Cross Guild Polycule prompt: Buggy, Mihawk, and Crocodile go to this high end resort island for a huge business deal. The stakes are high and the secret romantic yearning and tension between the three of them is even higher. Buggy plays his part brilliantly with Crocodile and Mihawn backing him up. The deal goes through and the island hosts throw this massive celebratory dinner. The good booze flow and everyone goes nuts. When morning comes, Buggy, Mihawk, and Crocodile wake up not only hung over but tangled together and very, very naked, and when the fog clears a little, they three of them are stunned to see that they are all wearing matching rings and very very legally married. They have no recollection of how they ended up in wedded bliss, but secretly all three of them are absolutely thrilled. They all but on a good show of panicking but the island rules place a very string time period before a divorce can even be filed. The trio head back to Karai Bari and have to deal with being each others' husbands. While putting on the air of being put upon, all three start to do husbandy things, like bringing each other meals and enjoying them, ironing shirts, and being super possessive whenever they catch anyone eying any of their husbands. They are so stupidly in love a blind man can see, but they'd rather face a buster call than actually say anything.
That is definitely one way to wake from in the morning after celebrating a good deal the night before. How much alcohol did they drink?! Or was that the drinks was really high with alcohol content? Heehee
I don’t know about Crocodile, but I feel like Buggy and Mihawk have high alcohol tolerance (one because we see him drinking wine a lot…
I think I might be misremembering. The other is just cuz it would be funny if Buggy could out drink people four-times his size for the shits ‘n’ giggles of it) I want to take it a step further where the room they woke up in together is a upgrade room the trio’s drunk selves brought after getting legally married by priest or courtroom.
Their upgraded room is a honeymoon suite.
All their stuff is in there, so it was even more confusing to their minds as they tried puzzling things back together from the night before.
(So many ideas on how Buggy, Mihawk, and Crocodile drunkenly decided to marry each other! Honestly I can see drunk Buggy spill that he likes Mihawk and Crocodile to the former Warlords. It spirals from there) I’m thinking on what type of business deal would they have with the islanders. Maybe it’s dealing with materials that only grow or made on the high resort island? My thoughts are fabric material or building materials.
[Side Note: Sorry the next part will take a bit from asking your ask]
I want to try worldbuilding the high-end resort island! Feeling like this place is actually an four island archipelago. When spoken about the isles, they are called Los Surpière, which is the name of the largest one.
It kind of over-shadows the other three island (Amorra, Lumi, and Monter), which aren’t high resort islands, maybe some hotels.
But these islands are more merchant ports, areas where the locals live, and biomes like shrubland and woodlands. Los Surpière is the one with beach sands. Although those beach parts are faced away from the other islands in the archipelago. And the resort that Cross Guild leaders (plus the inner cycle and mercenaries maybe?) are staying at is the Coeupen Resort, which is basically the resort that’s monopolizing the island and beating out the other resorts (… I don’t know nor care about what to call those resorts…)
Los Surpière - Los was taken from Los Angeles, the reason for this… just because Surpière felt lacking on it’s own and started looking at U.S.A cities like Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Key West, etc… which are considered resort places. (My only reason I decided on U.S.A. resort cities is because of thinking about Franky and him powered by Cola and was like what about American-style resort island? Because drinking until blackout drunk and waking up married to your shitty co-workers seems like something people could and maybe have done already in our resort cities) Anyway, I chose ‘Los’ from Los Angeles. It also inspired the biomes of these islands.
The name ‘Surpière’ comes from the words - Surprise and Lumière: A French word for ‘light’ - Choosing these for showcase what type of island that Los Surpière is. An island with lots of lights, it’s so bright at times. There are surprises in every corner, whether good, neutral, or bad.
How for the name Coeupen comes form the words - Coeur: A French word for ‘heart’ and Open - Choosing these just because it’s a nod to this prompt/AU’s Cross Guild trio. They got their hearts open to each other.
[Now going back to the prompt] Once the trio found out that there is a window of time they need to stay married before getting a divorce.
The plan was to keep everything under-wraps that they are married and only talk to the higher-ups at the resort. Unfortunately for them some of the Cross Guild’s inner circle found out about it and the trio has to contain their freakout so Buggy’s followers don’t find out about it…
Because HELL would break loose and then they have to deal with the fallout. Crocodile, Buggy, and Mihawk don’t want that to happen. So they are very happy when things stay under-wraps as they got back to Karai Bari Island and all three are saying they can’t wait to be divorce to their inner circle, but then they go and act like a married couple in love.
Sir Crocodile says that he’ll keep checking with the island about when is the best time to come back and file divorce papers…
Newsflash he doesn’t. He became a bit more on lenient Mihawk and Buggy’s lateness to things or gently reminds them of things when he thinks they forgot about it.
Telling Daz Bones to get Buggy and Mihawk things like food or drinks when they are working or when he thinks they are working.
Taking the time to tell the swordsman and clown more about the things he's doing for the mercenary company (Is it considered a mercenary company even though their chairman is a pirate?) and asking them more and more for their opinions in deals and etc... Bit by bit, with some set-backs every once in while, Crocodile trusts Mihawk and Buggy more and from there learning to trust the people around them.
(even if it’s only the inner circle and the other people that are in charge of keeping things running) Dude finally goes to be bed at a reasonable time, not staying up late because he doesn’t trust anyone underneath wouldn’t mess up his work. His husbands also just want him to be healthier on his body and for that the sandman needs to sleep well.
Now Mihawk, just like Crocodile, he listens more to what Crocodile and Buggy are saying about Cross Guild. Becoming more active in the company, not just doing nightly/daily patrols around Karai Bari Island.
Choosing to spend most of his work time looking over the farming, training people, and guarding portions of Cross Guild while Buggy’s moral support of the people, making weapons for the mercenaries and Crocodile does the administration. He still doesn’t like being the one that interacts with guests, traders, and others. Buggy and Crocodile understand this before they got married, so they never pushed him to do it and they won’t start now. If anything, they will informed him about people wanting deals and trades. Telling Mihawk that if he wants he can tag along during the meeting or they’ll the guest the people that he’s working hard to protect the island while he chills.
We know that Mihawk is a good cook, so he’ll be cooking meals for Crocodile and Buggy more often. I can see Mihawk cooking meals for Buggy and Crocodile separately beforehand once in a while. I like to think both Crocodile and Buggy will help with prepping. Crocodile can make more simple meals while Buggy is a hit-or-miss if things will go well when he cooks.
Lastly for Buggy, the clown throughout how long that the Cross Guild trio learnt to care more about each other that when he was looking through treasures, that he sees gems and shinys that he thinks Crocodile and Mihawk would enjoy, just like Buggy does for his pirate crew. Now as the trio is married, Buggy starts picking out treasure on a more bigger scale than he does for his inner circle. Also noting that he does this with other things like rocks, trinkets, etc... Buggy’s like a penguin or a crow.
Another I like to hc that Buggy has 50/50 on if he doesn’t set water on fire when he’s cooking, then he’s much better at baking because it will confused people. Cuz someone gonna be like ‘You bake well, but you can’t cook well?!’ then Buggy be like ‘Yeah?! WHAT ABOUT THAT SHITIDIOT!!!’ and the clown just rants (refuses to call it venting), cussing the person out.
With his baking skills, Buggy making treats that Mihawk and Crocodile likes during their work time when the clown nabs free time and is thinking about baking or treats to have when the two come back to their tents later in the day. Mihawk sometimes helps Buggy when he’s free around the same time that the clown is and if Buggy’s planning on baking anything that day.
That’s what I thought up for what the trio may do differently now.
I don’t think it would be abrupt transition from how they were acting before waking up with a hangover and realizing they were married.
Of course, there is must be some hints that could be seen by others before the deal trip to Los Surpière (I don’t particularly like a fast-burn enemies-to-lovers. I like it when the story takes its time to flesh out their love blooming unless it's stated in the story/fic that we’re seeing the latter half or one-third of enemies-to-lovers falling in-love with each other)
There's gonna be hiccups along the way to a healthy relationship.
Their past of being technically enemies (not that the world and most of their company knows) Buggy's debt needs to be addressed. How Mihawk, Crocodile, and Buggy treat each other. Crocodile is going to struggle with being too distrustful or his violent temper shows in words. Mihawk is gonna struggled with not shutting himself away from others to unhealthy degree or lacking empathy to the struggles of others. And Buggy struggling with being too cowardice and his insecurities causes the clown to falter and fail when people know he should successful because he's done the same thing before.
One thing that makes me giggle about this prompt situation is if readers viewed this story in the eyes of the inner circle of Cross Guild because oh boy. It’s either one of them that knows the trio got married because Buggy would definitely freakout (you know the clown is shrieking, over thinking what was happening, and was a ball of nervousness), got told before they were hushed into the silence, or someone that picked up on clues and put things to together. The Cross Guild polycule may believe they’re doing well and nobody could see that they’re together. They can fool the mercenaries and grunts that don't truly know their personalities, but that doesn't mean they can fool people that work closely with them.
That's all I have! This was fun to read and fun to respond too.
