Back To Work
The DamJam-makers have finally emerged from their tedious winter hibernation!
We're brimming with enthusiasm at the prospect of this year's festival. The date is set for Saturday, July 27th. Â Just like last year, the 2013 Dam Jam will take place in Denmark, Maine, in beautiful Bicentennial Park. Â We're resurrecting last year's extremely popular beer garden, the kid's tent and adding some yummy food vendors. Apparently the lake is still there; don't forget your bathing suits!
Don't forget to check out our poster! This year's design is brought to you by Portland's finest, Eric Hou. Â His penchant for drawing witty critters in cute landscapes warmed our hearts and we can't wait to unveil the final illustration in the next few days. Â As for the bands, you lucky, lucky people have no idea what you're in for...Â
The Milkman's Union at the Dam Jam
Hide your daughters and your whiskey: the milkmen are back in town! Henry, Peter and Jeff have promised to grace our lineup in July with their irresistible rock, and we couldn't be gladder. If you don't know them yet, discover them here and count your lucky stars you live near Denmark...

Oh my goodness The Toughcats are confirmed!
Anyone who came to their show in 2010 knows how crazy Denmark is about The Toughcats. As a special treat, we are bringing them back this year to feature in the Big Dam Jam lineup. Back in 2010, their set was momentarily interrupted by a frolicsome bat who found its way into the theater from the attic. Let's see how they fare outdoors, in July.
Save The Date: 7/21/12
Denmark Arts Center is extremely proud to announce our first ever music festival: the Dam Jam 2012.
For the last three years, Denmark Arts Center has been luring the cream of the cream of Maine bands into its wooden vault for the enjoyment of locals, visitors and stragglers alike. This year, we are taking the music outside onto the acoustic lawns of Bicentennial Park. Six bands, one magician, and the folks at Bray's Brew Pub providing nosh and libations - could it get any better?
Save the date now because it's going to be amazing and it wouldn't be a party without YOU.
About our neck of the woods... Denmark is a dreamy town of 1,000 in Oxford County, Maine. Nestled up against the crystal waters of Moose Pond (a body of water roamed by the infamous moosemonster), Denmark has been described by successive visitors as "paradise on earth", "idyllic", and "where I want to live". Flanked by the dam, on one side and the arts center, on the other, Bicentennial Park will play host to our day of music.
About the Denmark Arts Center... Built as an Odd Fellows hall in the late 1800s and retaining all of its architectural glory, the DAC has been a focal point of Denmark's social scene for centuries. Lovingly restored in the 90s by a handful of residents, the DAC has kept locals dancing, theater-going, sheep-shearing, movie-watching and toe-tapping ever since.
