Anyway, hiya I'm Egg (they/ey/it) and I'm here now. I'm neurodivergent (adhd) and I'm nonbinary (agender, if you know that term). I draw and sometimes I paint and sometimes I draw digitally, but I'm still working on that. I want to make comics for my ocs' stories, and I like color
If you ask me, coloring traditionally is a pain sometimes, gouache and acrylic markers are very cool, scrapbooking style collages feed my soul, crafting is fantastic, and drawing with graphite is occasionally the best thing that exists
I keep my sketchbooks like diaries/scrapbooks and it's really fun
I like yellow, the stars, flowers, spring- & summer rain, winter, fall colors, illustrations and stories, the consept of spiderman, music, baggy clothes, crochet, ice tea, orange chocolate, cats, otters, and foxes
I am here to vibe and have fun putting my thoughts and art somewhere for me and anyone who wants to vibe with me

Seen a couple posts on the dashboard lately about writing with ADHD. So, for the ADHD and neurodivergent folks who like writing but struggle sometimes… check out StimuWrite.
You can set it to make little sounds as you type (or leave them off), and emojis pop up in the corner. You can change the background, dark and light themes, set your word goal, and it gives you a percentage and total word count at the bottom. Though it’s more meant for getting a draft written up, so it doesn’t have spell check or anything like that. You’re meant to just copy and past what you write here into Google Docs or Word or Scrivener or whatever else you use and go from there. Honestly love it when I’m struggling to get words down, though. And apparently there’s an update now for StimuWrite 2?👀

Rewatching mha s1 and im so confused bc wtf do you mean Katsuki Bakugo might be a comfort character for me????? 5 minutes ago I was ready to actually murder him. His and Midoriyas' relationship mirrors a lot of friendships I had growing up, and I was not Bakugo in those. So why, WHY, would I ever feel any comfort from him wtf???????
Reading Maus for a school assignment and im sat here shaking bro. I'm sitting cozied up with a blanket, medicated so I can actually read efficiently, and i admit my meds might be helping the shaking along but I can FEEL MY HEART. I could feel it yesterday too when I was reading without my meds, just not quite as bad.
I'm just shaken. Shooketh. Both of the story and of how it's told. Some books makes you question why literature is so important to us as a species, but some works really make me understand that and this is one of those works.
I'm also really impressed with these illustrations being so respected by the wider public as for the book to win prizes when graphic novels weren't really around. Like, I respect the drawings. I respect them so much. I draw, I know the time and effort and years of practice and the precise penmanship that must've gone into achieving such an end result, but I'm so happy it's not been disregarded as just a comic. It really, truely, lights hope in my heart for people respect art even if it isn't fine art for example.
Im also so baffled at what we manage to do sometimes, the art we create and the knowledge we can record and the languages we speak and write into existence. We do so much dumb and useless and vile beyond words shit and I don't even entirely identify with the label human, but holy shit, sometimes I do understand how we managed to build a civilization like this.

Don't you sometimes get an absolutely extrodinary, mind blowing, such an awesome idea for a story, but you just don't have enough skill level to pull it off?
Write it anyway, write it anyway, write it anyway.
There are so, so, so many reasons:
You gain that skill level only through practice. So practice.
No matter what you’re writing, no matter how badly you think you’ve written it, there is ALWAYS some audience that will love it and cherish it.
You can use what you write the first time around as a first draft and just rewrite it again later when you feel like tackling the story again!
Rewriting the same story over and over is a valid writing process. It’s literally just creating new drafts. Each iteration will be better than the last, because each is building on your growing skill and experience.
If you love the story, it will always be worth telling simply for your own enjoyment. If no one else ever sees it, that’s okay! Your art should be for you first, anyway.

Please never forget that ēheu, what the background chorus is repeating in Pompeii, just means ‘alas’ or ‘oh no’ or perhaps ‘shucks’ in Latin, which is of course the correct response to realizing you’re right next to where a volcano is exploding.
It's absolutely crazy that intellectual labor can wipe you out. It seems like it shouldn't be a thing, like your stores of brain juice shouldn't be able to be depleted in that way.
I feel like a wizard that's out of spell slots, and to me that's a hackish mechanical limitation put in place to try to balance the classes.

Your brain is an incredibly energy-intensive organ. It makes up approximately 2% of your total body mass, but at rest it's using 22% of your total energy intake. The only thing that uses the same percentage of energy is all of your skeletal muscle (which is about 40% of your total body mass), with the liver (about 2.6% of your total mass) close behind at 21% (Aragon et al, 2017).
And that's how much energy it's using at rest.
That's the baseline.
So if you're doing lots of intellectual labour, your brain - which already has disproportionately huge energy demand - is going to use even more energy to keep up with the work. That's why you feel so wiped/drained/like you're out of spell slots after high intellectual demand - because your brain is an organ, and you've just done a lot of high-energy work with a high-energy organ.
I find it forever fascinating how stupid a very smart person's brain can become once it's out of spell slots. It's deeply unfair that out society underestimates this effect and treats "intelligence" as a permanent trait.
