Season's greetings from The Beatles (x)
On July 6th, 1957, John Lennon met Paul McCartney. And the rest is history.
“We were four guys. I met Paul and said, “You want to join me band?” Then George joined. And then Ringo joined. We were just a band that made it very, very big, that’s all.”

A Hard Day’s Night (1964) dir. Richard Lester
“I absolutely did believe - as millions of others did - that the friendship the Beatles had for each other was a lifesaver for all of us. I believed that if these people were happy with each other… life was worth living.
But we expected too much of them.”

I’m Down (The Beatles at Shea Stadium | August 15th, 1965)
He’s a real nowhere man Sitting in his nowhere land Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
the concept of vinyl records will never cease to amaze me like they put SOUND in there!!!!!!! what the hell and fuck
“Mum and Dot were there, keeping an eye on me, and I was grateful not to be alone. But apart from them I saw or heard from hardly another soul. It seemed that John had cut me off not just from him but from the whole Beatles family. The only person who came to see me was Paul. He arrived one sunny afternoon, bearing a red rose, and said, ‘I’m so sorry, Cyn, I don’t know what’s come over him. This isn’t right.’ On the way down to see us he had written a song for Julian. It began as ‘Hey Jules’ and later became ‘Hey Jude’, which sounded better. Ironically John thought it was about him when he first heard it. It went on to become one of the Beatles’ most successful singles ever, spending nine weeks at number one in the US and two weeks in the UK. Paul stayed for a while. He told me that John was bringing Yoko to recording sessions, which he, George and Ringo hated. […] He joked about us getting married - 'How about it, Cyn?’ - and I was grateful to him for cheering me up and caring enough to come. He was the only member of the Beatles family who’d had the courage to defy John – who had apparently made it quite clear that he expected everyone to follow his lead in cutting me off. But Paul was his own man and not afraid of John. In fact, musically and personally, the two were beginning to go in separate directions so perhaps Paul’s visit to me was also a statement to John.”
— Cynthia Lennon, John
“Dear Mim, Don’t be lonely or sad while I’m away. Read a good book. Love, John”
— Eight year old John Lennon
