questions. It was about building trust and letting the public know that theyâll be treated with respect. Wichita is not know for police brutality and didnât want to ever be so they though this would be a good bridge. Itâs a start! I swear people complain about everything. They had fun and videos went viral. Maybe instead of complaining other BLM leaders should have cookouts and make their police chiefs see the humanity in all of us and promise to do better and hold his people accountable when they act a damn fool. Yes prosecute! Yes stop racism! Yes stop systematic killing of blacks! But yes reach out to the community and hope they trust yo ass enough to reach back.
Iâm honestly the people who complain about everything
The purpose of the police will never allow them to be benevolent toward us. They are armed tax-collectors and policy enforcers who are meant only to control our actions. In terms of âfreedom and libertyâ they impede on both. The best thing they can do is ignore their duties, in which case why do we even have them?
