A thing that is often forgotten is that Viktor isn't just a techmaturgist / engineer in a magical Runeterra where he pits his technology against physical prowess and magic.

First and foremost he pits his technology against other technology of Zaun and Piltover.

He arose as a creator competing against other engineers in his area and his first tier of comparison is against other technological solutions to problems. He studied in this field, he didn't invent batteries or lasers or (dare I say) prosthetics either, but his approach to these inventions was novel and what he created was so much more advanced than what else existed that he gained infamy as the Machine Herald.

I can imagine Viktor in front of a computer, programming a new machine for hours only for the whole thing to not compile and fail. Oooooo that upsets me, I can only imagine how Viktor would feel, hours of work for it to not function properly because of a spelling error lol.
