A year into a being a certified plant people™️ and my roommate and I just had our first pest infestation😭 spider mites and possibly mealy bugs got to all of our monsteras and one of my calatheas. Mostly feel stupid we didn’t do something sooner bc we were like hmm this leaf damage doesn’t look like root rot? But never looked at the leaves up close?? Have sexy plant juice sprayed and systemic granuled all affected plants and plants nearby, but oof.
Used it as an excuse to finally axe my monstera I didn’t like and to cut my round leaf calathea back to the soil like I saw someone on reddit do to see if the leaves grow back healthy (I got her from Trader Joe’s so she was in rough shape to begin with).
My maranta is simultaneously flowering and looks like it may be impacted so it’s in isolation until I deal with my philodendrons that were next to it tomorrow but honestly those ones look perfect.
Luckily my FAVORITE plant my calathea white star calla looks unscathed, but I gave her systemic granules and will sexy plant juice spray her tomorrow just to be safe. If anything happens to her I have the right to kill everyone and then myself. Like look how pretty she is! This photo is from a month ago and she’s grown three new leaves since!
