Where All My Fantasies Are Written

Kory sat on Dick’s lap in the corner of the little get-together Donna Troy was hosting, watching entranced as Kamaria, who everyone but her referred to as Kam, attempted to teach Conner Kent how to properly dance to Shakira after successfully talking him into it.

The Alien Princess felt the corner of her lip tug upward, hearing Kam laugh as Connor moved stiffly. “No, no, no!” Kam says, tugging on Connor’s arm so he wouldn’t leave the ‘dance’ floor. “You just have to loosen up!” She tells him, locking her fingers with his so he couldn’t leave her so easily. “Like this.” She says as she effortlessly rocks her hips side to side. “Just relax and feel the music. Have fun!”

Connor copies despite feeling ridiculous. If making a fool out of yourself and not caring about what others thought could help him feel human, then he was going to try.

“There you go! Don’t let those hips lie.” Caused a few who were near to chuckle, including Dick who watched fondly and longingly. He had tons of feelings run through him for the past couple of months, some of which were reevaluations he wished were more clear in the past. He missed his best friend, felt something more for his best friend, which felt wrong because he actively felt that way for the girl currently in his lap right now. It was confusing, frustrating, and maddening! Sometimes he was glad Kam kept her distance after he got into his relationship with Kory. It stopped him from making possible damaging mistakes to their friendship and his relationship because he knew there was no way he could have his cake and eat it too, though if he could, he would without any hesitation.

“Do you think she would teach me?” He heard Kory ask, cutting his stare from Kam. “Hmm? I’m sure Kam wouldn’t mind.” Dick murmured, pressing a kiss on Kory’s shoulder. “Are you sure? Every time I try talking to her, she always keeps it brief.” Kory frowned, feeling her pulse quicken as Kam danced more fluently now that Connor had more confidence. Kory and Dick felt their throats go dry with thirst as they both watched, unaware of each other’s similar reaction.

“I can…talk to her.” Dick offers as his eyes track every fluid, isolating hip movement Kam made to the Shakira song.

Kory stuck her tongue out to hydrate her dry lips as she watched in amazement. “I just wish we could be girlfriends.”

Dick raised an eyebrow slightly, knocked out of his hypnosis when he heard his girlfriend say that. “Hmm?”

Scrambling, Kory stutters awkwardly, “You know, like best girl…friends! Like friend friend! Platonic, not…romantic…”

Dick nods slowly, not wanting to say anything to make it even more awkward.

He couldn’t blame Kory for wanting to be girlfriends with Kam even in a platonic way, though deep down he had a gut feeling Kory didn’t truly mean platonic. He was still struggling with seeing Kam in a platonic way, but she was just so gorgeous and hypnotizing, and he’d do anything to feel those full lips that looked so soft on his, but he loved Kory! Adored her and didn’t want to mess that up! Hence his dilemma.

Donna smirks, watching the two get entranced by Kam before walking over with two red Solo cups. “You two look insanely thirsty,” she says, offering the cups to them.

“I made mango lemonade slushies…Kam’s favorite.” She says, continuing to smirk.

“Actually, her favorite is cranberry… Mangoes are just her favorite fruit…” Dick corrects, taking one of the cups from Donna.

“Awh the Kam expert-”

“I am her best friend!”

“Yet I see and know something you don’t!” Donna grins turning on her heels to continue her hosting duties.

Dick rolls his eyes, adjusting Kory in his lap before taking a sip from his cup. He grumbles, thinking about what Donna says. His mind can’t help but wonder what Donn meant, and he knew he was going to find out either by investigating or being told. He was hoping it was the latter because curiosity was starting to munch away at him.

*Later at the party*

Kam sat on the couch across from M’gann playing Would You Rather: Sour Edition, where you have to decide to do what the other person says or eat a piece of the world’s sourest candy. Dick smirks, watching as M’gann taps out and rushes to rinse her mouth out with water. He chuckles cockily, taking her seat and giving Kam a grin.

“The boy wonder…coming to lose?” Kam asked offering him a soft smile. She had been avoiding him and his girlfriend since they arrived. Did she feel bad? Yes!

But every time she would hang out with them, she felt like she was intruding! The last thing she wanted to be was a third wheel. And for some odd reason, she felt jealous…of them both. She is comfortable in her sexuality! She happily came out as Bisexual at the last little shindig that was thrown, to which the ‘Boy Wonder’ and his Alien Princess skipped. Conveniently for her sake, the two had wanted a romantic night in rather than to hang out with friends, which Kam was grateful for because she felt like it would’ve been more awkward if they were there. She always had felt attraction to both sexes since 15, but she never felt the ‘Bi panic’ until she saw Kory with her best friend she had a crush on since she was 12. That’s something you can’t just talk to your best friend about. She couldn’t imagine confessing such a thing! And she feared ruining her friendship or, even worse! Potentially messing up Dick’s relationship with Kory because of her feelings…towards them both.

“I’m a winner through and through! You should know that Kam-Kam.” Dick says keeping his cocky smile.

“The vain and cocky always winds up being the sorest loser…you should know that-”

Dick waves her off slumping in his chair slightly.

“Would you rather…let me go through your phone’s search history or eat a….sour pineapple cluster?” He asks after studying the selection of sour candy on the table.

“What’s on my phone that you want to see?”

“I don’t know? Are you hiding something?” He counters.

“I’m as open as a book-”

“So give me your phone.” He stretches his arm out towards her waiting for her to slide the device onto his palm.

Shrugging she does so.

Kam watches him unlock her phone with the passcode he memorized, rolling her eyes at comments from onlookers. “Ohhh, scandalous!” He teases as he goes through her pictures, making Kam roll her grayish blues again because she knew that her scandalous photos were locked away in a separate gallery that was under a different password he didn’t know.

Except for…

“Oh shit don’t go passed-”

She knew it was too late when he froze, and a red tint painted his cheeks before he hid the phone screen by pressing it to his chest. He shot her a look, feeling his throat go dry for the second time that night. He gave her a look. A wide eyed disbelief look that had her blushing with awkwardness.

“Yeah…. Sorry you had to see that-”

“See what? Was it bad? Like a very bad case of butt acne?” Wally laughs as he stuffs potatoe chips in his mouth.

Dick continued to stare at Kam in shocked not knowing how to process seeing such an image.

Donna crosses her arms “couldn’t have been that bad-”

“No!” Dick responds finally able to tear his eyes away.

He hands Kam back her phone screen side down even though he turned the phone off.

Kam takes it and stuffs it in her back jean pocket before standing. “Maybe someone should take my place.”

She says scratching the back of her neck before heading to the kitchen.

Everyone was curious but said nothing and soon enough someone took Kam and Dick’s place as Dick follows her into the kitchen. Kory watches from the distance wishing to hear the conversation between the two.

“Don’t say anything-”Kam starts off. She rests her hands on the counter, her shoulders slumped.

“I’m not judging…I think-”

“You shouldn’t have an opinion Dick-”

“Who cares about taboos! You looked beautiful-”

“Dick-”

“Whatever happened to ‘Dickie’? I missed that.”

Kam sighs looking over her shoulder just to make eye contact with the Alien Princess.

“I didn’t want to give your girlfriend any wrong impressions.”

Dick lets out a huff finding her reason understandable. “I get it…I just miss my best Friend….”

“I’m not dead-”

“You just don’t want to hang out with me anymore!”

Kam gave him a look as she turns around and lean against the counter.

“I don’t want to feel like a third wheel!” She starts off ignoring the appalled look he gave.

“I’m happy you finally are in a relationship with a woman that gets you Dick but everytime you invited me out she was there and I’m not angry at that it just felt awkward because she doesn’t get the whole pda thing! Last time we was at your place having a movie night and it seemed like she was munching on you the whole time instead of the popcorn.”

Dick lets out an awkward sigh remembering that night. It was true. Kory was kissing up on him and giving him to much attention.

“I’m sorry about that…you should’ve said something-”

“You should’ve been able to tell, Detective.”

There was a pause between them as if they were allowing each other to process and think.

“you do look very…very gorgeous in that photo-” Dick confesses again studying Kam’s face.

“Just never thought you’d be into-”

“You have a girlfriend! A very beautiful one too-”

“I know-”

“So stop trying to fuck it up by being a playboy flirt-”

“Can you look at me, Kam? Please?” He asks ready to spill his guts. Kam trails her eyes up from the floor to look into his.

“I think I have feeling for you-”

Kam shook her head at him. “No!”

“Kam! I know you think this is an asshole move but I do-”

“Dickie this is how you fucked things up with your last girlfriend-”

“She wasn’t my girlfriend and she knew that-”

“Do you not care about Kory?”

“I do! I love Kory! I’m in love with Kory!”

“But you-”

“Believe I’m in love with you too-”

“You’re such an asshole, Dick.”

“I think she kinda has a crush on you too-”

Oh so what this is some weird fantasy scheme? You heard I am Bi from whoever and start plotting-”

Dick looked at her shocked before shaking his head. “You’re Bisexual? You never told me that!”

“I came out at the little get together M’gann hosted two weeks go….” She trails off realizing that this was the first he heard this.

“They were very accepting.” She adds.

Dick smiles glad to hear that she didn’t receive any backlash from coming out.

“Good. We have good friend.”

Kory, curious about why the two were still in the kitchen, made her way towards it. Was she worried about the two being alone? No! Dick told her plenty of stories about them growing up together as friends in the Wayne manor! Being trained by both Batman and Superman. She remembers him telling her how bummed he was when she had to go train with Diana on Themyscira, so she knew the connection ran deep between them, just didn’t expect to hear her boyfriend confess his feelings nor air out her business, but the cherry on top was Kam saying she was Bisexual. A term she learned when she came across a post on social media explaining sexuality. She herself felt like she was more pansexual than anything.

She clears her throat getting the attention of the two.

Kam turns seeing Kory. She gave an apologetic look to her. “You probably heard that— I’ll let you two talk.” Kam says, walking past Dick and shooting him a look silently telling him to beg for forgiveness and not ruin his relationship, but as she passes, Kory reaches out to stop her from leaving.

“Since we are confessing,” Kory says, glancing over at Dick, letting him know that she, in fact, heard his confession.

“I think…I think I’m in love with you too,” she says, tearing her eyes from Dick to look down at Kam. “Kam…” she adds to clarify.

Kam’s pretty eyes widen and her mouth gapes open slightly as she looks up at the alien princess that towers over her.

“You both are sick individuals! Fucking with me like this-”

Kory places a hand on Kam’s shoulder in reassurance “I have no reason to lie.”

“And you’re one of the only few I never lie to Kam. Though Kory’s confession is a bit of a surprise to me-”

“Ditto!” Kory cuts him off.

Kam looks between the two sensing the slight tension.

“Without even trying I’m fucking up a relationship-”

Dick looks from Kory to Kam before shaking his head. “Hey? No. No! You didn’t— it seems like Kory and I should’ve been communicating better about our feelings for people outside of our relationship…maybe if we did, we would’ve known it was towards the same person….”

“Well let’s communicate now.” Kory suggests crossing her arms over her chest.

“Right now? Kor-”

“Yes right now! I heard what you said Dick! But where does that leave us-”

Kam bit her lip, looking between the two, feeling like an odd, out-of-place character for such a scene. “I’m gonna give you guys privacy.”

“No! You’re apart of this-”

“Excuse me-”

Dick nodded, agreeing with Kory. “I confessed, and Kory confessed our feelings towards you! You’re a part of this!”

“Now wait a-”

The couple tore their gaze away from each other to look at Kamaria, who looked like she wished she could go ghost-like like ‘Danny Phantom’.

“What do you want me to say?” She asks awkwardly, tugging a strand of her Snow White hair out of her messy bun to nervously twirl it around her finger.

“That I had a crush on Dick since I was 15?….that I felt ‘Bi-panic’ for the first time ever when I saw Kory…with you, Dick? Fuck!…or maybe how I’m actually very jealous of you both…..this is so messy…” she says, feeling herself heat up with embarrassment.

“Is that what you want to hear?……There! Because I’m not repeating it!” She says pointing a finger at them both.

The couple looked appalled by the jumbled outburst before they looked over at each other silently communicating with their eyes before a stupid grin etched its way into both of their faces.
