DnD game with characters named Bunny Wabbit, Ford Trukk, and Dildo Baggins: Our current mission is to find a birthday present for a spoiled prince but in the process we found a lich planning to devour the life force of everyone in the land and Dildo gave his life to stop him in a scene so moving it won the Newberry Medal

If you try to enforce a "serious" tone, it just makes the gags funnier, and your players will treat you with the same casual blasphemy orangutans show to God.

It’s not unreasonable to expect players to play along with the story, engage with the world, and work together. Players who get their kicks by immediately murdering or seducing or otherwise harassing every single NPC they meet, or complain loudly about exposition and storytelling, or go out of their way to make sure the DM thinks the plot is stupid and they’re just there to wreck shit, are the fucking worst.

The two players that are, without question, present at every one of my tables.

Most DMs take one look at encumbrance and Rations and go ‘wtf is this shit? shoo, shoo, get outta here’
