I had massive issues with Stormblood’s story. That’s for another post, as I’m still reluctant to really get into it. But I will say my issues with it were not simple and had everything to do with how I filter and consume media as a black woman. Which is why I don’t talk about it much, and why I haven’t shared any extensive thoughts here because when it comes to racism, and anti-blackness, that’s something this community, in my experience, turns a blind eye to in lieu of entertainment at best. At worst, it’s vehemently attacked the people who do speak on it.

Some of you would have seen me talking about it in a more private space on twitter. Those same people should also know my personal twitter has been locked down for some time now, and that someone I was friends with for years has abruptly stopped being that.

Jo, known on tumblr as necrologos/giddeus, didn’t like how critical I am of racism in this game and labeled me a harmful person because of it. A white player who’s known for having a brown character didn’t want to see anything about racism from a black woman.
