Finally watched bits of the assembly unseen (THANK YOU FREE VPN), and theres one bit where a lady asks David on how to deal with negative comments online and stuff, and he responded with like "they're all stupid buggers in their rooms". Doctor Who finale (spoilers)

Ok the writing of this was absolute shit. adding onto what I said in my last post, Belinda was done so dirty and it makes NO Narrative sense for her to go from "Take me home Doctor enough with the bullshit" to "Oh my gosh I'm so happy to be with the Doctor and we have a child, yay! :D" Like??? No? Episode 1 Belinda would have been *horrified* she would have thought the absolute worse of the Doctor, this is such bad writing And the wish world stuff, it had potential but no RTD literally said "Forcing women into a motherhood role bad" and "let's turn this independent, strong female character into a 50s housewife who enjoys it" in the same fucking breath. What? No. That makes no sense And I did notice that near the end there, Mel was suddenly in another location? Also how the fuck do you just forget Rose Noble when she's literally the Doctor's best friend's daughter??? I've always loved Doctor Who but this season has just been really fucking disappointing, it started off great and I loved the Midnight sequel but now it's just shit and ugh Not only that, while I loved Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, it's not fair to Ncuti Gatwa to make him regenerate into a straight white woman after he only gets what, 17 episodes? Gatwa didn't even get to fight the daleks or the cybermen, he barely got anything for himself at all. ANd the whole parental thing and wanting to be Belinda's protector and suddenly wanting to be her husband and have a daughter despite the fact that he started off FRUITY AS FUCK???

It makes absolutely no fucking sense. The writing is absolute shit. RTD brought back Doctor Who in 2005, yes, thank you for that. But now he needs to step aside and let someone else take the reins because all he is doing is throwing nostalgia bait and basically being sexist and racist in his writing despite being a gay man himself who actually tried to include queerness in his writing. Anyway this post has become an essay but if you've made it to the end, well done have a cookie. I'm starting to think Eccleston was right about firing RTD

Look I'm sorry but Belinda going from an intriguing contrast to Ncuti's energy to kind of just hanging around in the background of episodes to being super devoted to the Doctor without building to that to being outshined by her predecessor to whatever the hell the finale was going on is some of the worst mishandling of a companion I have ever seen Doctor Who do

I don't think Yaz was this badly handled! Hers is just a lot more frustrating as it's over several years not one

Varada Sethu had such a warm grounding energy yet felt like someone holding back a lot of pathos and I felt that was really needed where Millie was more girly BFF to The Doctor-I liked having a Tegan-esque reluctant companion again and it's just. Nada they don't take advantage of this at all

t's incredibly disappointing to such a promising companion and she's only here for one series!

I hate how Bill similarly got shafted over popping into a regeneration series but her character was given a HELL of a lot more grace! Plus four more eps to flesh her out admittedly

Yeah really thinking the episode count is truly killing this show I'd happily trade the budget for more eps

You know… when this season started I was really excited to have a companion that seemingly was not afraid to tell the Doctor off but apart from her introduction Belinda has unfortunately been maybe? the most absolute doormat of a companion I think we have ever gotten? and Wow! what an accomplishment for a show that’s been on TV for sixty years! Belinda witnesses the Doctor torturing Kid in Interstellar Song Contest and gives him what would generously be called a slap on the wrist! She gets fucking shot in the heart and is like?? COMPLETELY OVER IT BY THE NEXT EPISODE?? hello? she is forced to live in a false reality in which she has a child with the man who kidnapped her, and for some reason? is not horrified by this absolute nightmare? and on top of all of this!!!?? when presented with the perfect opportunity to perhaps show some shred of consistency for her character, they instead show her not caring even a little AT ALLL that the Doctor is doing to her child what she reprimanded him for doing to her in her introductory episode? truly a master class in dropping the ball!
