because most often, these friendships are dropped (often completely, in ways they cannot be meaningfully continued) when one or more members of the groups finds a heterosexual romantic relationship and you so, SO often see that exact thing in real life

the heterosexual pairing means making your own (blood, nuclear) family which will always trump any other type of relationship. procreating and isolating the new family unit is more important than friendship or any other type of bonds and that’s such a hetero specific phenomenon?? so like i think beyond the basic disappointment of “these people who i thought were so important to each other bailed without a second though,” there’s also this added level of disappointment at the message being “oh but some bonds DO matter but only straight, romantic/sexual ones.”

a happy ending isn’t through living long with your friends AND having other relationships, it can ONLY be found their a heterosexual, likely procreative relationship.

and this is so much more obvious when the endgame het ship was like… not even a side story. a barely developed hetero relationship will represent happiness more than any potential friendship, even a lifelong one.

this is heteronormativity and specifically a white, western valuing of the nuclear family unit. the media i am criticizing would not include gay love or romance to even have a gay couple splinter off and fuck off from the friends.

gay love and gay sexuality is not prioritized or normalized over asexual, aromantic narratives or friendship, implying so with the word amatonormativity is straight up homophobic and inappropriate here.

the narratives i’m complaining about at least show friendship, they wouldn’t even dare show gay love.

so, again, this is heteronormativity *at the expense of friendships* and the implicit message of this post was that gay narratives would not do this because the idea of found family is much more important to us as an oppressed group who often feel closer to other LGBT people than our own blood families , even when we find our romantic partners. you making it about dumb ass ace/aro shit is detailing my post and isn’t welcome here.
