She sighed contentedly, folding her hands atop her stomach, her legs hanging off the side of the bed. “…good. I wouldn’t have it any other way.” She smiled, the action slow but genuine. Her feelings for the man grew more and more with each passing tick tock of the clock in the corner.

Fillan reaches for thew doorknob, unaware that there is anyone at all inside of the room. Turning the knob all the way, he pushes the door until it opens. "Oh, I um..." Had he just walked in on a soldier undressing?

Richard's body tensed up as he heard the sudden opening of the door, stopping midway as he got rid of his shirt, letting it stay in his arms as he quickly took a look back over his shoulder. "Hum-" he then muttered but with a bit of delay, the younger boy having already slammed the door close when he grasped what had just happened. "..." who the hell was that?

He didn't realize how deep his feelings were however or at least not yet. He hummed softly as she requested for him to come closer and he rose from his knee, taking the musket from his back and making it lean against the frame of the bed before he sat besides her, his ice blue eyes meeting with hers.

She stared into his eyes to search for what it was that he wanted to say, finding his silent confession much like hers. He wanted her and she wanted him. It was plain and simple, but there was so much emotion, affection, and conviction behind it. She felt her cheeks heating up again with each stroke of his thumbs. Light fingers traced down to his neck, holding him there as she teared up and finally broke eye contact.

She let out a soft sob, pressing herself into his chest, sliding her hands down to curl into the lapel of his uniform, smiling at nothing. “…I know…I know…y-you don’t have to say anything…I…I know..” She choked out, her feelings wracking through her and tearing her in two. She could never be whole again. Not without him.

He moved his arms out of the way, letting her wrap herself around him as he grew worried for he had seen her sob but not smile since she had done so with her face hidden against his chest. The fact her hands wrapped and tugged at the back of his uniform were not a good sign either and for a moment he thought maybe he had done something wrong after all. There was just so much doubt and confusion inside him at the moment.

"Hey-" he called softly, guiding his hands to her arms and taking a light and comforting hold of them as he puled her back just a bit to look at her, try to figure out why she was crying. "Mer, sweetheart, are you alright-?"

She blinked as he took hold of her and held her. She stared into his eyes, listening to his confession, one that was so soft it was as though she were hearing it inside her mind rather than from his lips. Her hand found the fish pendent and she clutched it tightly.

I do fell the same.

He had said those words. She wasn’t dreaming. She wasn’t pretending. She let the pendent go and cupped his cheeks, pulling him for a heated kiss, desperate and tender, one that spoke volumes more than she could, of her affections towards him, her thoughts, her feelings, the love bubbling up in her heart. She could name the moment she had fallen. It was when they were sitting on the couch and their hands had accidentally touched as they ate breakfast. The soft silence that embraced them both and brought them closer.

This time, his arms wrapped around her waist into a hug without hesitation, his hands pressing against her back in a comforting way as their lips meet. He closed his eyes and allowed her to kiss him as he kissed her back in just the same manner, his heart skipping a beat as the thoughts in his head exploded and filled it to it's most deepest corners. She had been in his thoughts all along since that day as well and even though he did not realize he felt for her as quick as maybe he should have he did knew he couldn't keep on denying himself this feelings existed. At least not now that he knew she felt the same because now he had nothing to fear, be it to loose her friendship or make a fool of himself.

"Mer..." he muttered, his voice low and soft as the kiss broke and he guided his hands up to cup her face, thumbs caressing over her cheeks as his own grew warmer. God. He didn't really knew what to do now. He had never been wise in the ways of love but one thing he knew and that was he wouldn't let her escape like sand in between his fingers. "I just...." he then added but even though he had tried to say something more he really was at a loss of words and with a sigh, a small smile reaching his lips, he leaned in closer and kissed her forehead, joining his own with hers afterwards, their gazes locking. Maybe his gaze would tell her more than his words could ever manage to.

“It’s alright…” She smiled weakly, her eyes having gone a bit sad as she watched him. Did he not feel the same? She was sure there was something there- the necklace, the blushing, the constant need to call her M’am-. She suddenly realized he was just being very polite and took a step back from him, holding her own cheek as she shook her head. “I-I’m sorry…I…I should have known you did not feel the same…”

She turned away from him and knelt to pick up the book, her heart sinking n her chest. “…I’ll just…er…clean up here…ha…so embarrassing-” She muttered to herself, trying desperately not to cry.

Oh, no. Now he really had done it hadn't he? His father sure had taught him to never be so afraid to speak with a women, specially one he liked or loved but that had been one of the only teachings he had a hard time following. It was not his fault he just felt nervous around them and ended up shocking up on his words and not saying anything in the end but this time he really had done it. He could hear the pain in her voice and that made his own heart sink as well, pushing him to try to amend all that as quickly as he could manage to.

"No!" he said, his voice more firm as he stepped ahead and carefully took a hold of her arm, pulling her to turn around and face him again as he took a deep breath. "You are wrong, Mer-" followed and his gaze became a bit pained, just as if he was a kicked puppy or even worse, one that knew had done something wrong and was regretful about it. "I am the one who has to apologize here because, I do- I do really like you back- I do feel the same."
