On the Betrayal of House Atreides
In any story that has any amount of great tragedy, I always express some modicum of sorrow, but then ponder to myself the scope of the event in larger cases where it defines the entire scope of the story such as in dune where should the traitor not turned out as such we would likely have had a story of Paul Atreides finding his way into that of a proper ruler, navigating the precarious politics and fending off the schemes of the Harkonnens. While this is still quite an interesting turn of events, it would most certainly mean a completely different lens that completely averts the messiah figure he can no longer become atop his golden throne rather than the spear and spice of the Freman people, and thus I must accept that these events must come to pass one way or another, if not by some victim of attachment they might be of prepared sabotage, or rogue Freman. Whatever the case the event in question matters less than the resulting calamities.
This is the joke I sacrificed my sleep schedule for it is unbelievably daft and utterly incomprehensible, to be clear these are a villain team and an antihero team opposing each other, see if you can decipher even a hint of the humor.
Ramblings of a mad god, you feed dreams of the endless fractals of beings of our own creation doubtlessly creators of our own destruction.

The Arcanus Eternum
Long has it been since mages had first gained dominion over death through however blasphemous methods a form of extended nigh-undying existence can be achieved through mastery of each school of magic. Below are 12 forms of immortality.
1st The Sloth - âLich" Restoration
The 'traditional' lich, no longer wishing to bother with the wastes of life. Indeed, a lich rarely worries about being destroyed, as its phylactery will always return it, so why should it bother? Using this time it can raise endless hordes of undead and can plot revenge on its own time, on its slayerâs progeny. A lich hides its original death within a phylactery, a magical container that if destroyed also destroys the lich.
2nd The Ignorance - "The Echo" Alteration
Preventing their death through sheer denial like that of a revenant, Through their mastery They achieve immortality by simply replacing or duplicating their body and can only be destroyed should every last one be as such.
3rd The Cowardice - âThe Gespenâ Conjuration
A Tulpa exists its own bastion of a demiplane where the effects of time simply do not apply. Many of them have contingency planes to escape to should anyone someone get past their hordes of monsters which the Gespen uses as proxies to do their bidding on other realms to maintain their eternal youth. Should a Gespen be killed their body instantly teleports to an aforementioned contingency plane where it regenerates with the help of a familiar. However this leaves the obvious vulnerability of simply targeting the familiar, which is easier said than done.
4th The Lust - âThe Regaia" Enchantment
The Regaia lives through others, devouring their soul and replacing it with their own, it is possible for them to control multiple people through splitting conscious, however this will result in a weaker grip on the respective hosts. To defy death the Regaia keeps a sliver of their soul in a comatose husk in which their entire being may be transferred to in the case of termination.
5th The Gluttony - âSargâ Abjuration
A Sarg is completely incorporeal as it exists in a separate and overlapping plane and interacts with the world through telekinesis. Sargs may shift matter in and out of their plane with only them knowing how. To sustain themselves they require souls that they feast endlessly on the one crossing to the afterlife In the event that they are somehow destroyed. They are resuscitated by a repository of their spirit which serves as a phylactery.
6th The Avarice - "The Gilded" Transmutation
Using transmutation a Gilded slowing turns their flesh to steel or any other such material immune to the ravages of time. They must consume other souls for sustenance as their lack of biology fails to do so. In the event of destruction the soul is transferred to a new metallic body and rises soon after. These bodies must have once been biological, usually taken from their victims and transmuted in the same process save for the lack of a soul living an empty vessel.
7th The Envy- "The Cancer"Â Transformation
8th The Wrath - âMakt" Evocation
A powerful soul contained bound to bones encased within elemental and elemental shell. A Makt has mastered healing their golem form to such degree that destroying it is nigh impossible. As such it is reckless, destructive, and will often do more damage to itself than its victims can manage themselves. By eliminating their weakness of flesh and mortality, granting themself incredible regeneration while its bones remain intact. Like other common liches, they still share the quality of requiring souls for fuel. The Makt is almost entirely unkillable with their sole weakness being the enchanted bones that bind them to their form.
9th The Malice - âRemnant" Construction
A Remnant has a nigh-endless supply of enslaved constructs having their bodies turned against them through machine puppets the hapless victims can only watch and lament their horrid fate, the immortality of a remnant is thus to subsist off the suffering of their slaves which also induces great susceptibility to possession
10th The Pride - "Saklepa"
A Saklepa achieves immortality by bypassing aging through transferring the effects of time to a phylactery. To circumvent the problem of both the phylactery and, thus themselves turning to dust. A Saklepa will siphon youth, the longer the potential life they consume the more time they get. In the event of their death, they send their consciousness back in time in an attempt to avoid death, They cannot transfer again until the moment of their previous death, which is one of the two ways of destroying one; the other being the usual of destroying the phylactery and aging the Saklepa to oblivion.
11th The Corruption - âTulpa"
A âminor planeâ slowly growing and consuming other realities so that the Illusion Creatureâs self can manifest indefinitely. It is sustained by the belief of other not unlike a god. Its bodies are simply simulacrums, and its realm is cold and manipulative. An information hoarder, like a living library or index. Mirrored surfaces are abound so the creature may gaze at itself always. The Tulpa hides the truth of its original death under multiple layers of illusions. Souls lost within the Tulpa become its nourishment, but it feeds best on a life lived within the belief of its reality. Destruction of a Tulpa can only be achieved by unraveling their web of lies and deceit.
12th The Despair - âHadrach"
A person who has removed themselves from time by sheer degree of prescience, witnessing the extent of time and reality around it, understanding in full the suffering of existence. The Despair sees and knows all, and must simply follow the path that keeps it immortal. As long as it has a divide in the road, it can take the deathless path. It spends it's time scrying the circumstances of possible death. Particularly powerful Hadrachs may leave an impression of their being using their knowledge of the future. Unlike most Liches it does not require souls by definition however to cross paths with one is to become entangled in its machinations. However a Hadrach is never truly undying for their path always must end at one point. Forcing it into a "dead" end is the only way to reliably eliminate one.

The Capstone Ritual
By Emperor Tetron Ponzi
1. Premise
It has been discovered that single Soul may be split into 7 shards at most without fracture, revealed by the Dark Lich Molyvort after shattering his very being upon attempting the creation of a seventh Phylactery.
Thus with the limit established, a simple ritual for nigh-unlimited power can be extrapolated based on the premise 1 Soul equals 7 Shards.
2. Ritual
Participants in the ritual include:
1 Overprime
7 Primes
7^n Composites
The simplicity of the ritual is its ability to preformed ad infinitum, exponentially increasing power of all participants with every successive cycle.
The ritual is preformed on the basis that Factors Receive and Dividends of them gift.
The Primary Cycle begins with the Overprime as First Factor who is granted 1 shard from each of the 7 Primes assuming Dividend, forming an Octet. Each Dividend granting 1 shard to their factor leaving each prime with 6 remaining shards.
The Secondary Cycle has the 7 Primes then assume the role of Factor are each granted 1 shard each from 7 First Composites each who become their Dividends returning each Prime to 7 Shards with 6 shards surplus.
The Primes are granted 3 shards of the surplus and 2 shards are given to their Factor and 1 shard is granted to the Overprime. As Primes are the first Dividends 3 shards go the the First Factor
The Tertiary Cycle has the Composites then assume the role of factor and repeat the process with 7 Dividends each gaining 3 shards with 2 shards each given to their factors; the Prime and 1 shard each granted to the Overprime
The Fourth cycle repeats the ritual with Second Composites factoring from Third composites and First composites gaining 2 shards each
Successive cycles increase power further as Factors hold shards over Dividends which hold shards over lesser Dividends
As 1 soul consists of 7 shards total the First Cycle may start once again forming a successive Octet consisting partially if not completely of members in previous Cycles.
3. Pyramid Hierarchy
Hierarchy in the Pyramid Titles consisting of Rank which is based on Cycle seniority as well as Tier being number of cycles participated in.
Ranks are as follows:
1. Overprime
2. Prime
3. First Composite
4. Second Composite
5. Third Composite etc.
Tiers are as follows:
7. Adamance
6. Titan
5. Platinum
4. Gold
3. Silver
2. Bronze
1. Copper
They also correspond to days of the week on call.
So a participant in Fourth Cycle and in 4 more subsequent cycles has the title of Second Platinum.
The Overprime is ranked simply as Emperor and the Primes are titled numerically based on total dividends
4. Alternate Models
While in a Monarchy there exists a single Overprime there are alternative models with double or triple Overprimes each being Factor and Dividend for each of their counterparts.
These Duumvirate and Triumvirate models would likely be quite unstable as Overprimes may seek the destruction of their rival in order to acquire dominion over their Shards.
While Tetrarchy, Pentarchy, and Hexarchy models may be more stable due to division of power they are still in danger of collapsing due to Overprimes allying to do much the same, decreasing the total amount and leading to an even more precarious position.
However the most stable of these modules of are course the most dangerous and least practical.
The Titanomachy model has all 7 Overprimes in possession of a Shard from each Overprime with the Final shards taken from a single Sacrificial Soul. This combination of shards resulting in a Nigh-Gestalt Entity processing 7 Vessels.
Taking this to this extreme is the Octal Singularity where the 8 Overprimes are only defined by the Shard that they do not possess.
Paper currency invented due to a Dragon wanting to hoard all the gold using fiat currency to run the Economy to find more gold. Other dragons soon do the same leading to a plethora of differing banknotes which are worthless to the dragon that created them only.

Biting into a chicken wing at the airport lounge pondering the ceaseless slaughter of billions, one day nature will have its reckoning.
I want a story about a king whose son is prophesied to kill him so the king is like âwhatever what am I supposed to do, kill my own kid wtf is wrong with youâ so he just raises him as normal, doesnât even tell him about the prophecy, and instead of some convoluted twist of events that leads to the kingâs murder the son grows up and when the king is very old and dying and in excruciating pain the kid is just like alright I'mma put him out of his misery.
The kingâs son becomes the new king, and is prophesied to defeat evil and bring an age of prosperity. His generals and knights all crack their knuckles but he pretty much ignores them and focuses on strengthening the infrastructure of his kingdom. Forty years later he is old and sick but still hearing his subjectsâ grievances, and a generalâs like âhow will you defeat the prophesied evil now? Youâre old and weak.â Another visitor, a teenager fresh out of the kingdomâs public education system, looks at the general like he is an ignoramus. The king eradicated poverty, housed the homeless, taught the ignorant, ended class exploitation by abolishing the nobility and imprisoning the corrupt, and established a highly respected guild of doctors that recently figured out how to cure the plague. There are no brigands because there is enough wealth for everyone to live comfortably; hiding in the woods and taking trinkets from people simply doesnât make any sense for anyone but the desperate, and the people are not desperate. Evil is a weed, explains the teenager. It grows in cracked roads and crumbling houses and forgotten corners, rooted in indifference and watered by suffering. But the king demands that broken things be mended and suffering people be made well.
No evil lives in this kingdom, says the teenager. It starved to death before I was born.
Oh yes.
Ah yes the most fantastical thing of all adequate infrastructure and education.
