Another piece by Zombie!! I'm so delighted!!

So! thavnair and I (literally) trapped Fernehawles in a corner (with a long drop behind him, even) and bombarded him with questions about duskwights and sharlayans. Cliff notes here, I might add more detail when I’m less wiped.

GENERAL

He told us that he wasn’t able to tell us at this point in time whether Urianger was wildwood or duskwight, though he used a duskwight model in 1.0.

Apparently the reason the Scions don’t seem to visibly age over long periods of time is that Sharlayan cosmetics are really really great and include maximum-strength anti-aging creams.

No seriously.

That was the answer he gave us.

GELMORRA AND THE WILDWOOD/DUSKWIGHT SPLIT

Gelmorra is OLD. Early Sixth Astral Era old.

The (wildwood) elezen were in the Shroud before the ixal. Timing of the entrances of sylphs and elementals are one of the things he escaped before I could ask him more about.

At some point, either the elementals came to the wood or the elementals took offense to the actions of the elezen, particularly cutting down trees and the building of settlements. At this point, the elementals forced them underground.

Over many, many generations (‘a thousand years or more’) a split developed among the elezen. While the elezen who wished to return to the surface stayed close enough to it to remain wildwood, the elezen who didn’t care for the surface didn’t see sunlight in generations, and eventually became duskwights.

Eventually Gridania was formed. The elementals allowed the elezen (and midlanders, who came onto the scene at some point during this time as midlanders are known for doing) to build a settlement within the wood as long as they followed a very long and very strict list of rules.

While there were some exceptions - a handful of duskwights went to the newly founded Gridania while a few wildwoods remained in Gelmorra - as a rule the wildwoods were only too glad to return to the surface regardless of the cost to their freedom, while the duskwights wished to keep thier freedom and the home they had made for themselves out of the elementals’ reach.

More time passed. Eventually the elementals allowed the duskwights to return to the wood without all of the rules that the wildwoods were bound to follow. Unfortunately the people living in the wood didn’t quite get the memo. The a more extreme version of the Gridanian attitudes to duskwights that we see ingame followed. In addition, the duskwights were prevented from returning to Gelmorra out of fear that allowing them to brazenly return to the surface and then go back underground might be a massive offense.

DUSKWIGHTS OUTSIDE THE SHROUD

Elezen outside the shroud were never forced into Gelmorra and thus never became duskwights. This is the reason for the relatively small number of duskwights in eorzea - a lot of elezen, living in places like Coerthas were never in the conditions that created the Duskwight race.

That said, Coerthas has a somewhat substantial duskwight population. It’s nowhere near as large as its wildwood population but considering the significantly lower number of duskwights, it’s a lot of them.

The reason that Coerthas has this duskwight population? The actual reason Fernehawles gave?

Things are much better for them there than in Gridania.

No, seriously.

Nobles, Merchants and the Rich. Oh my: Perrin is part of Ul’dahs upper crop and often, very often, frequents the lavish parties and entertainment halls those hold. He’s a pretty famous enough face around there that both flattering and unflattering rumours might have come to your characters ear if they frequent those either. Sometimes he even holds those little events himself though they tend to be more tight knitted to create an artifical sense of urgency to reach into his good graces…

Serving the Faith: Perrin is one of the few peculiar beings that held ‘Priest’ long enough as a rank to be referred to as an High Priest yet he is often not at the podium talking Brimstone and Hellfire. If anything he has a particulary reputation to be willy and often outstretching his departments of responsibilities and then buying out any uproar this might have caused. Otherwise outside of teaching students, he is rarely upstairs and not hanging out in the Ossuaries underbelly. Funny how these things can cause someone to get lost in there just to see whats down there.

The Magpie: Perrin buys and sells and that extends to certain Underworld Auctions as well. Especially shiny forbidden trinkets and artifacts for his research and prevention of it getting into the wrong hands. He isn’t above hiring thieves, burglers and the one or another morally flexible adventurer for precuring him the desired items from either dangerous ruins or unfortunate competition or untrustworthy organizations.

Merchants of Buisness and Opportunites: “Gold is Divine” and for someones family whose whole fortune came from goldsmithing, selling it and earning a prestigous fortune until it became a household name for quality and excellent customer service, it truly is divine. The Solleux Family has since far branched out and became member of a certain Syndicates Member far reaching net of employees and loyal overseers. With a rather far and wide grip even currently expanding to Kugane, a parley with their current Head might sound lucrative.

The Void, it’s pest and those that worship it: Perrins main dealings for the Ossuary is the tracking, infiltrating and dismantling of cults before they swell and can cause damage to the populace and harm the faith. Atleast thats the main facade, the darker and only barely tolerated underbelly is the research of the Void and it’s inhabitants to better exterminate the creatures and the blights and possession they can spawn. He’s only one of the three headhonchos but also the one most likely to be found in the middle of charred voidsent and cultists. Though that side is a well kept secret and not something easily found out.

I’m lonely, you’re loney. Why not share some fun? Sometimes the elezen you encounter is a big ho and might just be flirting with you and offer his services to you. Sometimes the elezen you encounter also moonlights just for the fun and need of it. Even though he is very sexually active I’d prefer if it’s not all and only ERP, thank you.

I refrain to RP with anyone under 18+. It’s both for my and your protection and not meant to discriminate against you. I’m sorry to the many talented underage rpers but it’s a risk I’m not taking.

I live in Europe and am in the GMT+1 Timezone unless I goofed, so I might not always be available.

I also work full time on a flexible shift so I might be around early one day and late the next.

Any RP is fine as long as there are no underage themes.

I prefer in-game but due to time issues we might have to do Discord RP.

My mothertongue is German so English is not my first and I’m sometimes prone to very stupid mistakes.

I’m very lore-bend happy at times and not a big stickler for it, of course theres certain ideas I don’t entertain when they get to cosmical for me.

I do like darker themes and certain more mature topics but I prefer talking things out, especially grievous bodily harm and the like of that nature.

I’m a big idiot and sometimes forget agreed times, please don’t be afraid to poke me as a reminder a day or two in advance.
