Karai's story in TMNT 2003 is one of the deepest character arcs in the series, built entirely on a code of honor she inherited from a man who lied to her about everything. This video traces her journey from orphaned street kid to Foot Clan leader, her uneasy alliance with Leonardo, her descent into becoming the Shredder herself, and the test that finally revealed whose values she was really living by.

Ninjara is an anthropomorphic fox ninja who became Raphael's first love. Her creation started with a letter in the comic's own pages, and her story covers everything from a debut as a hired assassin in Japan to a slow-burn relationship, a heartbreaking breakup, and a decades-long fight to bring her back into the franchise.

Big Mama is one of Rise of the TMNT's most distinctive villains, and she's built on a very real piece of Japanese folklore: the Jorogumo, a spider spirit who lures in prey with beauty. In this video, we break down exactly where the myth ends and the character begins, tracing how her design as a villain, her relationship with Splinter, and her domain in the Hidden City all draw from centuries-old Yokai legend. We also look at what the show changed, what it kept, and what Big Mama's original story arc might have looked like if Rise hadn't been cut short.

Venus de Milo, who made her debut in Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, had a very complicated story. Her creation came out of a difficult negotiation between Mirage Studios and Saban Entertainment, and her eventual disappearance from the franchise had just as much to do with behind-the-scenes conflict as it did with ratings.

This ending also doesn't know what to make of those dudes, but it is something!
