the year is 2050. j2 are at a con to talk about their classic show spn. someone asks a question about sam and dean's relationship, and jensen talks at length about how much dean loves sam and how he thought his speech in the barn scene reflected that perfectly. jared talks about how difficult it was for sam to live without dean. they agree that the boys had a good life together before dean's death, and that their reunion in heaven is the perfect ending for them.
on twitter, a user with a blue and green heart in their username tweets:

meanwhile, none of this changes the fact that sam and dean are canon soulmates, who lived out their semi-retirement domestic fantasies in the bunker after years of thinking they could never have that kind of peace. j2 are still attached at the hip, spending insane amounts of time together. they have long since stopped pretending to acknowledge misha's existence, even though every now and then he still tweets inappropriate things about jensen. all six of his remaining fans are delighted by this but no one else cares. jared has gone on to star in several successful shows, and even a few movies. jensen directs all of them. their spin-off short series about sam and dean in heaven was a massive hit.

on november 19, jensen posts the barn scene. jared posts the bridge reunion. they talk about how much spn means to them and how much they still care about sam and dean. they don't mention misha at all, even when he posts his own crying face from his final scene.

I am creating a fanbook/a collection of letters & essays (& fanart) for Jared, which I'll give to him personally at my con in May!
If you are interested in participating, please read info below ā
Why?
On one hand, so that people who can't go to cons or meet&greets or whatever (and anyone else) have the opportunity to write to Jared/say what they want to say and know he will receive it.
But also because of how a huge part of the fandom talks about both Jared & Sam. I want to create something that shows that despite it all, there's a lot of people all over who love Sam, and who truly engage with & are interested in his character ābecause of Sam, and not just in relation to other characters/the shipsā, and who appreciate/love Jared and his acting and what he does. Obviously he knows he has fans, but if you've ever been to a con or simply have been recommended SPN posts on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook, you know how heavy the Dean & D3stiel ship bias is, and how hard it is to find anything that focuses positively on Sam or Jared unless you're already in a smaller community/corner of the fandom.
What can I write about?
You can send letters with opinions, personal interpretations, analysis, thanks, compliments, questions and anything else you can think of.
Sam's character, Jared as a person & as an actor, should be the focus.
Examples/suggestions: how much and why you like a certain arc or a specific trait of Sam. Things you like and admire about Jared. Why/that you liked the way he portrayed certain things (like the character switches during possession arcs, body language and facial expressions, line deliveries etc). Scenes/moments/things he said that stuck with you. Scenes/plotlines regarding Sam you wish would've been mentioned again or explored more. You can talk about the way Sam's character gets mistreated narratively or criticised by the audience, and how you feel about it or why you disagree with it (like how Sam gets the blame for the s5 apocalypse, soulless Sam, S8-9 etc). Things you wondered about, questions about Sam & plotlines, Jared's opinions about certain arcs/scenes/retcons/lines, about acting choices or literally Whatever. Obviously you won't get an answer to a question, but it'll show interest, and might motivate him to talk more openly about certain things again. That you liked "unpopular" plotlines or things that a lot of people criticize Sam for, like Amelia or the demon blood arc. Scenes, or things Jared did that made you happy, motivated you etc. Things that remind you of Sam/Jared or recommending things you think he'd like. You can also talk about his other projects, old or upcoming.
Please feel free & encouraged to mention/talk about super small details, specific scenes and episodes, Jared moments or acting choices, etc. It'd cool if we have a lot of little different things!
Are there any limits or rules?
The only "rules" would be that if you talk about your mental health or personal struggles, don't go into too much detail or focus your letter ENTIRELY on it. For example, you can say that Sam's character or Jared have helped you through difficult times, and thank him for that or for AKF. Or that a specific storyline of Sam has related to your own issues. But try not to write an entire letter in graphic detail about your mental health issues/traumas. Talk about other things too. If you have any questions or you're unsure about what you wrote, just ask. I won't leave out a letter without a word.
For fanart: no AI, no porn.
What's the difference between sending via Google Forms or Email?
You can send in your letters/fanart via Google Forms or per E-Mail to [email protected] until May 10th 2026
While Google Forms asks you to sign in with one of your Emails to use it,* I * won't actually see who sent the letter. It's anonymous, but also means that you won't get a notification that your letter has been received.
Per E-Mail, I can reply to you that I received it & added it to the book.
Good to know:
There is no text length minimum or limit. There is no limit of the amount of letters I'll put into the book. The letters will be in the order I receive them in.
If you send a letter via E-Mail, it should be in the E-Mail body (plain text) or PDF. Art can be JPG or PDF.
There is no age minimum/limit, you don't have to be 18 to participate.
If you sent a letter AND fanart, the fanart will be right with your letter in the book. If it's sent in together, I'll add it together, so that if you want to write about what you drew, it's clear what work you're talking about.
If you later want to edit your letter or add something to it, please send me the entire letter again with your edits, and I'll just switch the old to the new version. I wont manually edit anything.

Jared received the book! I gave a little context (it being more essays and analysis than a traditional fanbook) and he looked very positively surprised by it. First he thought it was just from me and I was like, "no there's like 40 people in it" and he went like "oh wow really?" and thanked again and gave a fist bump. šāāļø

Do you agree with the statement that later seasons became more about Dean which was also part of the reason the later seasons suffer for that. I do feel like round S9 onwards the writers etc seemed to just like writing for Dean. Which cause Dean to get too much focus, while Sam gets the odd moment but less embarrassing scenes
Nope. Only a third of season 9 and the whole of season 10 was about Dean, and the ratings were kind of terrible, so TPTB returned the show to the Sam/Bibo centric formula in season 11 and onward and the ratings had a heathy rebound.
Dean is not the lead protagonist, he's the support protagonist because only 20% of the stories revolveĀ around him.Ā Dean does not have important stories separate to Samās, nor does he have his own supporting cast. Most of Deanās interaction with Cas and other supporting characters are not about him but rather about his reaction to their stories because the role of the support protagonist is not only to support the lead but also support the side characters. That is why it seems to you that Dean gets "too much focus", but the biggest complaints by Dean girls is the focus is actually on the side characters, not on Dean. To quote a casual SPN observer I found on tumblr: Sam gets the larger story arcs in the show and Dean gets more of the āsilly and funā filler episodes.
With that said, you weren't totally wrong. Season 9 started out a banger, but it was pretty clear to me that they pivoted in the 2ndĀ half of the seasonĀ because it was hijackedĀ in order to set up a Dean-centric season 10.Ā Jensen had campaigned for years for a Dean-centric season (X), which he finally got in season 10 and said it was a ārare Dean-centric storylineā and how āDeanās rarely in this position of being the focal point of the general storyās motivation,ā because Supernatura "is Sam-centric" Ā (X).
Season 11 and onward pretty much pretended that season 10 never happened and picked back up from where they left off in season 8/9:
season 8 foreshadowed Samās endgame in the series finale
season 9 Sam tried to set boundaries in order to save his and Dean's relationship
season 11 Sam has to seek answers by reconnecting with his old foe, Lucifer, and his childhood imaginary friend, Sully, who belongs to the only supernatural race without agenda other than the best interest of the children.Ā
season 12 Sam makes deal with the metaphoric devil for the greater good, which Sam then has to make it right by becoming a leader.
season 13 Sam becomes a father figure to the son of his greatest enemy, foreshadowing his own fatherhood in the series finale to continue the Winchester legacy.
season 14 broke down Sam piece by piece in order for him to build himself back up and see the bigger picture and refuse to follow ITāS THE ONLY OPTION solution by Dean for the upteenthe time.
season 15 Sam completes the "atonement with the father" of his Hero Journey and gets his happy ending.
